Prologue: A Chance Meeting

The mighty walls of Kenabres would be an imposing sight for most, but for each of you looking upon the precisely hewn stone, it represents a welcome reprieve from the chaos of the world. It represents the end of the road after days of traveling – for some perhaps even months or years. It represents a place where you might finally belong; where good might prevail over evil, as it has in the past.

As you stop to take in the surroundings a weary soldier chuckles beside you and claps his hand on your shoulder. “Came to pledge yourself to the cause, eh?” he smiles wryly but doesn’t wait for an answer, calling over his shoulder as he limps by, “Lucky for you Armasse starts tomorrow.” You press on to the North Gate, through a crowded city of temporary encampments emblazoned with the symbols of factions and deities too numerous and far reaching for any one person to know them all.

The guards at the main gate are kind but firm: “Sunset soon approaches – your business inside the walls must wait until tomorrow.” Rejected, you return to the campsites and begin preparations to spend the night under the stars once more. Daylight quickly dwindles away and you hear the chopping of wood and a steady rise in merrymaking throughout the camp. More travelers continue to straggle in throughout the early evening, and communal bonfires are stoked as old friends and comrades-at-arms are reunited.

By a strange turn of fate, more important than any of your now realize, you all share the same fire this night.

Feel free to introduce yourselves, and let's get this adventure started!

Chime in here when you're ready for me to look over your final character sheets.

Greetings fellow adventurers!

Seems like there's a lot of interest around here for the Wrath of the Righteous AP, and as I sit here with the books open beside me (getting ready for my regular IRL group), I started thinking: I've always wanted to try Play-by-Post. Looks like a lot of fun when I read them, and scheduling a consistent RPG night with 5 people is always difficult.

I am not new to RPGs or play-by-email games, but since this is my first foray into this specific forum I throw my hat into the ring with one caveat - it might take me a bit to get aquatinted with how the system works.

About me:
I've been a lurker here up to this moment, so unfortunately you won't have a lot to go by when deciding to join this campaign. However, I will at least introduce myself. I'm 31-year-old game designer and writer from Seattle, WA (PST). I've played 2nd ed. D&D for over 15 years, but I recently switched over to Pathfinder and I am enjoying it. I also like GURPS but no one seems to want to play it in my circle of friends. :( I won't say I'm the most experienced DM in the world, but I've put in some time behind the screen, and I have an excellent knowledge of Pathfinder because even as a player I'm a stickler for the rules.

Character Creation Rules:
- Any Paizo core book, no 3rd party (balance issues)
- 20 point buy, no stat above 18 or below 8 (including racial bonus/penalty)
- Max HP 1st level
- All races are open for use
- All classes are open for use
- Pick 1 campaign trait from the WotR Player’s Handbook (work this into your background)
- Pick 1 other trait from the huge list of traits.
- Buy at least 1 Cold Iron weapon. As Demon hunters you would have these.
- Figure out your religion, it's not just filler in this campaign.

Campaign Rules:
- LIMIT: 4 players
- No combat map (2nd ed. style - use your imagination)
- Group Initiative
- Post at least 5 days / week
- Recruitment closes this weekend (1/5/14)

If you want to join in, please make a 1st level character and write up a 1 or 2 paragraph backstory that ties in with your campaign trait. No huge walls of text please, more like an elevator pitch that we can flesh out together if you end up joining the party.

Thanks!
