Talia has always been somewhat of a lonely soul growing up. She has lived her whole life studying magic with her foster family, the Steelsmiths. Talia has always been possessed of a peculiar skill with manipulating magic, showing great skill and understanding in how magic as a whole functions.
Her parents at a young age went into the Worldwound on a secret mission, and left little Talia with her foster family for safekeeping. Instructions were given to raise her as a Riftwarden, as well as to do whatever was needed to encourage her curiosity in all things magical. Talia knows that even though her human family cares for her, and has done everything to make sure she has had a normal life, she doesn't quite feel at home. There is just that inkling like something is very wrong.
Talia's gifts started to materialize shortly after her ninth's naming day, where she started to display capablities to not only manipulate magic, but also tap into her celestial heritage and manipulate heavely fire to a small degree. She was quickly taken in by Riftwardens, and while she lived at home, she trained as a battlemage. An arcanist trained to combat the demons on the front lines, and to help the crusaders of Mendev properly combat the growing demon menace.
In her training, she has found purpose. She has grown to love not so much the fighting, but the bathing in magical power she does every time she casts a spell or uses her powers. She feels it brings her closer to a truth of the world, and also closer to her parents. Even during her training she has searched, but all her seeking has come to no avail. The best reports say that her parents were lost behind enemy lines, but there has of late grown a very deep feeling in the pit of Talia's stomach that someone killed her parents. Though she still holds out hope.
On the day Terendelev fell, Talia was away from the city, out on a menial task for her family to gather some specific foods and equipment for the forge. She returned to a broken home, and her foster family dead from the tragedy. Knowing that whatever caused the great silver dragon to fall also killed her foster family, Talia mourned for a whole day in the broken remains of the house. It was not till a paladin of Iomedae came looking for survivors that she was helped out of the house, a tattered mess of tears and blood stains as she tried to care for the bodies of her fallen family.
Given a couple of days to recover, Talia spent time in study and meditation. She finally resolved to herself that she would not go quietly, but that she would fight. Fight for her family that had passed, fight for those that could not fight. To try and defend other innocents in the city.
Talia now works to help the wardens, and also the crusaders of Mendev in the struggle to secure the city, and take the fight back to the demons that destroyed the only home she has ever known.
