About Viviana Altimari

Viviana looks like someone who’s had a long, hard life. Beautiful yet dangerous, she carries a bow strung on her shoulder, a quiver full of arrows on a strap on her back. Long dark hair frames crimson eyes under a tricorne hat penned with a pink flower. Beautiful floral designs, waves, skulls and shapes form a vivid web of imagery that stretches from her bare shoulders to her wrists in a sleeved tattoo design. Simple rings sit on her fingers, and the holy symbol of Calistria—three swords arranged in a ring of divinity-- is tattooed on the back of her left hand.

Personality:

Viv loves many things. She loves romance, fist fights, a good romp, the rain, the ocean, pretty jewelery and pretty people. Above all, however, Viviana loves attention. She loves giving attention and taking it, earning it and scorning it. She loves to be the center of the room and the one everyone cranes their neck to see. The last few years have been painful to her—after wasting away in a condemned house, finally kicking and turning her life around, she’s dedicated herself to taking each day as they come. Viv knows she was once far more beautiful and accepts she may never reclaim that, but at the same time, yearns to be in the spotlight once again. Elemental, frivolous, childish and impudent; Viviana is rude and witty, never crude, and always cheeky. Verbal sparring is accepted and even expected, but insults earn her ire-- and it's unwise to call the anger of a patron of the Goddess of Vengeance...

Requirement(s) Calistria
You worked in one of your goddess’s temples as a sacred courtesan, and you know how to flatter, please, and (most of all) listen. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Sense Motive checks and Diplomacy checks to gather information, and one of these skills (your choice) is always a class skill for you.

Drug Addict
Source Curse of the Crimson Throne Campaign Guide
Someone you know has become addicted to shiver, a drug distilled from the venom of dream spiders. The drug induces sleep filled with vivid dreams, during which the user’s body often shakes and shivers, giving the substance its street name. Shiver is particularly dangerous for the desperate, for its promises of dreams and oblivion are often viewed as the only alternative apart from suicide for escaping a dreary life. You’ve always thought of shiver as a problem of the lower class, but then someone you know overdosed on the stuff. You’ve done a bit of investigating and have learned that the one who got your friend addicted in the first place was a crimelord named Gaedren. Unfortunately, the guards seem to be more focused on the bigger dealers. They don’t have time to devote many resources to what they’ve called, “a bit player in a beggar’s problem.” It would seem that if his operation is to be stopped, it falls to you.

~Personal Addiction: You were the addict. You blame Gaedren for your brush with death and hate how his drugs are causing similar problems among other youths. Fortunately, your body recovers quickly from toxins, and you have a +1 bonus on Fortitude saving throws.

Backstory:

For Viviana, life was something that others brought to her to live. Growing up, she was exceptional—- a beauty that none could compare to. Inducted into the house of Calistria and out of the city orphanage at a young age, she began her training as a courtesan and lived the life of Riley for almost eight wonderful years. Choosing her companions, being lavished with gifts and never having to lift a finger for herself, Viviana believed the dream would live on forever. She would always be young and beautiful. She was wrong.

Her dream lived on until she met Gaedren Lamm and soon, under his careful attention, became addicted to Shiver. Her beauty faded as her addiction grew, her mind became addled and she quickly lost her patronage. The house took care of her even as she hid the long, fitful dreams she would cast herself into to avoid the drudgery of life itself. The fortune she had amassed dwindled into nothingness as her dependence on Gaedren Lamm's drug grew. Once her addiction was revealed via the discovery of her theft of personal property of the other courtesans, she was removed from the house of Calistria and thrown into the streets. Unable to support herself, she found a dark, damp basement and took root there amongst the filth and other addicts for almost two years.

One day, she saw the light. Something in her changed and she was spurred to recapture the glory of her youth. Viviana could not explain it, but she felt like it was something she had to do-- and failure was not an option. It was hard, painful, agonizing and excruciating, but eventually, the habit was behind her. Rebuilding the bridges she’d burned took even longer. Her youth had faded due to her misuse of the drug and she no longer had the glow she once possessed. However, Viviana realized that in the time she had been gone, things had changed: the women of the house snuck nosefuls of Shiver and the men sucked in deep breaths of Pesh when they thought no one was looking. Desperate to keep the house from falling, the matriarch had no one to turn to. Viviana took it upon herself to save her once and future home.

Setting an arrow into the backside of the dealer was the first step; cleaning up the courtesans was the second. Viviana felt as if she was looking out for her extended family as they had looked out for her, and her affection for them helped them forget her past slights. Their self-appointed protector, Viviana took on the role of big sister, protecting the courtesans and clientele from those would mean them harm, all the while waiting for Gaedren Lamm to resurface so she could live up to the Lady in the Room’s expectations and wreak her vengeance upon his stupid little face.
