Torgen's jaw drops when he sees the dragon. "Uh... ya. A ride would be nice. " In mid -air he smiles like a child, enjoying the view. "Well, it would seem our journey is just begun! And what an excellent start it has been! "

Both weapons out now, Torgen whirls in a circle. "I said, look at me!"

Greataxe: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Warhammer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Gah, so much wrong with my last post. Good point, I'm not actually flanking. Also good point, I can't draw my weapon that way. And, I was thinking, incorrectly, that a flanked creature was flat footed.

Torgen moves over and strikes once. For a 16.

Torgen looks at the Ettin indignantly. "Oye! You can't hit him just because he's bigger than me!" He draws his earthbreaker, now wielding a weapon in each hand. "I demand equality!" With that, he swings both weapons in unison.

Earthbreaker vs Flatfooted: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Battleaxe vs Flatfooted: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

My AC is 22 vs the Ettin.

Torgen laughs and moves forward. Good thing we trained for this. My A.C. is 22 against the ettin.

He moves across from his ally and swings, but his training fails him.

Attack : 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12
Damage : 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Torgen pauses, his eyes growing wide. "Uhh... I'm not sure what that is. But it's probably the Ettin, and it doesn't look like it wants to talk! " Then he snaps into battle mode, his training kicking in. He winks at Kiliuk in response and waits for the foolish monster to charge.

Torgen delays until after the Ettin' s initiative step.

"Aye, slow and steady. Gotta keep an eye out for potential cave-ins." The dwarf crosses himself and mutters a quick prayer to the Lord of Forges. "Left sounds good. That is a wise grandma you got there."

"Thanks, m'lady. I always prefer light to my natural night vision. Less creepy. " He shivers, looking into the depths. " Let's not do anything to hasty. Remember, this guy will want to eat us for lunch. But just maybe, we can avoid a fight." He looks at Kiliuk and smiles. Wow, if he thinks he's about to fight a Hydra, he's much braver than I. Good thing he's wrong. With that, the dwarf heads into the cave.

Torgen hits his head as he remembers. "Ettins! Big scary dudes with two heads!" He shakes his head uncomfortably. "Thankfully, this region doesn't have the right food for them, so they're smaller than normal."

He follows Meraina into the hut and grabs the bundle.

"Uhh... anybody know what these potions or scroll are for?" The dwarf turns to the journal, focusing on what he knows. "Ya... this tiefling is the real bad guy here. But also... we have to go get the amulet from the cave ettin. And stop the tiefling from attacking the village." He frowns, uncomfortable with the situation.

Torgen, just about to enter the shack, yells back. "Uh-oh! I think I've heard of that one. " He scratches his beard. "Starts with an E... "

Knowledge Local?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 Probably not the right skill, but it's the only one I've got.

Torgen pulls out a pair of manacles and a bundle of rope. "These were meant for those who grabbed the crate. But they'll hold you all." He puts the manacles on the conscious Richelle and the rope on the two sleepy-babies. "Of course, the one who knew about my crate is unconscious..." He looks towards the cave. Of course, that's my fault I guess. He looks at the potions in Meraina's hand. "After we find the amulet, let's give those to our prisoners. I have some questions."

Then the dwarf heads over to the hut, yelling behind him. "Where's the amulet, girl?"

Shoot, I have Knowledge Local...

Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Torgen approaches the man's body and sighs. "Uhh... I see now. This is no devil, it is a tiefling. They are not as evil ad they appear. Usually. " He watches the other two, letting Kiliuk handle the wounded.

Seeing the boy up close, Torgen hesitates. Ah, he is but a child. Perhaps beguiled by that devil-man. Torgen drops his axe to the ground, drawing his warhammer in one smooth motion, lashing out at his opponent.

Warhammer: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Torgen screams as the arrow thuds into Kiliuk. He runs towards the source. Ignoring the arrow and magic missile screaming over his shoulders, he runs full speed ahead. Coward... I'm using the sharp end for you, pal.

"Good idea, Meraina. Happy campsite before the spooky shed and cave. " Torgen doesn't loosen his grip on his axe, however.

"Agreed! But wait for me! " The dwarf huffs and puffs as he runs after the half orc's long legs.

Torgen approaches the ruffed up teens. "The bullies. Did they have any weapons, or specific gear? "

I mean, it's about forty nine percent about the coin, fifty about getting my information, and one is just boredom. Torgen nods. "Aye, I'll join you. Bringing some kids home shouldn't be too hard. "

Torgen smiles, but his irritation shows through.

