Tanjah is a proud Shoanti warrior of the Sklar-Quah (Sun Clan). While riding against an incursion of orc raiders from the Hold of Belkzen, her unit was captured as slaves by the orcs. They found that her prowess in battle made her a valuable gladiator, and she fought in bloodsport areans. Her fame grew to the point where she was taken to Kaer Maga and fetched a handsome price to a Chelish trader. However, before the sale could be completed, a squad of Freemen attacked the slave auction, bolstered by a regiment of Andoren Steel Falcons. The aboltionists freed all of the slaves in the market, offering refuge in other cities in Varisia. Tanjah took the option to leave, and went with the Steel Falcons down the Darklight Path to a waiting Andoren riverboat. On the trip down the Yondabarki to Magnimar, one of the Steel Falcons became impressed with Tanjah's skill-at-arms, and recommended that she might find work at the Pathfinder Lodge at Heidmarch Manor in Magnimar. She presented herself to the Pathfinders, and got a job where her gladitorial skills can be put to good use.
