Apocrypha Scarab

I like the idea, but I could see some quailing at the idea of a Cleric zombifying an ally so that he can walk him home for ressurection (and might even say that the zombification makes the corpse unraisable).

Can the scarab be cut out *before* the ressurection, 'killing' the zombie once it's back home, but preserving the item for later use?

I love the name, but the item itself doesn't really 'do it' for me.

I can't speak for my partner (we signed up as a team), but my intent was that it could only be used once. You turned your friend into a zombie, and when you got him home you put a dagger in his brain killing him (can't resurrect an undead, but can resurrect a body that was once an undead). The scarab fuses with the body becoming it's new heart, thereby preventing you from using another scarab on that individual. We were going to go into some detail about how the scarab could be exploited by the BBEG if we made it forward. It was pretty much intended for a horror campaign were good and evil weren't exactly clear cut.

I guess we might be a gluttons for punishment. Whats the word on our entry...

Apocrypha Scarab
Aura faint necromancy; Caster Level 5th
Body Slot Throat; Price 43,200 gp; Weight 1 lb.

Originally the golden clockwork Apocrypha Scarab was created by a Cleric who was tired of dealing with the corpses of adventurers. If someone died out in the boondocks, the body had to be dragged back to him, usually in terrible condition. So he began research into this helpful item. Sadly it proved too expensive to produce en masse so the project was abandoned, but the research remains.

When the command word is uttered and the scarab is placed on a corpse, as a Swift Action it animates and burrows into the chest where it latches onto the dead heart and reanimates the body as a Zombie. It is under the control of whoever spoke the command word, and will follow their orders. The body will not decay as long as the scarab is inside it, and if Raised or Resurrected the victim doesn’t lose any Constitution points as the scarab melds with their heart permanently. Otherwise speaking the command word again causes it to crawl out.

Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, Animate Dead, Gentle Repose, Lesser Restoration;
Cost 21,600 GP, 22 days, 864 XP

Ok. Thank you very much for setting me straight.

Okay, We are starting this thread because we have been looking through the various discussions and cannot seem to find the answers we need. We assumed there were likely others suffering from similar dilemmas, so we figured this would be a good place for everyone to come with their own specific concerns.

Our first and most worrisome concern is that we are not sure if there was supposed to be some sort of confirmation for our entry. We have gotten the impression that there was supposed to be, but we did not get one. Is there one? We are afraid to try submitting our item again (don't want to get disqualified), but not being sure the submission made it through the first time has just been nagging us.
So was there supposed to be a confirmation or not?

Second, and this is more from DonThel (I am the one starting this thread), were we supposed to include the skill checks summary? It wasn't clearly specified and I am a little worried.

If anyone can help ease mine and my partners minds that would be wonderful.

Also, if anyone else wants to jump in here with a question or concern feel free. I am sure more than a few of us could use some peace of mind.

My entry is in the bag with all of yours. Now to go and pray to some heathen gods... And maybe sacrifice a chicken...

Wait! Is there supposed to be some sort of confirmation email or screen I need to get or see?

Team Kitteh has joined the fray! Our item will be offered up to the judgment soon...