Torgen looks at Kiliuk, mildly amused. Hrmm.. I guess he doesn't know how most half -orcs are made. Ah, I prefer the Worg story to the truth. Distracting himself from those thoughts, he checks out the statue.

Perception : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

"Would have looked better in stonework. Silly dragon. " Torgen mutters, irritated at his own mistake. He picks up a flyer and laughs. "These are the kids we need to see. " He shows the flyer to the mayor and laughs again. "Y'all certainly take this fair seriously! We need to find these kids, on urgent business! "

The dwarf nods, licking a remaining bit of jam from his lips. "Aye, I'm glad I'm not the only one who appreciates a good piece of stonework!"

Torgen's eyes light up. "Ooh, don't mind if I do! " He rips off a piece of his funnel cake and dips. Between delicious mouthfuls, he speaks. "Well, if you can't help my green friend, perhaps you can help me. I'm searching for a crate. A package of ceremonial axes from the Skyforgers. " He licks his fingers, happily. "You heard anything about that from your customers? "

Torgen looks at the others sheepishly. Then, practically whispering, he mutters, "Funnel cake. " When asked to speak up, he repeats himself, almost confessing. "A funnel cake please. "

He turns at looks at the others, daring them to question the strength of a dwarf who orders funnel cake. What, it's delicious! And, there's no one from the Skyforge to jest.

" Meraina, I knew I liked you! " Torgen smiles broadly and follows her towards the stall. "Whatever she wants, I want double! "

Torgen smiles at Kiliuk. "Thank you for the offer, friend. That is quite generous. Thankfully, the Skyforgers gave me a sum to help loosen people's tongues and pay for any extra costs." He pats a small sack of gold and silver pieces at his side. "Now, if y'all help me find the package..." He winks, "Perhaps any left over can be used to help find your ring designs. Or, who you're looking for, Kiliuk."

He frowns and looks around. "Well, that's two delays. Let's try somebody else."

Torgen nods, glad the show is done with. "Aye, and I'm searching for a package. But not a puppet package, one with ceremonial axes. Have you seen anything like that? "

Torgen frowns. What kind of a town is this, banning everyone from the festival? He begrudgingly picks up a puppet and shakes it around. "But I'm NOT talking. " He whispers to Marianna just before the show starts.

Torgen swaggers up to the stage, peeking behind the wall. "Great show, friend. Loved the part where..." He stutters, trying to find something pleasant to say. What awful entertainment this is. First the terrible race, now a children's show. He gives up, "Where you did the puppet thing. Now, we're new here and were hoping you could help us find some things."

I'm good.

Torgen nods, ready to move on and see what else he can learn.

Torgen frowns. "Well, I suppose I can wait a day. Unless... there is a way for Tolwin to get out early... " The dwarf smiles a little, eager to find his quarry.

Torgen gets out of his sack quickly at the end of the race. Nearly landed on me face. THAT'S why I don't like silly games. He pats Brialla on the back however. "Well played, lass. Very impressive speed! " He looks pretty impressed, though he tries to hide it.

To the proprietor, he smiles. " I'm here on business, ma'am. For the Skyforgers. You may have heard of our excellent weaponry! " He pulls off his warhammer and offers it for her examination. "I'm a tracker, you see. Trying to find a crate of ceremonial axes that never made it South. Would you know anything about that? " He clarifies, not implying she is a thief, "Perhaps someone has been selling some, or perhaps you saw the caravan headed through? "

Torgen glares at the woman. "You dare imply that I would let down my people?" He grabs the sack and stalks over to the starting line. "Bring it on."

All right, that was a little fun.

"I will watch the foolish children. Or you act like one of them. But..." He stares at the half-orc like he is regretting his accommodating words earlier. "But I will NEVER engage in such tomfoolery."

As if our characters weren't already created to dislike each other... racial tensions AND Torgen hates fun. lol.

Torgen puts down his beer and sighs. So we're going to talk about the big green elephant in the room, eh? Well, then. He looks at the orc sideways. " I mean, you never could compete with me in looks, tusks and all. But if you can help me get my job done, I can overlook any uh... " He fingers a scar on his forearm. "Past issues with your greener ancestors. Nothing a person can do about his parents after all. " He waves at the barkeeps and orders the table another round, to relieve some tension. "After all, my parents couldn't hold me underground, or to an anvil! " He laughs loudly and looks at the half orc carefully.

"Finally, something fresh out of the keg! I suppose the hot grub isn't to bad either, Meraina." The dwarf is surly, but you feel that he likes you all the same. "Answers, Kiliuk? I am here for answers as well. Trying to find a lost shipment." He looks around the bar curiously. "Perhaps we can ask around together."
