Expanded Backstory:
Tybalt never knew much about his parents. They left him in the care of his human grandfather and joined the crusade. The old man did his best, entertaining his grandson with (exaggerated) stories of his days in the Worldwound, encouraging him to explore and expand his intellect, and eventually roping him into helping maintain the family store.
Despite being raised on stories of the power of the gods, faith overcoming terrible odds, and noble sacrifices, Tybalt wasn't a very strong believer; he held no doubts about the strength of divine power, but felt that it was too heavily relied upon. To turn the tide and close the massive tear in reality, they'd need more then the power of gods and wizards and raw strength... and one day, he heard about his solution from a traveler from Numeria, who told stories of the wonders and horrors of it's people, the land, the wildlife... and the technology that was hidden there.
Such a treasure trove of useful weapons, defenses, and oddities was too much for Tybalt to resist, and so after saving his money for gear and saying his goodbyes, the young man set out to discover what lay in the Land of Fallen Stars. The first thing he found: bandits. Never much of a combatant, the half-elf fled as fast as he could, but was quickly caught and mugged for nearly everything. His life would've ended there without the intervention of gunslinging scavenger Jeremiah Johnston, who drove off his attackers and got the foreigner to his feet.
In thanks, the two formed a partnership. Tybalt's ability to identify the best scrap to sell and knowledge of healing complemented Jeremiah's ability to scavenge and fight from range. The two worked out of the gunslinger's hometown of Chesed until the half-elf heard of new opportunities that would await them in Torch. It's been almost 2 years since the move, and now with the violet flame extinguished, it's time for this investigator to answer the call to heroism.
