Hey guys, I will have another post up tomorrow. The character interactions have been interesting so far. Cheers! I think we are hitting gritty pretty well. ;)

After sheathing her rapier, Yandasana moves urgently to examine the dead. She feels slightly sick at what she has seen. Blood and body parts litter the ground. The men were massacred in a matter of seconds. She saw it with her own eyes.

Angered by Dagru, she confronts him head on. "You killed his friends. And now you wish to coerce him to speak with you. There is no honor to be gained in this behavior. You do want me on your side. Trust me on that. Causing more suffering to him will not win my allegiance."

She looks over to Gird and speaks sarcastically to him, "What a benevolent man you are. You wish to carry his wishes too?"

She stands her ground, in defense of this victim. "You are going to have to wait a bit longer, Dagru. And Rockne if you do have any concern over anyones life, I would suggest you not torture him."

She faces Dagru again, "I am not afraid of death. If you do so wish to strike me down or not, your decision will determine your nature to everyone here. So, I ask of you, stand down!"

Yandasana heart thumps rapidly at the sound of the bandits arrival. She was not much for the bloodshed that was no doubt going to happen. But, her companions insisted on going through with this plan. She made sure to prepare herself by experimenting with alchemy to ease the stress of this beforehand. Yanda was soon going to find out whether the horrors of war were true. Does a kingdom need to built with blood?

Prepared Shield and Cure Light Wounds.

Surprise Round

Yandasana hastily grips her drink tighter with tension. She drinks her prepared recipe urgently, which results in a few coughs afterward. The drink has a bitter taste to Yanda's mouth, but she successfully consumes all of it.

Using Shield, Cure Light Wounds Left

Round 1

Her hands shake nervously as she draws her rapier. At this moment, I may know if I can handle a situation such as this...

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Yandasana yells at the top of her lungs, "For the sake of your lives, drop all your weapons and surrender. If you continue to hold such tools of destruction, then my allies will keep their aggression towards you."

Female Half-Elf, Investigator 1 (Empiricist), HP: 8/8 Fort: +0 , Ref: +4 , Will: +4, AC: 17 (due to shield spell), Touch: 12, Flat Footed: 12, Int: +1, Perception: +9,

I am lurking roll 20. :)

Yandasana sits comfortably in a straight posture. "Thank you for the wine, dear." Yanda did not much like hearing the word bastard be yet repeated. They used the word with out any regard to what it really means.

Pondering the recent exchanges, she concentrates thoughtfully, collecting knowledge to apply to the situation at hand. "Dangerous..." Yandasana pauses for a moment to let the word sink in. "Very dangerous."

After taking a brief sip of wine she continues, "The least blood spilt will be most ideal. We need leverage... I need to understand the relationship between the cloaked man and his followers. Do they hold strong loyalty to him? Does he bound his fellow companions without much reward? If so, perhaps we can provide them with greater investments. To ease off his power without bloodshed. But, I am not sure we could hold a long term allegiance with a couple of bandits. A sudden disappearance of them would probably make any of the other bandits suspicious. Traveling without this place protected would be foolish. Our decisions to take care of them harshly may lead to consequences to what we are sworn to protect."

Yandasna looks over to Viannella, "A do or die situation will not change ideologies. Instead, lets surprise them with some hospitality. Grant them a seat among the table, provide them with a decent meal to loosen their mouths."

Diplomacy-Aid Another: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

+2 to Vianella's diplomacy

Yandasana speaks sincerely, "Do not worry. Our intention is not to do any harm. We have been sent on behalf of the kingdom to do service in the Stolen Lands. It would be both in our great interest that you do not intend to harm. But, if danger does come, then I will gladly give my all for your protection."

Yandasana takes a respectful bow on behalf of her honor. "I wish you judge us not by our initial looks, but by our actions. Knowing only of my fellow travelers three days ago, I wish to impart the benefit of the doubt. All we ask is for benevolent hospitality."

Female Half-Elf, Investigator 1 (Empiricist), HP: 8/8 Fort: +0 , Ref: +4 , Will: +4, AC: 17 (due to shield spell), Touch: 12, Flat Footed: 12, Int: +1, Perception: +9,

There it goes... 3 days pass... the walk cemented the idea to Yandasana that she was in this expedition for good. After hearing her name from the list, she felt a sharp impact of melancholy in her soul. Her father's wishes were in effect. Not only that, but royal blood has followed her even here.

