![]() New update today that adds better validation and error messaging when loading data files. @StarMartyr365 & Solusek: Okay, so it seems your problem is being caused by that first popup window not being able to close itself. I made a minor change in today's update that might address it, but it's a guess at best. I must confess that I'm doubtful it will work, but I don't have much to go on (I am also on Win7 x64, so that rules out the most obvious source of the problem). ![]()
![]() Okay power users, I've got a customization guide up that documents the structure and function of the XML data files. I'll do some work on the program for better error handling on these files to make it easier on you, so you should see a new update in a couple of days. Erathmuth wrote: I did find that kobolds are missing their perception skill bonus. For some reason, the ARG kobolds don't have the bonus but the Bestiary ones do. I'm inclined to leave it as is unless folks feel strongly it should be changed. @DonDuckie & Oceanshieldwolf: Sorry guys, early on I had considered doing this web-based, but I think doing a web UI that I'd be happy with would have been too much of a hassle and distract from the rest of the project. ![]()
![]() New Update!
Oh, and just a note: The program checks for updates automatically and will prompt you when you exit. No need to creep all up on my thread to stay up to date. *: They adopted him because he pukes death on people, and that's AWESOME. ![]()
![]() Thank you for the feedback, Warhawk. In response to some of your points: Pro 2: I did the files in XML mainly for my own convenience for keeping them updated. A how-to guide for customizing them is something I'd like to get around to someday. Con 1: Very strange that it is still asking you to save. Do you get any sort of message when the crash occurs? Have you seen any pattern in what type of trait can cause this (with settings or not, valid settings or not, and so on)? Con 2: There is a File menu, but it is currently called Actions, because I originally had different plans for how the program would manage races. It will be renamed to File in the next update. If you're not even seeing the Actions menu, then - coupled with Con 1 - that sounds like something may be going haywire with your specific setup. ![]()
![]() Hello, Pathfinders! This is my first post here, so hopefully I picked the right spot for it. At any rate, I would like to share with you all a little program I made that implements the race creation rules from the Advanced Race Guide. It lets you build a race using the traits found in the ARG, and then it will generate a rulebook-style entry that you can copy/paste elsewhere. |
