Male Human Arcanist 5

"Bukka here is a strong lad! And as for myself? I have some small arcane talent I might use to help. I can grant your sailors to climb the masts like monkeys, or perhaps survive the extreme cold of a storm. Or repair broken items about the place. And so forth. I am also a fairly able geometric scholar which I could use to help with navigation."

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Bees indeed? I hope you have someone who knows how to keep them!

Quickly trying to remember if he has any sting soothing spells...

"A reasonable price. Half now, half on arrival?"

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Ah, good afternoon to you madam. I wish to obtain passage to Bag Island for myself and my colleague here. I had heard that you were the person to talk to for speedy and discreet transportation...?"

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe smiles warmly.
"It is rare indeed to find a kinsman in these parts, do you speak Polyglot? I am of the Vanji dialect."
If he does I will continue in Polyglot, if not then obviously continue in Common.
"I wonder if you can help me. I am looking for speedy and discreet passage to a particular location. Perhaps you know of someone who could provide me with such a service?"
Playing it safe, this place is full of scheming, being as vague as possible until I'm sure seems the best bet

Male Human Arcanist 5

OK, Zambe is going to approach Captain Jewell first to feel out a price. He wants to get there fast, but he isn't here to get involved in pirate disputes, he just wants to retrieve the item as soon as possible.

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe will head to the docks and try to negotiate passage on a ship headed to Bag island.

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe remembers looking over some navigation charts while on the voyage here. Did he see Bag Island...?
Knowledge(Geography): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Well Bukka...that could have gone better. I don't suppose you've heard of an all-halfling pirate band?"
While talking, I will be walking back towards the better part of town, so I can interrogate the populus again if Bukka doesn't know. After all, that worked so well last time!

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Get out of the city for a while, lie low. Zagwell shouldn't trouble you, he doesn't even know your name, and besides, we didn't actually steal anything. Those thugs at the inn, though, knew where to look for you, and they will find you again if you stay. My advice is to go on a long voyage and sign on with an assumed name. Hopefully by the time you return we will have dealt with the matter entirely. If there is anything else you know about the stolen chart or the voyage or anything, please tell me now, the sooner I am able to solve this the sooner you are safe."

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Run! Now!"
If everyone is coming I will take my own advice, if the young sailor isn't coming I will drag his arm and try to pull him. If he resists too much I will just let him stay.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe meets Bukka's eye for a second in a way that he hopes implies "get ready, I'm going to try something".

Casting Grease
Arithmancy:
G R E A S E

Spellcraft DC=10+1+1=12
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Success! Spell is cast at +1 caster level

Sacred Geometry (quicken):

Prime Constants: 43, 47, 53
Sacred Geometry: 5d8 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 8, 5) = 21
(8x4)+[(3x5)x1]=47
Success!
Quickened Grease!

Using the rest of my action I would like to ready for when the stuff falls so I am not too covered.

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe's going to look around and examine the structure of the shelves to see if there is any way he can make them collapse with mage hand from here. Hopefully onto Zagwell, or at least distract him.
Knowledge(Engineering): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Bukka, do as he says."
Turning to face the pirate.
"Ah, my dear sir. We have been pursuing this fellow and he, rather foolishly, ran into your warehouse here. We have him now, so if you would allow us to simply return to Master Fallows..."
Hoping the name drop will make things easier...

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Please. Your last voyage. The map that was stolen. Anything you know. We have very little time."

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Calm down, everyone!" Says Zambe's disembodied voice.
"We are trespassing in this warehouse and the guards will soon be coming for us. I highly suggest that we work together for a better outcome. We mean you no harm, young man." This is directed at the sailor but obviously nobody can tell which way Zambe is looking.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Ah, of course" says Zambe with a friendly smile.
Now, if I just transpose the variables...here!
Casting quickened Invisibility before they can react

Arithmancy:

Success! Spell is cast as a swift action
Duration: 6 mins

Zambe will then slip past before they have a chance to even react and enter the warehouse.

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Please, gentlemen." Zambe raises his hands "He was perusing a man we would like to talk to, who must have come into this warehouse here. I assure you we have no interest in this warehouse or its contents, we merely wish to help you in ejecting this intruder and then we will be on our way."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Ah, thank goodness, some upstanding citizens of this fair town! Please, have you seen a Tengu pass this way?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe will push his body to run as fast as he can, thinking as he goes that he should really get in better shape for the next mission.

Male Human Arcanist 5

Muttering a curse which he usually reserves for particularly challenging algebraic proofs, Zambe will scan the area, looking for any sign of Bukka or the sailor, or any clue as to the direction they went. Assuming he sees something then he will run in the direction he thinks (hopes) Bukka and the sailor went.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Male Human Arcanist 5

First things first, Zambe will look back into the tavern to make sure that everyone got out.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Then he will pick out the Sailor in the crowd and say in a low voice:
"Bukka, our young friend doesn't look too well, go and make sure he's all right will you?"

