About The Many-Faced GM

Me as a GM:

I’ve been playing role playing games since the late 90’s, everything from AD&D to World of Darkness and almost everything in between. I’ve GM’d a few games in person and a few on these boards as well. Unfortunately I had to step away from running games for a while due real life challenges but now I’m back and ready to get going again.

Initiative:

I use block initiative in all of my games. I will roll initiative at the start of combat and if you have a higher initiative than the bad guys, you go first. After that, turns alternate between the players and the bad guys. Unless you specifically state you’re waiting for someone else’s action to resolve first, I will resolve actions in the order posted. This really just helps to keep things moving. If need be, I’ll bot characters if players haven’t posted within a day or two, especially in combat. You can always post advanced actions in the Discussion thread and you will be required to post a default bot action to help me keep things moving.

Posting Expectations:

I expect daily posts. At least one a day during the week. I usually have a little more availability on the weekends but I understand not everyone does so posting on the weekends is optional, but encouraged. The more we keep this train rolling, the sooner we get to the station.

Posts should be descriptive or communicative. One liners should be kept to a minimum. I expect a little bit more and the more you put into this, the more enjoyable it will be for everyone. Out of character posts should be made in the Discussion field unless they are specific to the post being made in. For example, if you need to clarify your action in a combat round, include it in the post. If you’re asking to take a feat next level, that should be in the Discussion field.

If you’re going to be unavailable or away for a period of time, it’s best to communicate that in advance where feasible. Of course real life throws us curves, and I’m not immune, but communication is key in PBP more so than any other environment.