Vianella Orlovsky knows her bastard status. Yandasana has seen her once or twice in the gathering of royal houses. She was not allowed to sit with pure royal blood. Her elven features made it so obvious that she was a mark of her father's infidelity. But, they called her lady anyway. Maybe as a mockery, she supposes.

Yanda felt a little better in mood on day three. Her lifted spirit on the sight of the fort accentuated a smile on her face. But, upon seeing Vianella focused on her mirror, Yandasana glances at Vianella as if trying to pass venom to her. "Sweetie, better not focus to hard on such a thing. Were not in royal houses anymore. A table to far away, huh?" However, she does not let the words come out of her mouth. Her companion does not deserve such a barrage. She lets the anger subside.

"I hear the sound as well. A compelling curiosity to figure the origins of such a sound. Worth to ask the question. But to know, we must draw near to the fort. If danger does come our way, I can see that our halfling is surprisingly built with strong muscle. A anomaly for his own kind from what I have read. Lets not be to quick to draw our sword until we have the intention of the owner."

Here.

1) Player death/Player disappearance: If a player either leaves the game, goes a long time with no posted reasoning, or a character dies, I am not going to replace them. This may seem a tad harsh, but it is what it is. This is going to be a very grim, very real feeling setting. Granted, once the magics of resurrection become available, player death will not be a serious issue. Also, if the party wishes to pool funds to have such magic performed, that is another option. However, having been in and seen several PbP games in the past fall due to player inactivity, I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of this up front.

What will I do if the party gets too small? Well, that particular party would fail, from an RP perspective. They would have 2 options at that point:

A) Seek asylum with the neighboring group/kingdom (depending on whatever phase they are at).

B) Return as a whole to Restov, and then begin searching for replacements. Which, in turn, WOULD result in my opening up a recruitment thread again and finding replacements. However, this would STILL result in some sort of negative impact on the players cities/kingdom, due to a lack of faith in their rulers.

Gritty can be an interesting element of the story. If a majority party kill happens, another option I was thinking of is having the entire party be key revolutionaries.

DM Thron wrote:
3) Maps: As I said before, I will host the maps on the game's Roll20 site. During every-day posting, the map will be placed in a default position of the main area map that you can all see now. During combats, I will transition it to a regular grid combat map for the duration of that scene.

This is my first time using roll 20. Should be interesting.

Vianella wrote:
Considering my Roll20 issues, I don't mind if someone else takes this on. RP-wise, we could go with whoever has decent Survival since it's "guiding us through the wilds". Rockne has the highest, with +4, and I guess I have the next highest at +2 (just from my Wisdom). Yandasana has +1 while the hobgoblins have -1 for the same... That could be a whole separate issue. We have enough that we can hunt/forage for everyone, which is good. On the other hand, I guess if Vianella makes an aid roll (or can everyone aid?) to help Rockne's Take 10, we won't get lost... Maybe the hex route should be random unless we make the survival check, lol.

I am not going to comment on this much because I have played the first part of the ap. Yandasana will do her best to help the party as she sees it. :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence, DM Thron. I look forward to gaming with you, and my fellow players.

Edit: I just noticed I was the only evil player selected. Again, thank you. :)

Although were not in the same group, I was envisioning a possibility as we were roleplaying that there would be a constant political power struggle between Yandasana and Serafina, (Not violently, but politically.) This does not mean shifting political positions of power (Ruler, General e.t.c.) but use of spying and gaining knowledge to gain leverage for the other to have dependency on the person that holds helpful value or info.

Kind of similar to the relationship between Professor X and Magneto I guess, but a more political intrigue fashion. (Like playing a chess match) A better example would be like Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty. But, not to the point that it is detrimental to the party goals.

But this is merely one way that I thought it might go.

The point is you made a nice character, Well done!

Hello there! Thanks for inviting me.

Nice to be part of the new blood.

