Full of grace and beauty, Toritaka is a quiet man who speaks eloquently when he decides to speak at all. He appears to be of Tian descent despite having been raised around Magnimar. His dark eyes certainly would say so, but his hair is a beautiful auburn that flows down to his shoulders. Everything except that screams that he is from the far east, from his smaller stature, to his nearly hairless face, to his skin tone and shape of his eyes, but that hair makes his stand out. So much so, that often times, he will pull his hood up to hide it, unless he is among friends. He is never seen wearing armor or carrying more than his family's blade, a wakazashi that he keeps sideways across his waist, behind him.
Personality:
Taka, as he has his friends call him, is a bit of a prankster. He is very naturally sneaky, and loves to play a quick joke on someone, but never anything that might be harmful or have any malice behind it. If ever he makes a friend mad by doing something, he never does anything to them again. While he may love the fun of it, he cherishes his friends, as he has never had many. He, in fact, seems hungry for friendship, any companionship, as he has lived a very lonely life up until this point. Anyone he does view as a friend, he becomes exceedingly protective over, and if someone does harm to his friends, well, those are pranks, but he can still bring something bad upon them without them ever knowing it.
Background:
Taka's family came to the west with a family of nobles from Minkai. The fact was, his family was part of a clan of ninjas who were dedicated to protecting an offshoot of the royal family of Minkai. Through the generations, the family dwindled and less and less of the clan that traveled to protect them were not needed. While they did not give up on their duties, many of the children were not as heavily trained and many of them were allowed to marry and not stay within the clan. Taka's mother was allowed to marry who she wanted, but she found someone who would actually fit in with the family. An outcast elf who had no family and no purpose. He took to the training of the clan and was made a part of it. Both of his parents trained him for all of his youth, and he took to it, though parts of his training, he shirked, not picking up on everything.
This all changed when his parents were working, guarding the family and there was an attack. Only his mother survived, returning to their secret home covered in blood. At first Taka thought that the blood was that of others, but as his mother's words began to get weaker, he realized that it was her own. She did not have long and as she faded away, she whispered to him, "You are free son. Go and make a name for yourself, but never forget where you came from."
For months, Taka could not decide if he would try and find more of the royals, return to Minkai and find his clan, or go elsewhere.
He instead got involved with a bit of a bad crowd and went a bit more towards the petty theft and cat burglary.
After a few close brushes with the law, Taka realized that he hated what he was becoming and decided to redeem himself. Thinking that he could find a better way if he picked up and moved to an area where people of various pasts could make a name for himself. Now he lives in the River Kingdoms, working where he can and making a name for himself as a guard and a scout. Though, many people speak of the scout with the odd sword, his family's wakazashi on his back or in his hand at all times.
