Titus was born in Northeastern Cheliax in a small barn not far from the offices where he would later be registered in a program to train future officers of the mainline Chelaxian army. Considering his uncle was a member of the Order of the Rack, and his father an Asmodean inquisitor, patriotism and civil service were expected of him. His first steps were to the beat of the trainees marching down the street outside, his first words a pledge of allegiance to Cheliax and House Thrune Who Made Us Great, his education was among the best non-nobles can get both in military and educational manners, but you can tell none of this by looking at him, except that his weapons and armor are Chelaxian General Issue.
His personality is sarcastic and hardheaded over a deep-seeded anger as a result of a hard life. His troop was sold out to a group of insurgents looking to defect to Molthune, then after they won the ensuing fight, were discharged for “killing civilians” in a cover-up of the fact that the local Dukes were not sufficiently in control of their subordinate populace.
A dishonorable discharge from the Chelaxian military is not quite a death sentence, but it all but guarantees a criminal career, which will eventually lead to one, so Titus’ family disowned him. A true patriot, he felt deeply betrayed and his ideals had come crashing around him along with his old life. He left Cheliax and went north, somehow making his way through Nidal, and eventually into Varisia. He met with the Sczarni and through friends-of-friends and acquaintances found his way to working on an old caravan run with Sandru. Once Sandru told him that he made the money that allowed him to start his caravan adventuring, Titus decided that seemed the best, most nihilistic way of making his keep. Sticking in Sandpoint because of some mild amount of sentimentality tying him to the place where his former employer visits most often and where another former colleague lives. He has made it abundantly clear to Jubrayl that he wants no part of his gang of miscreants, however. He still has some money from Sandru and has been spending it on living a drifting life at the Rusty Dragon.