In other news, in the next couple of days, I will be creating two separate threads, one for each group, and the current gameplay thread will be abandoned. For now, though, the ten of you can continue to RP there, as we will have a bit of time before this kit and caboodle is fully ready.

2 kingdoms is alot of work. ;)

"Serafina Trimble." The sorceress grins widely as she accepts the proffered hand, nodding. "I know what you mean! I can hardly concentrate with all the conversation and movement going on around me." Serafina has the decency to blush slightly at the woman's blunt statements, her grin turning into an embarrassed half-smile as she releases the other woman's hand. "I was more curious than anything else. I would expect the lady over there to be sporting a broken nose. You seem more the bookish type, like me." She lets her dark eyes flit to Erimriel for a moment as she indicates her, before turning her attention back to Yandasana. "Well, the fellow was quite blunt, which by itself isn't so bad. But he had the nerve to call me...what did he say, a 'Woman of the World'! He might as well call me a whore!" She rolls her eyes, sticking a slice of the peeled orange in her mouth and chewing and swallowing before continuing. "Although with the scant attention I've drawn so far, I wonder if I should have dressed a bit more scandalously. So what draws you hear, Yandasana? Ready to become a worldly woman, like myself?" The dark-haired woman chuckles huskily, pushing her hair out of her face.

Yandasana responds with a pleasant smile, "Nothing particulary focused, dear. A mix of motivation between external and internal." Yanda does not want to be quick to give out anything to her. Yandasana wears strong mental armor to machiavellian plots. If her weaknesses were picked out of her, she would be at her opponent's mercy. Although, her compassion for other beings is a quality that she never does conceal. Her empathy is what enhances her perceptive skills.

Gird wrote:
Gird approaches Serafina and Yandasana and stops a few feet short. "My Lady Serafina it appears I owe you an apology, I meant no disparagement of your character, I merely meant to point out that I have lead a sheltered life and I said it in a hamfisted way, I hope you'll accept my apology and continue your conversation in peace" Gird gives a short bow.

"Perhaps the man will heed to some advice." The advice is given swiftly,"She told me of what you said. Do not worry, I have not judged your character based on it. However, I should give you some knowledge learned that might be to your benefit. Be careful with the choice of words you speak. Honesty is certainty an excellent virtue to uphold with all qualities that are good natured. But, do remember that your words can create enemies as well as allies. Even honesty can be flawed in of itself. If we do end up traveling on the road, make sure to remember that. And remember that in many other contexts. I would like to keep my companions very much alive if I am on the road. I respect your decision to apologize."

Serafina wrote:
Hearing the nobleman's apology, she looks up to him and nods. "Your apology is accepted, my lord. Perhaps I was wearing my feelings on my sleeve, as some say." Aye, you said it in a hamfisted way. Likely because no one dared teach you the difference. Best learn that now, pretty boy. She continues to look up at him for a couple of breaths, sweeping her hair out of her face with a pale, slender hand, before turning back to Yandasana.

The knowledge that Serafina is still wearing the feelings of anger is noted in Yandasana's mind. She does not tell Gird, out of the hope of giving him some peace. As along as Serafina does not hunt him down to give him serious harm, he should be fine.

Upon him leaving, many new personalities come through the door. Surprising to Yandasana is the steady increasing diversity of individuals that were drawn for this expedition. "They must be desperate to get this expedition going. The stolen lands would not be taken by just anyone." Yanda hopes that if she ends up being picked, that she will provide additional grit of her own to succeed. She listens between the exchange of the Hobgoblin and Serafina.

Serafina wrote:
Ewwww!! The sorceress' big mouth always got her into trouble when she tried to improvise, in this case to be funny. All this talk of swords and sheathes, and now the brute was sitting near her with that despicable look on his face. Serafina gives it a moment's thought, then quickly comes to the usual decision she makes: casting her troubles on someone else. She continues to chuckle, turning to Yandasana, "Did you hear that? You have an admirer!"

She keeps her constant polite demeanor, unphased by the childish statement. Seeing that the Hobgoblin has sat on the other side of Serafina, she gives out advice to him as well,"You may court Serafina if you wish. But, if she rejects your advances, imagine yourself being poured on by gallons of cold water. That helps me if someone rejects my admiration. And if you would like to hear my answer, I am not interested. Being forward is a good strategy in courting a partner, you get a clear yes or no answer. I wish you both good luck. May you live long and prosper." She gets up and walks away to the curiosity that Serafina pointed out earlier with her eyes. She would rather Serafina get out of her own troubles at the moment. The solution was only to be honest to the hobgoblin.

