I'm planning to run Kingmaker AP soon and would like to further develop the concept of the Aldori Swordlords as a political force in Brevoy.
On my game (and based on several ideas disseminated on the forums), in addition to rigorous training and a solemn oath - the Aldori Swordpact -, candidates for the Aldori Swordlords must abandon their family surname (and consequently any title or line of succession).
On one hand, this requirement makes the organization very attractive for any second son/daughter and/or low-born citizen seeking social ascension and prestige. Being an Aldori Swordlord would represent the perfect opportunity to rewrite your own story, untied from family bonds and obligations, and free from the weight - and sins - of your past surnames!
On the other hand, it creates another problem: how to resolve issues involving the assets and property owned by deceased Aldori Swordlords?
Giving some thought to it, I believe it would make the Free City of Restov a fruitful environment for barristers and devotees/clerics of Abbadar dedicated to providing legal services, most of them specializing in the resolution of real estate disputes and other complex problems.
In the same sense, wills would be extraordinarily common and appreciated legal instruments!
In the absence of any will or equivalent document, would the estate of the late Aldori Swordlord pass to the organization (which could distribute his lands, titles, and other assets as it pleases, perhaps even opening disputes involving duels between the interested parties)?
What do you think of this (or how did you solve this problem in your campaigns)? I'd like to think about these sorts of things ahead of time because I'm planning to make Brevoy, the Aldori Swordlords, political machinations, and the impending civil war a significant part of my game, and that would help make the setting richer and the organization more believable.

Thank you, Jim! Its realy meaningfull to know that Paizo, after all, listened to their brazilian fans and took measures to garantee a (assiduous and professionally made) BR Portuguese pathfinder version would come to Brazil! I also thank all my brazilian mates, whom united their voices to mine and made this great change possible!

Hi, I'm a brazilian Pathfinder and taking advantage of the impact of the announcement of the 2nd edition of Pathfinder RPG, I'd like to say a few brief but meaningful words.
Here in Brazil, Pathfinder's license is in Devir publishing company hands. However, in almost 10 years of the game, they have published only the Core Rulebook and Bestiary (in 2015, 6 years after the Core release in english), two books and nothing more... Not even an information or news. Zero. Zip. Nothing. Nada.
As demonstrated over so many years and through other works (of VERY questionable quality, it is important to say) they have no respect for the fans, and do not intend to publish anything else related to Pathfinder, just because they think that it is not profitable enough.
So, I (representing the others brazilian Pathfinders) came here to ask your help: PLEASE, Paizo, don't give/sell the 2nd Edition license/rights to Devir, at Brasil. We want to buy and play the game in brazilian portuguese, to spread the hobby to new players, but Devir has already shown that it is not willing to do so. They just DON'T WANT to publish.
We have a lot of other qualified, excellent publishing companies here, so please, don't sell it to Devir. Sell it to anyone, apart from them.
PLEASE! LISTEN TO THE BRAZILIAN FANS! DO NOT SELL THE RIGHTS TO DEVIR!
To the international community, I just need your help. Make this message reach Paizo's staff, share the hashtag #foraDevir in portuguese and #notDevir in english, so they can see it and regards to give a more fair destiny to the game.
I also posted it on the Pathfinder RPG Facebook group! Please support it!

We have a lot of qualified publishers that could do a excellent work in Pathfinder Second Edition. Please, look how Devir treated PF1 and don't sell PF2 to them in Brazil. In almost 10 years of PF1, just two books translated/released...
Exactly! Devir is a miserly company, which acquires the licenses just to make them unavailable to other publishers! They bought PFRPG license and, in about 5 years (or more), released the Core Rulebook and Bestiary only. They are not interested in publishing RPG books because they think that it is not profitable enough and, with that, the Brazilian players do not have access to the material in BR-Portuguese! Please grant the Pathfinder Second Edition license to a committed and respectful publishing company! #ForaDevir
