Description: Uzès is a bitter beaten down half-orc. His bluish tinged skin is riddled with scars across his forearms and biceps and his piercing small blue eyes have a dark worn out look about them. He wears a green bandanna to cover his bald scalp in the colder Varisian north. His reddish jacket and simple plain clothes hide no weapons of any sort, though his knuckles are deadly enough.
Personality: Uhz, as he is known for short, has seen his world turned upside down. Once fighting the good fight against the oppressive Zon-Kuthon worshiping Umbral Court of Nidal, he has had to flee. While nothing will shake him from his beliefs in Desna, the truth of the matter is that his cover was blown and his identity leaked in Nisroch. He doesn't know how or by whom, but his life infiltrating the underground scene in Nisroch came to a violent end when his partner was captured and taken to Ridwan as a sacrifice to the Midnight Lord. His cover as a dealer at a gaming den meant to attract foreigners and force them into slavery was finally leading him to the trail of how the captives were being taken out of the city. But all that is over now, with Morant taken his superiors thought it best to get him out of there. In a bit of a funk, the half-orc has not settled well into life in Riddleport. For a monk, you'd not expect to see him drunk or gambling, but having spent too much time in that world he has slipped into a downward spiral. One defining feature of his personality that (thankfully) rarely shows itself is his utter hatred for the demonic. From horrors only half imagined with regards to his parents, to the known doom that befell his partner Morant, Uzès hunts devils where ever he can find them.
History: Originally his father had been living in the Menador Mountains on the Chelaxian border when he was made into a slave in Nidal during a raid. Forced into servitude the orc was treated like a pack animal. Uzès' mother was a Nidallian of the lowest peasant class only marginally above slavery. She and his father fell in love and had their only son before being found out. Uzès does not know what became of them after that, only that they left him in the care of an orphanage which was secretly raising the children to follow Desna. He found solace in the martial arts and grew into a strong young man, equally strong in his faith. Working with the Desnian followers he was given tasks to infiltrate and track the slavery channels heading further in land. He worked with a fellow Desnian, Morant in a gambling den until Morant was taken for sacrifice by the gray clad police.
Now he finds himself in Riddleport, a place that is not much better than the life he left behind. Hopefully it is better than where he would've ended up had he stayed though. Hope, however, is far from his thoughts as he trudges through the dank alleyways looking for ways to get by, to hide from shadows he thinks are always following him, or to disappear from the world. The approaching card game is just another outlet for the dejected monk to fill his need to keep himself barely out of the gutter. On his way in he could've sworn that he saw something peeked his sense of wrong, something deep down inside, a hatred that had been brewing almost from birth.
