Background:
Wrixx was born in the town of Farhaven, near the southern edge of the River Kingdom known as the Protectorate of the Black Marquis. His father was one of many river pirates who sailed the Dagger River and the winding waterways of the River Kingdoms. As such, Wrixx grew up on the low, fast ships of the river pirates, helping tend the ships while the raiders assaulted anyone who sailed the rivers without paying their tolls. He was initially trained as a deck man, with the potential to advance to much higher positions. But during a battle with a Razmiran ship that was more heavily defended than it first appeared, he managed to knock one of the masked priests off the edge of the ship with a bolt of uncontrolled magical power. Having discovered his latent arcane ability, his father hired an arcanist to help teach him to control his magic. A skilled sorcerer would be a very valuable asset in raiding. For a time, Wrixx was satisfied with his life, but he never really developed a taste for actively assaulting people. When he came of age, he set out to make his own way and chose to become a smuggler instead of a pirate, delivering less than official goods from all across northern Avistan through the waterways.

Not long after going independent, he met his partner, who would go on to become his best friend and closest ally. The pair pooled their resources and purchased one of the fast river ships for their operation, making traversing the rivers child's play. However, both shared a fascination with new things and exciting adventures, leading them to exploring further afield for new goods. Wrixx's partner eventually settled contact in Numeria, allowing them to smuggle pieces of the nations's alien technology out into the wider world. However, one day a shipment came through with a crate bearing unfamiliar markings and with a strange feel that made the ratfolk uneasy. When he opened the crate, he blacked, only to wake up days later with the crate already sold. Wrixx feared something dangerous had gotten through him and he tried to contact his partner, only to find that his partner seemed to have vanished off the face of the earth. With few other options, Wrixx headed into Numeria to track down his missing friend.

Appearance:
Wrixx keeps himself well groomed and respectable looking. He feels like keeping up appearances is important to winning his customers' trust and winning people over to his side. His fur is light grey and he's rather lanky, a result both of his race and his long hours working on the river ships. Despite his agility and years of work, he's not very strong after his many hours of intense study and general avoidance of conflict when he can help it. He wears a long coat to keep off the water and sun while he's working the rivers, and a pair of tailored pants, but no shirt, as he feels his fur is more than enough covering in the climate of the River Kingdoms.
