So, according to the weapon master's handbook, once you hit level 9 as a fighter, rather than taking more groups for weapon training, you can instead pick one of several "advanced weapon trainings" for the groups you already have, including Fighter's finesse, which says "The fighter gains the benefits of the Weapon Finesse feat with all melee weapons that belong to the associated fighter weapon group (even if they cannot normally be used with Weapon Finesse)".

Now, if you were to then take 3 levels of unchained rogue, could you for finesse training pick one of the weapons from Fighter's finesse that can't normally be used with weapon finesse to get dex to damage with, say, a greatclub? Effectively, when finesse training says to "select any one type of weapon that can be used with Weapon Finesse", does it mean one type of weapon that YOU can use with weapon finesse, or one type that can normally used with weapon finesse?

I know this is kind of a corner case since you'd need to be level 12 to pull it off, but it could make for some interesting high level npcs. And if this is the wrong place to post such a question I apologize.


I was thinking of making a bloodrager who switched to dragon disciple once he can (I know dragon disciple doesn't normally stack with bloodrager for bloodlines, my GM is houseruling it). When I saw that he got claws at level 1, a bite attack at level 7 (5 bloodrager +2 disciple) and could take a gore attack at level 4 if I went primalist archetype and took lesser beast totem rage power, I started thinking about whether it would be viable to go for a natural weapon build rather than a two-handed weapon build. You get more attacks at a higher to-hit faster. However, this campaign looks like it may get into the later levels and since there are three different natural weapons, if I take feats to keep up with the progressing difficulty, something like weapon focus only applies to one type of attacks (so only half of my attacks if I picked claws, a quarter if it was for bite or gore), while if I did that for a manufactured weapon like greatsword, the bonus would apply to all of the attacks I made in a turn as they get multiple attacks at high BAB. Also, while if I'm using weapons I can always get a better enchantment on it when I get the money, as far as I know the only way to boost natural attack damage is with improved natural attack, which is nice but drops off later.

So what I'm asking I guess is if anyone has any opinions about whether from an optimization standpoint it would be better on the whole to go natural attacks, or just focus on two-handed weaponry and use whatever natural attacks I get as secondary attacks when I'm making a full attack action. To simplify things let's just consider from level 7 onwards, once he gets his full natural attacks routine. I haven't been playing pathfinder for long, and even then my area of expertise is more in full-casters, but I wanted to try something different and was looking for any opinions people may have.