Casting Sleep on the sailor
Duration: 5 mins
Will Save negates: DC 17

Male Human Arcanist 5

At last the pieces fall into place, and Zambe points both his index fingers in the direction of the alchemical fuel, desperately hoping that his calculations are correct.

First ray:
Geometry (quicken):
Effective Level+4+0=4
Prime Constants: 31, 37, 41
geometry: 5d8 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 2, 3) = 13
[(2x5)x3]+(2-1)=31
Success! Spell is cast as a swift action
attack roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
That means I can use my standard action to cast again.
Second Ray:
attack roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Mr. Bukka! Tear down this wall!" Zambe shouts, pointing to a particularly weak-looking point in the crate wall that (hopefully) isn't load-bearing.
To see how good the place I point to is:
Knowledge(Engineering): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20

Zambe spends the rest of his turn flicking to the page in his spellbook that contains Ray of Frost and calculating the optimal casting gestures.
Using Quick Study to unprepare Acid Splash and prepare Ray of Frost in its place

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe will attempt to telekinetically maneuver the dark eyed man's bag. He is hoping that his keen depth perception and spatial awareness will allow him to skillfully maneuver the bag into his hand for further inspection.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Male Human Arcanist 5

"If we could discuss this I am sure we could come to an amicable agreement"
Zambe casts Grease in a 10-ft radius around the sneaky bugger with the bag. Taking advantage of the arcane topography of the bar, he shoots off a Grease spell in a fraction of a second.

Arithmantic Calculation:
G R E A S E
7+9+5+1+1+5=28
2+8=10
1+0=1
Spellcraft DC=10+1+1=12
Spellcradt: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
Spell is cast at +1 caster level

Sacred Geometry Calculation (Quicken Spell):
Effective spell level: 5
Prime Constants: 43, 47, 53
Sacred Geometry: 5d8 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 8, 5) = 18
(5x8)+1-1+3=43
Success! The spell is cast as a swift action:
Reflex save: DC 21 or fall prone
Duration: 6 mins

And for my standard action, I will tap Bukka on the shoulder and say "Be careful. Don't kill them unless you have to."
Casting: Protection From Evil on Bukka
Arithmantic Calculation:
P R O T E C T I O N F R O M E V I L
7+9+6+2+5+3+2+9+6+5+6+9+6+4+5+4+9+3=100
1+0+0=1
Spellcraft DC=10+1+1=12
Spellcradt: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33
Spell is cast at +1 caster level

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Oh, come now, is this really neccessary? We're trying to have a discussion here!"
While speaking Zambe is performing the arcane hand gestures required to cast the sleep spell. I'm also performing lightning-fast mental calculations relating to the arcane geometry of the surrounding area.

Arithmantic Calculation:
S L E E P
1+3+5+5+7 = 21
2+1=3
Digital Root = 3
Spellcraft DC = 10+1+3=14
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
It's actually impossible for me to fail this roll, but I've included it anyway. Spell is cast at +1 caster level.

Sacred Geometry Calculation for Echoing Spell:
Effective spell level: Sleep base level 1+Echoing Spell 3=4
4th level prime constants: 31, 37, 41
5 ranks in knowledge engineering: rolling 5d8
Sacred Geometry: 5d8 ⇒ (8, 5, 4, 3, 6) = 26
(4x3)+8+5+6=31

So casting sleep takes a full round action but it is cast at +1 caster level and I don't use up the spell slot.
Will Save DC: 19
Duration: 6 Minutes
Affects 4HD total of creatures in a 10 foot radius.

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Gentlemen, gentlemen please. I simply require a little information and I will take up no more of your time. I want to hear about the voyage you have just completed, and the fate of your...cargo."
Zambe will jangle a couple of loose coins while saying this. Might be too subtle for this lot though!

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe strides confidently into the "pub". He makes a beeline for the crewman and stands in front of the table until a suitable moment to interrupt (don't want to be rude).
Assuming they do break off their conversation:
"Ah, my good sir! I apologize for the interruption but I believe you may have information I require concerning one of your previous voyages. Perhaps we could discuss it?"
Don't want to appear insulting by offering coin too early in front of his friends, hopefully he will realize it is implied. Plus revealing where I keep my money in this kind of place is probably a bad idea, even with Bukka.

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe respects his new companion's silence, content to have a one-sided conversation with himself on innumerable topics he is sure his companion finds fascinating.

