Wow, you're right. I've always seen it played as the same 1 minute duration as infernal healing, but as written, it's pretty terrible, especially as a wand...

Well, a first level CL1 command word item with two charges/day would be 1 * 1 * 1800 / (5 / 2) = 720gp. Eternal wands are usually priced the same as regular wands, which for first level CL1 would be 750gp. If infernal healing isn't available, what about celestial healing?

GM Fanguar wrote: @Jwee: She would have to be traveling pretty quickly. I'm not doing the math to tell you exactly how fast. 1g = 32.174 ft/s^2, so falling 25ft takes about 1.2 seconds. Assuming a ballistic trajectory, starting horizontal, that would equate to a horizontal velocity of about 32ft/s, or about 22 miles/hour (faster than the average human can sprint, but well below the human footspeed record). The pathfinder rules allow for a 4x run when unencumbered. With a human's base speed of 30ft per round, a 4x run means 120ft per round or 20ft/s. Jumping upward adds more air time, so the horizontal velocity could be lower. A DC20 acrobatics check allows a 5ft vertical leap, which would extend the air time to about 2 seconds. That would only require a horizontal speed of about 20ft/s, or our 4x run speed. So, not impossible, but not easy... Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 131d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Sterling takes a few minutes to examine the scene, looking for any sign that the situation is not as it seems. Perception take-20: 20 + 9 = 29

We're using the "commonplace" rules for firearms, so 1/4 price and they're considered a martial weapon. Alchemists only get proficiency with simple weapons and bombs, so you would still need a feat to be proficient with firearms.

Yeah, that would make us want to avoid them. Question, are eternal wands available? They usually cost about the same as a regular wand with 50 charges (the magic item creation rules would actually make them a little cheaper), but instead they have 2 charges per day.

Sterling ponders this as he rides. It's stranger than that. If each floor is 10ft, a fourth-floor ceiling is about 40ft up, but the base of the window is less than 35ft. That fence also must be at least 10ft high, so landing on top would suggest a glide ratio closer to 2 to 1.

Hidrstrblin "Sterling" Biddlestocks, reporting in. I take it the group is between missions?
GM Fanguar wrote: Don't worry about equipment at the moment. Due to the nature of the AP, it's super easy to get gear and swap gear, so you can decide your load-out once you know what the mission is. I get that, I'm mostly looking to outfit the character with some "flavor" items. Maybe a musical instrument because he's a bard, a >10gp outfit, a nice pocket watch, maybe some cheap wondrous items like Sleeves of Many Garments or an ioun torch if we have sufficient funds. These are things I probably wouldn't spend my stipend on, but they're worth having in general if they can be personal items.
"Sterling" Biddlestocks wrote: ...but guns aren't cheap at level 2... Ah, just figured out what "commonplace" firearms means. 1/4 price makes them a lot more viable. A quick search of the gameplay/discussion threads also reveals that the current stipend for requisitions is 1000gp, so that's useful info, but we still need to know how much equipment of their own our characters should have. Is it still just the class starting gp (maxed out, per the original character creation guidelines), or the 1000gp from the wealth by level table, or something in between?
My Character sheet is almost finished. I'm a little unclear on the wealth and equipment part, given that we are starting at level 2. How much gold do we have to spend, and what types of weapons/armor can we requisition? How about firearms (note: I took the "The Man with Two Guns Is God" theme feat, but guns aren't cheap at level 2...)? |
