Suhaila Liliya "Suli" Ayperi
At first glance, this girl's big blue eyes, dark olive complexion, and slender build mark her as a young Varisian, but any further scrutiny makes her divine heritage apparent; large, gleaming white wings protrude from her back, and her short hair shines like gold. Although she wears the robes of a highly-ranked Shelynite priestess, she appears to be quite young for the role, and whether she's displaying her signature smile or her (equally signature) petulant frown, her wings flutter and droop to match her emotions.

Suhaila was born to a caravanning family in Varisia. Because neither of her parents were qualified to care for her, she was spoiled raised by her older brother, Casamir, who introduced her to the worship of Shelyn; under his guidance, she discovered and honed her talents for singing, painting, and whining until she gets what she wants peaceful negotiation. By the time she was twelve, however, the caravan was doing poorly; the family was nearing starvation, so Casamir made the decision to leave and try to earn them some money through adventuring. After promising Suhaila he would return, he left under cover of night, making tracks for Absalom.

Although her brother sent regular letters and money, Suhaila was devastated by his absence; lonelier than ever, she reached out to Shelyn for guidance and support. The goddess, who sympathized with the girl’s pain, responded; Suhaila’s fondness and respect for the deity grew into a deep, familial love, and she spent her young adolescence training to become a member of Shelyn’s clergy.

She continued in this way until the age of seventeen, at which point, she could wait no longer; with her glaive, her faith, and all the good intentions a naive teenager can have, Suhaila made her way to Absalom. On the boat ride there, she met Silhren and Hroth, who became her dearest friends, and Treval, the farm boy-turned-swordsman whom she quickly fell for and eventually married. Now, she works alongside her friends, her husband, and her big brother as a highly-ranked Silver Crusader and Pathfinder seeker.

Despite her young age, Suhaila has recently earned herself an honorary tenured position at the Acadamae in Korvosa; concerned by the apparent bullying on campus, she has taken it upon herself to become the school’s first guidance counselor. When present, she primarily teaches her students about building healthy relationships, but she has been known to offer music, painting, and religious classes when the mood strikes.

On the plus side, Suli has a naturally compassionate nature, lots of energy, and a strong desire to do the right thing; she will often go out of her way to help people in need, whether that means protecting them, helping them procure necessities, or simply helping them develop healthier emotional connections with their loved ones and themselves. The nickname "Shelyn's Songbird" is an apt one, as well; whether she's on duty as a Pathfinder, helping out at the church, or just relaxing, Suhaila is very frequently found humming, whistling, or singing cheerful tunes under her breath. Additionally, she is a strong proponent of Shelyn's ideal that "All things that live love beauty, and I will show beauty's answer to them." As such, she is willing to offer kindness and respect even to creatures that are obviously evil, in the hopes of facilitating redemption, if it is at all possible.

Less admirably, it is not uncommon for Suhaila's exuberance and strong moral compass to devolve into petulant and irrepressible arguing, childish insults, and whining, should she feel that things aren't going her way. Despite his best intentions, her brother spoiled her in her youth, and her expectation that life should cater to her whims never quite dissipated. In extreme cases, she has even been known to go into fits of shouting and foot-stomping that are not at all unlike tantrums. She is also occasionally impulsive, despite being wise for her age; at these times, her idealism overcomes her good sense, and she has even been known to endanger her allies with her blind trust of others, poorly-timed honesty, and overzealous good intentions.

Fortunately, once she calms down, Suhaila is generally capable of recognizing her mistakes and apologizing for them; unfortunately, this almost never facilitates any actual change in behavior, and subsequent slip-ups are inevitable and should be expected.
