About Lem Clawfoot

Backstory:
Lem was captured by human children as a young hatchling and sold as a pet to an eccentric old woman in the Ivy district of Absalom.

At first, he was confined solely to his cage, but as the woman began to bond with her new pet, he was allowed the freedom to patrol the house. The house led to the yard, and the yard led to the street. Eventually, he was running errands for her around the neighborhood. Naturally, the other merchants were skeptical at first, but after years of excellent behavior, he grew to be trusted in the community.

As the woman became more eccentric, she grew closer to Lem. By the end of her long life, he was, by all rights, her only friend. She left most of her estate to her relatives, but Lem received a small inheritance of his own. Unfortunately, Lem had nowhere to go, as the relatives did not take kindly to “his kind” and “his kind” would have nothing to do with a human’s pet.

Lem was forced to take to the wilderness, using his innate knowledge of traps to survive, and occasionally using his knowledge of human language and culture to trade for necessities. Eventually, through years of wandering, he has ≪BONDED WITH ADVENTURING PARTY≫ and is interested in settling this frontier land in such a way that fellow kobolds feel welcome to live among humans.

Lem is a skilled wilderness survivalist with a focus on traps and cleverness over physical ability, although he is certainly capable with a bow. He is friendly to humans, but distrusting at first. Eventually, he can become fiercely loyal to those humans who treat him fairly. Lem is inherently curious and is always up for a new fact, trick, or tip.