Still, there is one topic he needs to ask further about, the most likely tavern to find information on such a disreputable group as the one which stole our artifact. Having located a suitable hive of scum and villainy, Zambe attempts to pick up on rumors about recent pirate activity, acting like someone who wants to hear a good story about it. If he gets anywhere, he will press for further information to determine if this is the robbery he is interested in.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe begins to walk towards the door, assuming the Tengu will come with him. He speaks amiably to Bukka, hoping to form at least a good working relationship with his new companion.
"Well, Master Bukka, it seems we will be working together in this. Tell me, how did you come to be in the employment of Master Fallows?"

In truth Zambe feels a little apprehensive at the vagueness of his instructions, but he tries to appear confident in front of the Tengu until he has learned more about his character.

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe bows to Fallows and Bukka in turn. He has difficulty disguising his glee and fascination at the sight of such rare and exotic creature.
"My heartfelt gratitude to you, sir, I am sure our partnership shall be fruitful."

Zambe extends his hand to the Tengu in a gesture of trust and friendship.

Male Human Arcanist 5

Well, this makes things easier...
"Of course! We are of one purpose in this. My task is the recovery of the artifact."
Zambe grins again.
"The fact that I will bring justice to murderous thieves in the process could be called a nice bonus, yes?"
Seems like he already has an idea about a plan to get this done, I'll let him talk and see if I like what he says. And if I think he's being genuine.

Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 12

Male Human Arcanist 5

Nothing is gained by lying to a potential ally.
"Now? The same thing as when I first arrived here. I intend to locate this academically invaluable artifact, protect it from further damage, and transport it to a place of safety where it can be studied."
This is a place of coin, aid would probably be most easily be gained by hinting at possible future payment.
Zambe cracks a wide smile
"And, of course, to fairly compensate its legitimate owners."

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe bows low.
"It is indeed an honour to be in the presence of a man of stature such as yourself."
After hearing what he says:
"Ah, perhaps I have missed the auction? The journey was rather long."

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Thank you"
Zambe will wait for the other man to sit before him, politeness costs nothing.
"I have been sent here on behalf of my university to obtain an item of some academic interest to us, namely an old star map recently discovered near here in your...Sodden Lands, they are called? I believe that there is a plan to auction this item and I wish to place bids, as it were."
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Zambe's not exactly an expert in reading people but hopefully I can tell if he is relaxed about this situation or if I have broken protocol in some way.

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Cisse. Zambe Cisse." I shake her by the hand if allowed "Alas, I have no appointment, but perhaps you can help me. I am here regarding a particular item up for auction, do you perhaps have a list of such things?"

I size up the building and foyer while speaking, looking for any details that might prove useful.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Male Human Arcanist 5

"No, my heartfelt gratitude, you have been most helpful"
I will shake him warmly by the hand and exit the inn, after finishing my drink of course.

Zambe will follow the barman's instructions to the letter, he has always been blessed with a good sense of direction. Assuming he gets there, he will size up the building, if it looks open he will go inside and see if there is some kind of reception.

Male Human Arcanist 5

"You are hospitable indeed! I must clarify, though, I am not a representative of this organization and could not accept gifts in their name. I am but a humble patron. Please, accept my payment and know that I will have warm words in my speech for the Singing Gull"

Whether he accepts my payment or not I will continue:

"This Fallows and sons, an important place here yes? You seem most respectful of them."

Male Human Arcanist 5

"Ah, and a most pleasant noontide to you, sir. I come to seek refreshment and shelter from the heat, and also to inquire as to the locations of particular establishments in this fair city of yours, can you provide me with these things?"
(Zambe has an excellent grasp of Common but is unused to casual conversation in it)

After he replies I will order a middling price beverage with a low alcohol content and sit at the bar, after he's given me my drink I will ask about the location of "Fallow's and Sons".

Male Human Arcanist 5

Zambe took a moment to soak in the atmosphere of the vibrant town. It was chaotic, yes, and filthy too, but most importantly it was...different. Appealing, in an exotic sort of way. Somehow any number of books on the strange lands beyond the Expanse were no preparation for seeing it in the flesh.

Still, there was no time for wonder. Always keeping one eye on his pack and pockets, he began to stride along what for want of a better word he had to call the "street". Heading away from the docks, towards the tavern district.

Making the basic assumption that affluence increased directly in proportion with distance from the docks, he picked a likely looking tavern a good distance away. Hopefully a drink would come with free directions to "Fallow's". He wouldn't want to make a fool of himself by getting lost in the trading district in front of his possible competitors.

Satisfying himself that he has chosen the least grubby tavern in the immediate vicinity, Zambe stepped inside.

Male Human Arcanist 5

Hi everyone, glad to be joining this game, as you know I was in the original incarnation of this game which didn't last much beyond Bandrift's death. Your group seems much more competent! I'm putting the finishing touches to my Arcanist character who will be joining soon, he is a mathematically inclined member of the Magaambya academy, so you guys will have a native guide! If you have any advice/requests for the build I should use to better complement the group then I will see if I can add them.
