The repeated questions from Demian cause Timeon to flinch and squeeze his eyes closed as if to not see it would make it not be.

He finally opens his eyes and scuffles back at the threats from Morthos. "You were supposed to help us escape. You promised we would get out of here." He is clearly in shock at what has happened. "Are you going to kill me too?"

"Nooooo!" Timeon screams and finally moves, running to Sir Balin, ignoring everything else around him.

"Sir Balin! Help me! We must get out of here. I know the way!"

When the undead are dominated bu Morthos Timeon seems extra terrified. "You're a necromancer! I won't help you!"

Timeon just stands there frozen in fear at seeing the dead come back to life.

The cowardly Timeon does not move to attack. try a skill check to influence him

Bringing up the rear, the brave Timeon speaks. "I can't see. We should go up the stairs and leave. The traps gone so its safe."

Timeon moves forward, taking the amulet from the other side of the podium from the goblin to keep his distance. He glances up towards the stairs several times. Is he thinking of fleeing? Nothing happens and he hands it to Morthos.

Barnabus can you roll perception

It only takes 5 weeks to break the Squire. Timeon was of weak mind and easily manipulated. Now he is loyal to you and eager to gain retribution from Talinguarde. He learns to rather enjoy commanding the slaves. He stays as far away from Tiadora as possible as he fears her for some reason.

Currently a level 1 Aristocrat, you can retrain him in a PC class. He can gain levels from fighting with you or from completing missions (up to your level -2). You must pay for any extra equipment. Thorn takes no responsibility for extra minions that you recruit. As such he is also not part of the pact.

The cobra is destroyed by Barnabus.

I will have the elemental and Morthos move to the last small cobra to attack and do their damage.
Morthos, the elemental and Timeon all switch targets to the last remaining small cobra and inflict damage.

aid Morthos: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 no

Aid Morthos: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
+2 to next attack

previous round that I forgot to post
aid Morthos: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
+2 to next attack

"Nooo! That's not true!" Timeon says in defiance through tears as he is still tied to the table. The young man's faith is strong, but you see some doubt. Perhaps cracks are forcing their way in. In time he may break. For now if he is to be kept alive he should be kept captive with no chance to leave.
Diplomacy, intimidate, something of the sort will start to influence him if you're wanting to recruit him as a follower. Or are you leaving him there in the dark as you return to Thorn?

aid Morthos: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Timeon manages to be helpful. +2 to next attack

He cries in pain as you cut him, trying in vain to break out of the restraints holding him to the torture table. The infernal ritual scares him all the more.

What do you guys intend to do with Timeon going forward?

Timeon moves past the elemental to continue helping Morthos.

aid Morthos Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

He does nothing of use.

Merry Christmas and holidays to everyone! It's always a busy and crazy time but thanks for being patient. Everyone in all my games gets the 'holiday spirit' buff! All PCs and friendly NPCs are now at full HP! Ok so not useful since you finished the lessons already lol. oh well.

Timeon is shocked, horrified, speachless and more at the gruesome sight of his former master's decapitated head displayed in front of him. He starts to cry. His face is red. He is terrified of what you might do to him next.

Timeon aid another: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Still mostly useless and not fully trained, the Squire tries to help.

Timeon is not completely untrained. He finally begins to remember some of the strategies he has learned and instead of wacking on the metal cobras he instead attack to aid his 'allies'.

Timeon aid another: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 +2 to Morthos' next attack next round.

Timeon keeps swinging the cane.

attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Timeon keeps swinging the cane.

attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

cane attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Timeon continues trying to hit the cobra.

cane attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
cane attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Timeon strikes the the cobra perfectly, but even with that, the club and his strength are not enough to do any damage to it at all.

"But... I'm just a squire." Timeon struggles within himself. "Mitra give me strength."

He looks at Demian. "We have to find Sir Balin." Holding the cane in front of him he advances into the room to join Morthos, inadvertently activating another cobra.