She approaches Erimiel, "Drinking game? I would rather not participate, but I would gladly watch the spectacle."

Having given up on removal of his chains for the moment, he recedes into his corner and watches the room. On seeing the large woman produce a large bottle and demand a drinking contest, an idea comes to mind. The goblin sinks back into the shadows, hoping nobody sees him, and begins rifling through his pockets before finding a small white tablet, and swallowing it quickly. He then pulls out 4 vials from his waist and begins carefully mixing the contents between them, occasionally shaking one, and hoping nobody sees the process, which takes a full minute. The goblin then bursts into the center of the room, declaring at the top of his lungs: "SNOTBOOGIE WILL ENTER DRINKING CONTEST! Snotboogie can drink more than any longshanks! Snotboogie is best drinker of drinks to ever drink drinks!" With that, he clambers up on to the table, and, realizing that picking up a stein that is nearly half his height might be difficult, gets on his knees before using the chains on his arms to tip back the glass to his lips for a long swig - though a nontrivial amount does end up all over him and the table, he still pulls back an impressive amount of hooch for a Goblin of his small size before pushing it back upright."OKAY. WHO NEXT!?!?!?" The goblin grins and looks around the room, hoping for a challenger."

Spellcraft/Inspiration to identify Spell/Extract: 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 8 + (2) = 12Nope

The goblin's ploy is visible to her, but his intention is not fully revealed.

Yandasana questions the Goblin, "What kind of preparation did you do there? I saw you consuming your extract, trying to get a leg up on the competition? By all means compete, just give a full disclosure before people take up on your challenge."

Planning on writing up her backstory, description, and personality today and putting another post in the gameplay thread after class.

Happy to see the lass has acknowledged his presence gramlag now can clearly see that she feels like she must act the part of a noble here. "Eyes can watch all they like, my armour is clean and my gear neat, i care not what they think beyond that though your right in some looking down upon some of us."

when she takes notice of his shields Gramlag gets a tad giddy saying "Ive seen no realy action no lass, i patroled with the local militia when the mood took me and i spent time making the armour and shields you see me with today, their quality isnt so great id stamp my name on them and send them to market but they have seen me through a few ordeals and im far more adept with a shield in my hand than a sword id like to think, bloodshed isnt something to do lightly but thieves dont always take nicly to 'stop robbing us' and 'leave now and ill let you live' they tend to react with some aggression when you dont grant them what they demand" recanting the fights that Gramlag has been in he shows that he clearly enjoys the fights but also clearly distastes any time he is forced to kill an opponent.

"my militia commander gave me an invitation to this meeting as a strong arm to aid an expedition if im selected, im curios, if battle is not your forte then i take it you are skilled in other areas? what do you bring to a group if you dont mind me asking lass?" he asked wanting to learn more about this woman as it seems a good way to pass the time before the event begins.

Yanda listens intently while at the same time satiating the rumbling of her stomach. She nods in approval to Gramlag's statement of opinion on bloodshed. What excites him of the expedition, Yandasana is the opposite. Despite suffering from bouts of melancholy, she remains cheerful though. Maybe the dwarf's positive spirit helped her out?

She thinks in contemplation first, then responds, "I am not sure if I will be able to provide any help. My knowledge needs context to be applicable. Same as your knowledge, some people will swing the sword, some will not. I have only heard of the Stolen Lands being dangerous. "

She pauses for a moment to click her mind into the dwarven language. This does not sound like rough dwarven. It is fluent with all the elegance and subtly of a native dwarven speaker.

Dwarven:
"Consider my trade based on what I know."

After responding to the dwarf, she gets caught up on the activity. The large Half-Orc entrance and commotion with the goblin caught her eye. She looked around to see the colorful assortment of people at the table. Throughout all these exchanges, she can not particularly pick out every conversation, but she remains observant. She hopes that Half-Orc doesn't have the intention to strike down the goblin. Having a one-way passage to the Stolen Lands is a punishment in of itself.

