It's not on AoN yet, but here is the updated version. It changes how the spell works, requiring essentially two turns to set up now, so I'd also like to switch a single spell if I'm allowed to use the updated version.
Karina, once again, silently strums "Are... are they trying to," she gulps as she tries to regain her composure, but it's nigh-impossible to do so at this point, "Are they trying to birth their 'King' with... with the townsfolk? Any of you even hearing me?!" Once Seoli said mentions the door, Karina looks ready to bolt to the other door to find out what's in that door, to see if the Kitsune woman was correct.
Karina lets the mask slip a little, and lets At this point, she's hyperventilating a little, holding the lute by its neck, and ready to let her lute do most of the talking. She decided to speak up, her singsong voice absent as she mentally prepares herself for what's beyond the left door as she takes up the back of the party. "Left door it is. I'm... admittedly," she says, "A bit too frail to be near the front-line. All of you... all of you are right about needing to mark the door, and take the front of formation. We're only going to waste time and breath if we stand here deliberating. Let's get it over with. "
Karina silently plucks the air right above She then turns to Seoli, although Karina hadn't commented on the barely-audible mumblings before, she decides to speak up this time: "Seoli, as the Iomedean said," she adds epithets into her speech to sound more poetic, all for selling the illusion of the source of her powers, "It could merely be the ravings of a madman! Nothing to worry about," She continues warmly smiling, putting up a front of a calm musician. That's all it is though, a front She breathes a sigh of relief when she hears the android talk, "At the very least, it sounds to be metaphorical resurrection. We're unlikely to be ambushed if that's the case, as, I believe, someone would focus either on necromancy or transmutation to achieve such an effect. It's... admittedly still gutting though... like Anri said, it feels cult-like..." Her voice seems to be losing some of its melodic quality the more concerned the
Karina turns to the android, probably the person which she was the most familiar with of the entire group, and began speaking once again in her practiced voice. "Leftwards sounds like a good option to me. We should just keep in mind which way we go, and mentally reverse it for when we hit a dead end, no?"
"Heard the same thing," Karina says to Seoli. "Pervasive rumours usually have at least some kernel of truth to them. I...," she pauses to collect herself for a minute, before resuming to speak with her trademark singsong voice. "Heard a similar rumour, perhaps the hermit and the bug are related? Your guess is as good as mine, for which way to go. I'm a bard," she says as she lies about the source of her magic, "not a diviner."
Turning to the Tien monk, Karina speaks up in response. "Well," she says as she begins dumping water out of She's cold and shaking at this point, but only once she finishes emptying She then turns to Zaria after finally wringing out her clothes, whispering "good point
Karina looks visibly shaken, her grip tightening on "Oh, I'm fine, thank you for asking, Anri," she says with a warm smile, trying to hide her worry. "A bit nervous of a potential ambush if this is the hedge-wizard's hideout, though," she adds.
Hidden Priest, not false Priest. Wrong name, curse you Razmir. And thanks for the complement, MothDad. Could definitely see people having met the somewhat-outgoing She probably wouldn't try to make a living off of being a performer, though, so she'd probably only be known about in Torch.
Based it off of the False Priest from 1e, actually! Clerics pretending to be Alchemists and Witches in places like Rahadoum. This is an easier job, though. And as for how you'd have known her, as opposed to just her joining literally any party that'd save Khonnir? She'd probably be known as a local performer around Torch, owing to the whole Bard disguise.
The GM asked if there's anything I should ask in DMs, which there isn't because given the abilities, the players themselves would know that she's a witch. The characters very likely wouldn't, except barring maybe a Bard or a Witch who would know where the powers come from. Like, the moment I bring up the Rimefrost Familiar ability out-of-character, you, the player, are going to be instantly aware that the character is a Witch.

Mhm, that's the major reason. Out-of-character: it'll be fun to roleplay one class hiding as the other, haven't seen it done much. In-character: She's extremely paranoid that she'll be kicked out for being a Witch, again. As for things that'd be spoilered? I figure that it would be obvious to the players themselves from the get-go that she's a Witch due to the hexes. Figure I should be up-front about Karina being a Witch.
Figured more things out for Karina: She'd be under the tutelage of Khonnir Baine, and would presumably be one of the first town members to offer herself up for the job, even potentially without a reward offered. If she needs a proper job in town other than working with Khonnir, I could see her working with the church of Brigh. Something akin to a Clockmaker in terms of profession, but not (yet) dealing with the animating magic that fuels these clockwork constructs. As a result, I imagine she'd be pretty well acquainted with anyone associated with the local Church of Brigh? That, so far, would only include the Android Cleric and potentially NPCs.
