About Velasco!
Velasco’s parents were killed when he was around five years old. He was subsequently sold into slavery as a carnival attraction. The rarity of tengu in northern Avistan made him a fairly popular attraction. After several years the wily young tengu managed to jimmy his cage while the carnival was on its way to Starfall in the hopes of entertaining the Black Sovereign. Velasco spent some time on his own scavenging and scrounging in the junk heaps of Numeria until he was discovered and taken in by Khonnir Baine. The strange wizard treated Velasco as his own son, and for his part Velasco eventually loved the man as a father. Baine tutored Velasco in a variety of subjects, and his natural curiosity made him an apt pupil.
