About Valleria Albus

Background:
It was a lovely summer morning, so Valleria decided it was a good idea to fish by the coast. She and her sister had a special spot that both had a great view and lots of fishes. There was a flash behind her back and then there was a blue-skinned woman with butterfly wings smiling at her. "Good morning, Miss Albus, it is my pleasure to meet you," she says, still smiling, the wind playing with her long hair. She was wonderful, so Valleria could do little more than stare, mouth open. The tip of her fishing rod was jumping, but she did not notice it.

"Desna sent me to bless you. You are special to her." She continued.

Valleria could not believe it. Why her? "Why me? I... I'm a simple girl from a... simple town in the... middle of nowhere."

"That matters not, dear child. Your deep devotion has touched the Song of the Spheres. Your purity, your unshakable and good heart." She continued, still smiling. She cupped her hands and from within a tiny ball of light of every color imaginable formed.

Valleria dropped the fishing rod into the sea. "But... I'm not good... I think you are mistaken." She wasn't pure either, despite the constant efforts of her parents. She wasn't bad for sure, but to the point of an angel from Desna coming to visit her?

"Your humility keeps you from seeing, my dear. As you've asked, Desna has chosen you to heal the world," the azata says, sending the sphere flying towards Valleria. Instinctive, Valleria tried to dodge it, but the azata did not miss. "You'll be known as Yara, the chosen." There was undeniable glee in her voice.

Valleria was shocked as the energy touched her chest and fused with her. "Yara... is my twin sister."

"WHAT?" The azata wasn't smiling anymore. "Oh no... she always comes here... no no no..." She was flying in circles, before turning to Valleria again, a weird and apologetic smile on her face. "Well... it matters not, you'll be fine. You'll be known as... Valleria? Valleria, the Chosen, and you'll heal the world." An uncomfortable silence and then pooff! The azata was gone. And pooff! She was back. From a satchel she removed a small sphere and tossed it to Valleria, who caught it by some miracle. "This is Tomari, he'll be your spirit animal. Good luck, Desna has high hopes for you!" And poof again.

"Whaaaat...."

"Valleria, this is wonderful! Trully wonderful." Father Zantus was smiling after she told him what happened. Surprised for sure, but amazed. "This is the greatest of honors, and I can indeed see the light emanating from you."

"No this is not! I'm not a priest! Yara is your student, Father, you know I'm not priestess material. You've tried and you've given up on me."

"And I was clearly wrong to do so! There is no doubt about it."

"You were not! It took me years to have you out of my shadow! I do not want to heal the world or whatever! This isn't fair!" She was... lost. She had a whole imaginary career as a brave adventurer far away from Sandpoint. Or more realistically Claus's wife, if she could hook him properly. He was cute, rich and she'd heard a girl saying his thingy was "huge".

"Well, you were chosen, Valleria. By Desna herself. It is your destiny now. You must honor this amazing honor..."

"I'll freaking not..."

"Stop being so stubborn, girl!" Now he was losing his patience. "This is bigger than you, or me, or Sandpoint! You were chosen, by mistake or destiny. Embrace it! There is no choice! What are you going to do? Sue her?"

"Actually... that is a perfectly good idea, Father."

And thus begins the story of Valleria. A novice lawyer following Abadar's teachings in order to sue Desna for an unreasonable mistake that would ruin her life.