Alright... Think perhaps Baba Yaga patron would fit best, with an eventual Inventor Archetype, under the tutelage of Khonnir? That'd leave someone who a) doesn't have an animal familiar, leading to the credibility of being a bard, and b) has a reason to introject into any adventuring group as soon as it forms, once it's known they're going for Khonnir Would that work? Could trade out the Witch patron for Resentment, but would lose some.flavor of a false Bard.
There's also Construct Eidolons, for the record: also Legacy content... but I'd at least hope the GM would let us use classes that haven't been updated to Remaster. And for tech level in Ustalav, I think the impetus is Stasian (i.e. 1918 Earth) tech being smuggled? But also, good point about the lawman. Imagine you'd be connected to the League or the Sovereign. Considering a Witch exiled from Ustalav for being, well, a Witch. Unsure of which patron, but one of the Occult ones for sure to let them hide as a Bard. Will have more concrete ideas the more info given.
Might as well answer the questions posed by other players. Player Questions: Oceanshieldwolf wrote: Will you be playing a halfling, gnome or dwarf? As much opposed to the ol' stereotypes as you are, mate. Sir Longears wrote: How thick is your skin and if you are overly sensitive about real life matters? I'll stick around at the least, this would be my only 1 or 2 PBP game's, so no chance of being overwhelmed. scranton wrote:
Not planning to make anyone to star, and am certainly here to interact with others and the setting. 2e, at least on the mechanical end, kind of forces your hand in the team player aspect. Don't have any plans of trying to circumvent that in RP either. Superveio wrote:
Should be fine. Depending on character, I did/will do that as well sometimes, so its fine by me. Seth86 wrote:
Don't have an idea for how the story should be told in the first place, so don't think this is possible :)
1) What draws you to role-playing games in general? How long have you been playing RP type games? If you don't count breaks due to having a horrible GM souring my experience, been playing for about 2 years. I want to be back to TTRPGs after that bad experience, maybe that wound can finally heal over. 2) Why do you want to join a long-term PBP game that may take several years to complete? Don't you have better things to do? Had a... less than stellar experience with a horrible GM, and it soured me on TTRPG's for a good few years. I heard about PBP a few months ago, and wanted to try it out. 3) Who is your favorite fictional character? Why? (Doesn't have to be fantasy gaming related at all) Honestly, too many to list.Have trouble picking favourites a lot of the time. Someone else said this: different characters scratch different itches. 4) How many PBP games are you playing now? How many do you apply to in a year? Zilch. Applied to two-- got rejected. Aim for applying to as many as I can to get to two or three games at once? But none of them have piqued interest until now. 5) What is the best game you ever played? Why? (Can be any kind of game, not just TTRPG etc). Recently? The Owlcat crpgs. I've had too many favourite games, so I'd have to break it up by genre-- we'd be here all day if I did that :) 6) What are the characteristics you think make a good PBP partner, whether DM/GM or PC? What do you do to encourage these characteristics in others? Haven't been able to make it into a campaign yet-- but collaboration and engagement seem key in bith players and the gm. 7) How can I make a good decision about PCs without seeing a crunch and full background? Do you think this is an effective method of finding story-telling partners? Veniir's opinion seems roughly where I'm at. Haven't been in enough (or any) campaigns to gain the experience to know-- but probably you'll know once recruitment ends. 8) What one question would you ask me, or other players to determine if they were a good fit with you? Similar to Oceanshieldwolf, but perchance coloured by bad DM in the past: "traditional" wouldn't include those small-folk ancestry stdreotypes, right? Aren't going to harass female xharacters for not being a homebody? Other than not wanting a repeat of that campaign and its misgivings, I haven't had enough experience to ask you that many questions. :) Questions directed at players? Everyone else seems to have gotten mine before I could write them up.
(for the record, my ig is easily changeable to an actual bard, the witch was just a holdover from when the concept was more geared towards reign of winter.) how traditional? you put the planet-hopping campaign and the robots from space campaign up as options. i din't think psi-tech exists in 2e man.
iron gods - a "bard," being a baba yaga witch. inventor archetype. a conductor (pun on electrical terminology) wth a lute familiar and a flute-snake construct companion. In numeria to discover electrical secrets faster than their irriseni counterparts. strength of thousands - unsure. might just go with a standard druid/wizard.
know what? screw it, changing my vote from reign of winter to iron gods. have a character concept that'd work well for both (assuming you allow a rare witch patron, that is). changing my vote from kingmaker to strength of thousands as well; i just remembered my kingmaker concept i was going to import is uh. physically impossible in 2e. so yeah
iobaria is fairly close to numeria, so would a savage technologist who fled the technic league be okay? obviously i'm not asking for tech weapons, i'd be mostly in it for the DEX rage for a rapier. you already have someone with a level in urban bloodrager, so i didn't want to take the same archetype. i know a few beats: i know a few beats to the campaign, mostly what happens in book 5... which, admittedly, influenced my archetype choice a bit here. hope it's okay that i know the vaguest of story beats to the campaign |
