About Varangia of Taldor
"Deuce with squealy Nord" —Fake Flier Found in Jordis's Quarters
Varangia seemed the perfect shield-maiden for the Ulfen Guard, tempering her axe skills with a focus on defense. But through combination of Ulfen blood feuds and Taldan court intrigues, she met her downfall, as a spurned courtier told Jordis, a senior huscarl, that the huscarl's mistress had divested Varangia of her maidenhood. As an appropriate punishment, the young warrior was sent to serve the Grand Prince's interests in the Pleasure Salon of Calistria, and she will return with her shield or on it.
Varangia is a fair warrior-woman who dresses in metal and furs, bearing a heavy spiked shield and a few axes. She lacks the creativity for the politics common to the Taldor faction, instead going about her duties with straightforward loyalty and teamwork. She uses her listening skills to work as a courtesan, but not as a prostitute.