Serafina Trimble wrote:

Seeing the nobleman is a bit preoccupied, Serafina dips a shallow curtsie to him, then takes her leave of the man's company, grateful for the reprieve. An inquisitor, and a rude one at that! She threads her way through the crowd, her slender figure working to her advantage as she manages to deftly avoid running into anyone.

Her eyes drift to the commotion at a table near the entrance, and her full lips settle into an amused expression. It seemed the carnival was still running full tilt, and had even added a couple of new attractions. She listens to the banter between the goblin, dwarf, a half-orc, and some young man. Spying the holy symbol, she nods to herself. A priest, of course. And apparently an ambitious one, trying to convert the likes of those! She chuckles, seemingly at nothing.

She makes her way over, all the same. Boredom has ever been her bane. Boldly, she takes a seat beside the woman with the startling blue eyes, turning her head to the side to look at her as she sits. "Quite the gathering tonight, isn't it? What do you think of all this?" The tall woman sits up straight, posture perfect. Don't! Don't! Like a beacon, the woman's nose draws her eye, the sorceress noting the bent angle it assumes on the woman's otherwise fair face. The lady didn't seem the sort to brawl, but her nose had been broken, all the same.

To cover, Serafina smiles in a friendly way at the woman, reaching for the first piece of food on the table she can find. An orange! Satisfied, the raven-haired woman proceeds to peel the fruit while waiting for a response.

;)

Yandasana looks at her with a smile, "Lots to think about. Hard to keep up with all the commotion that is going on. A large amount of personalities here. Quite diverse, I would say." She continues politely, "No need to carry a facade with me. You can ask me about my nose. I saw that the man you spoke to earlier angered you. You look charming, dear." Yandasana's compliment was sincere and empathetic. She takes a sip of her drink and sets it down. With the early life that Yandasana had, she had to be perceptive of other people. "But since you asked a question... I might as well respond with a question, how did that man anger you so? My name is Yandasana Fethen." She reachs out her hand for a handshake.

leaving his gear at his seat he makes his way over. "pardon my intrusion lass but you look like you dont know anyone here and could use a friendly face, me name be Gramlag would you care to have a seat with me while the details of this meeting pass at least? i know no one here and it seems neither do you" Gramlag says, tone a tad gruff to be heard over the conversations of the room motioning to where his gear is resting at a seat by kitchens

Yanda has a initial feeling of suspicion towards the dwarf's sudden forwardness, but it dissipates quickly. She does acknowledge the dwarf with a smile, but she stays quiet until she joins him to the table. This is after getting distracted by the goblin's loud entrance. She felt compassion for the Goblin, it was all alone, like she has been at times. Her conflicted hesitation to help was based on the fact that the Goblin could possibly be dangerous. If she freed the Goblin and the Goblin did do harm to other people within this place, she would feel guilty about it. Guilty because no one truly deserves harm done to them. But, in a world like this, harm still happens. Maybe the Goblin deserved the chains for the crime he committed. Yanda did not know for sure. "I will probably inquire about it later."

I hope i get selected, the simple life has reached its point of expiration and ill be needing to have an adventure one way or another i think."

Gramlag feels mildly out of place in this room full of people, he has never been particularly good at introducing himself to strangers, an odd habit of putting his foot in his mouth has made him a tad unsure of how to start a conversation so he takes his drink in hand an waits for things to start.

Yandasna replys in a polite tone, "There are many eyes upon us. It is best to look our best."

Sitting next to the dwarf, she picks out a handful of grapes to eat. Upon looking at Gramlag's spiked shield curiously, she asks, "Are you a warrior in trade? I have not seen action myself, only read about war in the books."

Bastard, bastard, bastard. Yandasana Fethen was sent on behalf of her family to this gathering. Her stepmother was overjoyed at the sight of her leaving the household. She would rather have Yanda dead if possible, but this was as close as it was going to get. Brevoy called for great individuals to do something grand on behalf of the kingdom.