"No... It..." Timeon tries to find something to grasp on to in his mind. "You won't win. He is a Knight of the Alerion Order, blessed by Mitra to smite down his evil foes!"

When Sarela makes her offer to him he shrinks back from her and stats to bed for his life. "Please spare me! I meant what I said about my family in the north. If you return me to them, I promise I won't tell anyone about you." Under his breath he is reciting some type of prayer to Mitra for deliverance.

Timeon's Purchases:

  • Buckler(5gp)
  • Halberd(10gp)
  • Blond Mastiff(50gp)
  • Harness(2gp)
  • Barding Deposit(10gp)

Timeon returns after being out most of the day with 3 gold pieces remaining from the platinum you gave him. "I bought the things that you told me to. The kennel master said I could keep him stabled with him while we are here for 5 silver per day and will even help me train him. And the armourer is repairing something he has that will fit. He said 20% was a good enough deposit for him to start working on it."

Timeon's eyes go wide at the amount of gold and responsibility you give him. "I will invest it as you tell me lady Rose. Thank you for this chance to train to be a knight again." He takes the coin and leaves in a hurry.

Character sheet in profile that you can look at.

Timeon tells you about his training and previous hopes of one day being a knight like Sir Balin. Learning to use the longsword and a shortbow as well as riding and loking after the horses.

Timeon knocks on Rose's door bright and early. "Lady Rose, I'm here for my assignments."

Wondering what the Doctor wants to buy from the Apothecary, or further conversation/questions.

Timeon smiles and agrees to the conditions given to him. Now he is out of your hair while you plan the fall of Balentyne, but also in the comforts of home. Your work on him in the last months will surely be tested.

"Oh we're so sorry to hear that." His mum seems very happy that Timeon survived. And shaken. "Please come in. We just sat down. Would you care to join us?" They lead you inside the neat home. It is nicely furnished and well kept but they are not the wealthiest and only employ the 1 maid to clean and help cook. Everyone is very happy to see Timeon and he even seems to smile which he hasn't done in so long. One of his older brothers is visiting with his wife and 2 children too so it becomes a swirl of hugs and hair ruffles before everyone calms down to resume eating and a place is found for Rose. They ask Timeon of the things he learned and how he is finding being a squire. The conversation went back and forth for some time before Rose is addressed. "How long will you be in Balentyne? Perhaps you can let Timeon stay with us while you are here?" Timeon looks at you hopefully.

Timeon looks at Rose, slightly nervous then he takes a big breath and knocks on the door. A few moments later a woman answers the door and looks at you both for a moment before her eyes widen at Timeon in recognition. She rushes away rather rudely, she seemed dressed like a maid.

A minute later a clamour is heard in the house and another woman rushes to the door and grabs Timeon in a bear hug. "My dear Timmy!" She hugs him for a few more seconds before noticing the female knight standing nearby. "Apologies my Lady. We did not expect to see Timeon again for some years until his squireship was completed. Why does he not come with Sir Balin?" Timeon doesn't seem to want to answer and has a sad look.

"Tonight? Now?" Timeon hurries to get ready, which doesn't take long. He knows exactly where to go and shows you the way to the north part of town. "Almost there. That's Captain Mott's house. Everyone says Kaitlyn is the most beautiful woman in town. Sometimes I dream of her." Next door to the Mott's is Timeon's house. He seems nervous as he walks up to the door. "I hope they don't think I'm dead."

"You didn't tell me that you knew him. Perhaps you should tell them the news, I don't know how to explain what happened. I can't believe I'm finally back here. I just want to run over there now and hug mama. She makes the best pies. I bet they're having one for dinner right now. Maybe she will make us a pie when she sees that I'm ok."

"What do you want me to tell them? I'm just your squire now instead of Sir Balin's. They will sad to hear that he died." Timeon gladly takes the coins and heads downstairs.

"You gave the bugbears weapons." He says timidly, "I think you want them to fight Talinguarde. But why? If they come here my family might get hurt." He hesitates at the thought of Mitra abandoning him when Rose mentions it. But it seems he has been thinking about it when he says, "Maybe... if I can protect my family... I can be forgiven."

