I don't mind the Rule, No Switching -- but there should be a little more info available before the choice is made. Or an allowance after one or two adventures to get a taste of how Factions actually impact the game.
I chose Andoran over Cheliax but it was a very difficult choice. I wanted more info on how the adventures would run. Players should have access to a little more practical info before we choose.
I've played through 3 scenarios, #s 29, 30 & 31. Before we started, I was under the impression the Factions would play a bigger role. When I found out that members just got a little note from our Faction "rep" to do a minor side job I was disappointed -- great design idea; I'll use it in my Homebrew. But in retrospect I could be running my PC for Cheliax.
Now, I'm relatively content with my choice of Andoran, and I haven't seen any of the three Cheliax "side jobe" notes for the adventures I've gone through, but I think I could have made it as a Cheliax member. It fits more with my character background.
Ultimately I chose Andoran because my PC is trying to one day be "good" enough to be a Paladin. I was afraid that it wouldn't be a good fit for Cheliax -- now I think I'm wrong; he should be in the Cheliax Faction.
