Vall Woodsinger was born in Iadara, the capital of the Elven kingdom Kyonin. Born the son of a wizard and ranger, he was raised to respect both arcane and physical prowess. While he respected both paths, he found himself unsuited to either. He lacked the grand magical aptitude of his father as well as the martial fortitude of his mother. However, he was especially adept at music. With perfect pitch and a remarkable memory, the bards in town sought him out early in his life. They took him in and trained him for many years.
Through their tutelage he discovered a love of history. Enough so that he sought a dual apprenticeship in the local libraries, helping to catalogue tome after tome of information. Soon, he found himself entertaining taverns of Elves with ribald tales of ancient Elven heroes. After nearly 70 years of instruction, the bards sent him into the world, so that he might discover new information. This he did, for the next 25 years.
It was then, sitting in a dimly lit inn, that he overheard whispers of an ancient monument in the west. Thassilonian. He had run across this group in his studies of the era before the fall of the Starstone. They supposedly wielded phenomenal powers and had left monuments and ruins throughout the world as a result of the Starstone's destruction. Deciding that the mysteries surrounding their culture could provide some context for his own Elven histories, he made for the coast quickly, settling in Sandpoint. From there, he strikes out into the wilds, hellbent on gathering whatever information he can.