Her father kept her within the royal household as to look beyond honorable, but abused her constantly in closed doors, leaving her confused on whether her father actually loved her or not. She has a brutal scar on her left cheek from her biological father's recent drunken rage. Yet, her father funded her education, and much to her step mother's dismay, she inherited her father's highly analytic mind. She was closer in relation to her father than her step brothers and sisters.

She could not take the last name of her father because of her royal blood being tainted, nor did she gain status. Her father gave her a different name.

"If the kingdom asks for royal blood to participate in an expedition, why not sacrifice the bastard?"

But, she is not concerned with leaving. Hopefully this will serve a more permanent escapism from the dysfunctional family she belonged do. Reading helped ease the pain, but that would not quell the lingering of it. Besides, She would still uphold her honor to combat the adversity her status.

She has long black hair that covers her pointed ears. She has a slender, skinny physique of the average elf. Her face bears a more human-like appearance, similar to her father. The most admirable part of her face is her blue eyes. She has heard from some acquaintances that they sparkle in the dark. The least complimentary is her nose, which is rather pointed and oddly shaped in comparison to the rest of her face. Due to the frequency of beatings, her nose is actually crooked, lacking proper symmetry.

She bears the invitation in her hand, and shows the guard the invitation. "My father has sent me to answer the invitation's call."

Upon entering, she looks over the interior of the place.

Hey guys!

My DM alias is Tarfugal. I posted in the gameplay thread to keep it going. I decided to be a bit more hasty given that Arneste was going to start up a carrion crown campaign (Although he has recruited players in a Recruitment thread and has not even opened threads for gameplay and discussion). This will hopefully cut off some slack off for Arneste.

Would guys like me to recruit a new player? I am thinking about writing Yanda out of the story (But, I like her alot).

Yandasana looks at the details of Hal's features as he speaks. Her mind clicks into the elven language as a native speaker with all the flourish and subtle sounds.

Elven:
"Pain could be a language indeed. I disbelief that it is just understood by thieves. I would suggest not making others speak that language to you. Foolish behavior is what it is, no matter who does it. Perhaps, it would be pertinent in other situations... "

Noticing Hal's anger, she changes the subject.

"I was adopted and raised among the elven scholars. Their vast knowledge given their long lifespan and culture garners my respect. Keeping you safe is what I aim to do, sir. You are an employee here, are you not? My name is Yandasana Fethen. My elven parents gave me the elven word for 'great mind' in my first name, but I would assume that you already know the meaning. It was probably meant to be, I have constantly read books voraciously. We can talk more later if you wish."

She bows respectfully towards Hal and moves along to hear what Saul has to say.

Saul wrote:
Saul then turns to the PCs and says softly, "I appreciate you lot's thwarting what could have ended in a riot. I'd like a word with all of you in my office when you are done out here." And with that he leaves for the backrooms.

Yanda smiles at her success, "I will be there soon enough."

Walking over to the loot, Yanda inspects the masterwork leather armor worn by the eyepatch lady. 'A little blood on the leather... a little clean and it should be ready to go.' Her hand picks out the 10 gold pieces inside the armor and places the gold in one of her pockets. She picks up the wand from the pile out of mere curiosity.

She follows the others into Saul's office.

Masterwork Armor, 10 GP, Wand.

I would recommend anyone in the party taking the bracers. Higher ac is always nice.

My character would be interested in taking the masterwork armor. :)

Yanda can use the wand with use magic device or we could sell the wand.

The gold adds up to 70gp. We could split 10gp for each pc (and 10gp for two thumbs?) or we could make a shared money pool for the party's future investments. How do you guys want to handle gold? It's nice to have the party in mind, when buying equipment.

We should probably try to sell all the saps, armor, e.t.c.

Seeing no more use for fighting, Yandasana sheathes her rapier. She listens curiously to Hal's brief exchange with Cameron. 'Cause and effect, same as always.' She crosses her arms and tilts her head slightly to the right. Behind her is the dead wizard that she recently learned was named Angvar. With such a outburst, perhaps the eyepatch lady shared an attachment to this man. Perhaps a clear romantic link.

Yanda at least understood what loss feels like. She had a lover herself in the past. But time passed away in a not so kindly fashion with him. He believed in one notion, Yanda believed a different notion. 'Sometimes what you know, can get you killed.'

