Yeah, I was confused by them, but thanks for the responses, I think I know how to treat them now. Leave box unmarked if earned (maybe circle) and mark box at later time if used (if the players are still in my group at the time of use).

I'm a new GM in PFS and just had a question about how to mark boons on chronicle sheets and didn't notice an answer anywhere and now it's bothering me that I may mess up players' chronicle sheets (even though they are all local players who play with me weekly).

I've noticed some chronicle sheets have a check box next to the boon while others don't and I've noticed boons of both sorts have written into the text that once used, the boon gets crossed off. So my question is do the check boxes get checked if the players earn the boon or is that check to mark that the player has already used the boon?

I understand that the boon gets crossed off if not earned, but the rest doesn't seem specified. One of the best examples is the second part of First Steps. This might not even be as big of an issue as I'm making it and it might just be my OCD, but I would appreciate clarification.