"I really want to see them again. But I don't want them to be in danger. Please don't hurt them. You haven't come here to hurt them have you?" He seems more scared now. His family are the only people he has that care about him. You also know he would be recognised quickly here so disguising him is wise. With a short time to show him how to use the circlet he is able to conjure any disguise imaginable and for a moment his fear for his family disappears in the wonders of magic. "I never knew something like this existed. I had no idea how you changed your look like you did. Could I grow wings with this? I want to fly." He does however create the exact disguise you tell him to, especially if his family is brought up again.

If you guys are ready, describe your disguises as best you can since these will be your default disguises for up to 4 weeks. Once everyone has posted we'll head into town and to 'The Lord’s Dalliance' inn.

"I guess I didn't think about that. I won't tell them about you. Just that Sir Balin was killed..." he pauses to think, "By an Ogre! But I escaped and came back here. I could tell them you brought me back safe. Then they will reward you. And you could let me go?"

"I never thought I would see this place again. When can I see my family?" Timeon asks. "They will be very happy to see me. They live that way, next to the Mott's house."

"I didn't go to the barracks area and most everyone went silent when Sir Balin walked past them." A look on his face like a light of realisation dawning appears. "About a year ago I saw Captain Eddarly sneak into Captain Mott's house but Captain Mott was on duty and only his wife was home."

"The wall is important to the defense of Talinguarde. It cannot be broken. Whenever a threat is detected, ravens are dispatched and reinforcements from other garrisons are soon on their way. Lord Thomas Havelyn is in command at Balentyne. He has been blessed by Mitra and won many battles. I met him once with Sir Balin when I became a squire. We had to go into the tower of Balentyne for it to be official."

"Help how? I don't want to kill anyone. And I don't have my sword. It was taken from me when I was captured. Who are the bad people?" Timeon doesn't seem very brave, mostly he is feeling sorry for himself.

"It's my home. But I haven't been there for a few years since I was Sir Balin's squire. My Father convinced him to take me on. I never wanted to be a fighter but if I could become a knight it would increase my family's standing. Why are you going to Balentyne? I hope you aren't going to hurt anyone else."

"It seems like we are doing something dangerous and wrong. These monsters could eat us at any moment." Throughout the journey he has not been too talkative, focusing on staying out of everyone's way. "Talinguarde is focused mainly on internal matters rather than conquering these northern lands. I know there are many that desire to do so. Sir Balin often told me that when I am a knight I would get the chance to fight in these lands. I guess he was wrong. Every night on the voyage I prayed to Mitra to forgive me for the things I did in the manor and to destroy the entire ship with me on it as atonement. But Mitra never answered." A tear is forming. "Why has Mitra ignored me all this time? Is it my fault that Sir Balin was killed and this is my punishment? I didn't want any of this to happen. I just want to go home to Balentyne. It's just on the other side of this lake. Please let me go. I promise I won't speak of any of this to anyone!" It looks like he has been resisting all your efforts the entire voyage after his indulgement at the manor. Perhaps giving in to all his desires was his way of coping with the extreme situation of Sir Balin's death.

Intelligence DC 9:

Now he has unwittingly revealed his home and the location of his family to you, which just so happens to be exactly where you are going. Squire Timeon of Balentyne reacts well(in your eyes) to loss. It would be terrible for him if something were to happen to his family and he could be convinced it was his fault.

"Thankyou for taking me hunting with you." Timeon says, "There were so many of them, I don't see why it is illegal in Talinguarde. There are many other animals that are allowed to be hunted. Do I get to keep the one that I killed?"

strength: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 Did you reveal to Timeon what happened to Sir Balin?
Timeon struggles along but manages not to drop anything. He gulps when he realises who else he will be traveling with. Life just keeps getting worse. "I won't do anything. I promise."

"Please don't hurt me. I'm just an NPC."