After observing the 2nd threat from the elf bowman, Yandasana moves to intercede, "Her blood is as filthy as anyone else. Let me tell you something that you ought to know, sir. If all you can do is threaten in a place like this, I would not be surprised if more enemies come your way. Every problem does not have to be dealt with the swing of the sword."

She shifts her focus to the lady.

Yanda speaks with a soft and pleasant tone towards the eye patch lady. "Angvar... Angvar... can you tell me about him, dear. Why was he here and you as well?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Yanda lies by channeling from her own experience of loss. "He didn't deserve to die. You have my word on that." She actually does not care for the wizard. It was his own stupidity that got him killed.

Yanda looks at the goblin. "You are seeing the tree, not the forest, little one. That wizard had a magical scroll containing incantations and properties for the purpose of making a selected object of his choosing... smaller. While the shrinking of the chest may be entertaining, it would not help the business of the Gold Goblin. His intention was to steal the chest."

Yanda directs her attention to the eye patch lady. "Listen closely and well. Two men are certainty not afraid to get their hands dirty. The man on the second floor has threatened you with death. And the man next to me seems to have speared your wizard without any hesitation. This is besides another arrow that has been drawn against you from another vantage point. I don't know these people, but from what I know at the moment you ought to listen to the lady speaking next to you. Stand down and confess your crimes."

Yanda finds that some form of magic or merely inspiration has somehow made her more focused on the task at hand. She has no time to figure out why though.

Yanda takes a traditional battle stance that she learned previously from spending time sparring against well trained duelists. Yanda takes her right arm back in preparation for a horizontal swing from right to left. With a flick of her wrist, she swings with her rapier arm.

Yanda chuckles at Saul's speech, 'I guess we could consider riddleport's streets as hell.' Yanda's quick glance around reveals a rather well armed dwarf. 'No guest is as well armed as him, except the guards that work here.' Powered by curiosity, Yanda approaches Dolgrin to speak with him.

Her mind clicks quickly in the mindset of the dwarven language with all of the subtle accents. Yanda's fluently speaks the dwarf language as if she was a dwarf herself. This is because of her intense study of languages, fueled by understanding the strengths and limitations of language. She heard from a fellow colleague that a map does not exactly reflect the territory. She agrees with this notion. The word love could have have different meanings for different people, while the word chair is an observable explanation. She could point at a chair and call it a chair. While love is not as specific as a chair. 'Hence, the problem with language itself.'

Dwarven:
"Hello, sir. You seem rather well armed for not working as a guard for this establishment. I suspect that you are skilled at the weapons that you have on your persons. I myself only have this rapier. "

She places her hand comfortably on the hilt of her rapier.

More Dwarven:
"My name is Yandasana Fethen, might I inquire yours?"

Yanda stretches out her left hand for a friendly handshake with Dolgrin, preparing for a firm grip.

Finally seeing him in person, she reminds herself of what she has heard of this man.
Yanda is going to have to play her cards carefully...

"Quite the profitable revamp of this floor, I am impressed. Skill sets? Well, just call me a eclectic thinker. This business is one big game comprised of smaller games."

With a smile, Yanda gestures to the gaming tables to demonstrate what the smaller games are.
"These small games are child's play and I have bigger games to play."

Yandasana Fethen walks closer to Saul and points a finger at him. "You have blindspots just like everyone else. You ought to have me on you side. I can be helpful finding blind spots... from others..."

She pauses for a moment and examines Saul's non verbal reaction.

She follows alongside Nessa without complaint. While many customers seem to be taking glances out of admiration of Nessa's female form, Yanda is not interested. She would rather have the male form to keep her company. However, she understands the asset of Nessa's alluring attraction to the customers at the Gold Goblin. Yanda thinks to herself after observing the movement of her wings, She is obviously not human, not completely at least. Perhaps the attraction they feel is out of her being rather foreign to their eyes... yet... familiar...

She reminds herself of the dream she had this morning. Getting caught in court for her part in the murder of 13 students at Stelendrom University. It is better to have the fruition come into a dream rather than reality itself. She obtained gratification watching them die. They were not knowledge seekers, they cheated whenever they could...

She quickly gets back to the matter at hand, noticing Nessa's confusion.

