This should be a pretty easy exercise for you folks here! To cut to the chase, I'm ignoring a lot of background, but just know I'm more than willing to sacrifice optimization for theme... I need a 1st level human bloodrager! I've got the CRB, APG, UM, UC, and ARG to name the "big" titles. I have the PFd20 for the bloodrager class. I've rolled 4d6 and dropped the lowest, giving me: 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 9 My bloodline will be draconic (white dragon). Character concept: brutal female savage raised in a secluded mountain encampment where the humans are slave to the white dragon. I almost hate to use this analogy, but think North Korea and the dragon is Kim Jong Il! A select few "special" humans are used as agents of the dragon: fiercely loyal and devoted. This character will start off that way until she sees the light... Thinking about having her fight two-handed with stone axes (tomahawks). My character was going to be a dragon shaman/barbarian multi-class, but then the ACG came out and I couldn't believe how the bloodrager fit my concept! This will be my group's first all Pathfinder game, so any help with feat selection, archetypes, etc. is greatly appreciated. I don't have access to the feats in the ACG, but hope so at next payday!! ![]()
![]() I haven't bought from Paizo in some time. The "new" checkout system is, well, new to me. There doesn't seem to be a media mail option, or other cheaper shipping options. I'm in shock at the shipping quote I just got for US shipping. I pared my order down from about 10 items to 1 to see if it made a difference. It did, but I was going to be charged almost $7 for standard shipping for a... magazine? I can't justify purchasing from here if the quotes are accurate. That won't hurt Paizo, but it does hurt me! I wanted the stuff! ![]()
![]() Ok, straight to the point (problem): I’ve got a new campaign getting started; the first game has yet to be played. We’re using a smattering of rules from 3.5 and Pathfinder – heck, we’re flying by the seat of our pants, what with the mixing of the two games. Anyway, I’ve got a human player character that’s got a 20 Intelligence due to an 18 plus the “+2” to an ability from Pathfinder. The player has found a feat called “Key Ability Change” (from “Experts” 3.5 maybe?) that allows you to use the modifier from one ability in place of the modifier for another. So, in his case, he’s obviously going to choose his +5 from his 20 Intelligence and use it to replace a much lower modifier (in this case, a -2 from Wisdom). Um, am I missing something or is this way out of kilter!? Evidently according to the feat’s description, the modifiers aren’t swapped (Intelligence becomes Wisdom, Wisdom becomes Intelligence), but rather the Wisdom modifier becomes the Intelligence modifier. So, he’s running around with a character whose ability score total is around 75 or 76, but in effect he’s got two 20’s for ability scores when it comes to skills (making his ability score total 95 or 96)!! Anyone want to talk me back from pressing the veto button on this one!? ![]()
![]() ...or, "Bad d20 products". Hi all! I've been finding myself gobbling up d20 material published by third-party publishers left and right here of late. The prices on most books and supplements are a bargain, and I really enjoy 3.0/3.5/PF, so it's a good fit. I've often read about sub-par d20 material and have even heard folks talk about the "glut" of d20 material a few years ago. Although I know all too well that a lot of d20 material was published over the years (especially if you add in pdfs), I have to admit that I haven't found anything just out-and-out horrible yet. What about you? What would advise someone to stay away from, third-party d20 or otherwise (3.0, 3.5, d20 Modern)? I'm not around my collection right now, but I can name a couple: Such is the Way of the Faeries: A Guide to the Thornwode Deeps by Elmore Productions (not a bad book, but not a priority for one's collection; very, very crunch lite, as if the crunch was an after thought) Tome of Battle: Book of Nine Swords (maybe it's just my taste, but um...no...) Planar Handbook (a hodge-podge, desperate attempt to ring another hardback book out of the subject of the Planes) ...? ![]()
![]() Hello all! Newbie here! I'm very interested in delving into the Pathfinder line of products. Where should I begin? I'm thinking... Pathfinder Chronicles: Gazetteer Pathfinder: Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide Rise of the Runelords 1-6 Of course, the Pathfinder: Campaign Setting looks like a "must have" when it gets released! Thanks for your guidance on this. Again, I am really impressed with the quality of Paizo products. I have seen Pathfinder stuff at a Hastings bookstore in TN, so I've seen the quality first hand. And FYI Paizo, this is one 3.Xer who plans on supporting you 100%! Lee |