Yanda intends to remedy her confusion, "I have heard whispers. The Imp, named Old Scratch, owes a debt to Saul. That is why he is in the cage, dear."

Yanda takes notice of Nessa flipping her hair with her tail. Not part of the costume I see... interesting...

"It is imperative to look at the words on the contract before signing, Nessa. Saul may not fancy just Old Scratch in a cage."

Yanda blinks and continues, " I am considering employment here. If you mean to serve me, perhaps you can help secure me a job in this establishment."

Yanda's blue eyes focus on Nessa. She listens intently to her offering. She then moves a little closer to the tray to examine the food.

"Well, Well, if I have to say myself, quite a colorful assortment on that tray. Best not to tease Old Scratch up there for too long. He may be hungry himself. "

She makes a quick point to the creature above.

"Not the first time I have seen something or someone locked in a cage. Also, it will never be the last. By the great power of determinism, you are here."

Yanda pauses for a moment, then asks politely, "What is your name, dear?"

A smile comes quickly to her face after the successful manipulation. After a respectful nod to the guard, she moves on into the fray.

Yanda wanders around to get a mental sketch of how Gold Goblin was built out of mere curiosity. She begins by moving from each side of the establishment looking for supporting beams.

Yandasana is certainly unimpressed by what she heard among the scholars in town. Seems the only "progress" they made is naming the blot, rather than understanding anything. 'They have given credit where none is do.' She would not mind giving Blakely a fatal stab with her rapier to vent her frustration. But, she would rather have people doing that deed for her.

Yanda thinks to herself, 'Obviously, it is going to be hard to figure out whats going on here. The societal makeup of Riddleport doesn't allow for intellectual progress to happen anyway.'

She heads over from the populated streets over to the Gold Goblin. 'Avoiding the alleyways will hopefully reduce the probability of any thugs coming my way.'

She walks for some time until she stops for a quick observation of the iconic golden statue.

With the goblin statue in her sight, she notices that the goblin below the statue depiction's of goblin greed is clearly excited. Perhaps ironically putting forth the very nature that the statue exudes. She walks close enough to hear the last bit of what the goblin said.

The courtroom is near adjourned. The hammer slams down like thunder carrying the sentence to a closure.

"Wait! Judge!"

Yandasana lifts up from her bed rather quickly in a panic. With her eyes finally opened, she takes a breath and wipes the sweat off her face. "Just a dream."

Hearing the bustling activity, she gets up from the bed. As she efficiently dresses herself. she notices slight bubbles from one of her alchemical experiments. She takes a taste of it, but the drink she took in was rather bitter.

"Well, I might as well do some experimentation. " She sits down on the only chair in the room. "The desk is not too sturdy, but it will do." She begins to smile as she spends her time mixing ingredients together. She eventually relaxes in her technique of measurements and calculations. She is deeply focused in her work for a full hour until her stomach begins to grumble.

Prepared Cure Light Wounds and Shield extracts.

After a hearty complimentary breakfast at where she stayed for the night, she heads outside with all her belongings to find out more answers about the strange blot before the tournament starts.

A taste of the character's narrative.:

"Ms. Fethen, there is enough academia already at work in this town. "

Yanda is unfazed by her colleague. "When I was a little girl, I believed in concepts without any given reason or matter." Yanda pauses in her speech to make sure that his interest in her words has persisted. "The dark in the sky over riddle port is a complex phenomenon. Unbowed it may be, but it will break."

"Yanda is this even worth your time?"

Yanda thinks to herself, Knowledge is power you existentialist fool. But the answers lie in the dark up in that sky.

Yanda certainty does not say her thoughts out to her colleague. Her beliefs differ from his beliefs. Freewill is merely an illusion to her. She is guided by mechanistic principles. Everything has a cause and effect. And so does the sky have such mechanistic qualities.

"I suggest you return to the university at once. I am heading to the gold goblin. Staying in riddle port requires me to obtain some kind of protection. My mind is more valuable then my rapier."

Yanda places a hand on her rapier, it comforts her to some extent. "I bid you adieu. Rest keeps me bright and the gold goblin opens tomorrow."

She moves quickly without listening to his reply. No one shall stop me.
