Female Human

Sobeky grits her teeth in anger.

"I'm fine. How the hell did nobody trigger that trap over the last few decades?"

Female Human

Sobeky is just cresting the lip of the mine shaft.

"There are no further complications."

She pulls the tied equipment up with the rope and looks around, settling her gaze on Lurodir.

"Is it acceptable for me to ride with you?"

Female Human

Sobeky nods.

"Yes. Of course."

She busies herself unstrapping Ashir's saddlebags and other gear, tying them to the end of the rope. She stands up and motions for Maqej to head up first.

Female Human

Sobeky stands.

"To stop now would be to waste a life in vain. Not only will I continue, we will succeed in this mission. It is the only way to balance the scales."

She looks around and seems to notice for the first time the veins of lapis in the walls. Her eyes widen.

"Ashir has chosen quite the valuable tomb. It seems he sought to emulate the pharaohs of old."

She scoffs bitterly.

Female Human

"No. It will be me. Just get me down there."

Her tone signals that this is the end of the debate.

Female Human

Sobeky looks at her feet.

"Is it done?"

Her voice is downtrodden, just a hint of quaver.

Female Human

Sobeky scoffs.

"I heard that thing fire more than once and he wasn't the only one to damage the damn thing, but I agree that it is impressive. Let's hope it doesn't let us down."

Female Human

"No, we split at the first juncture. He isn't in the south passages. If you're worried, we can seek him out. I'd be concerned about my horse, but the half-elf seems to be good enough with animals."

Female Human

"Yeah, I'll be okay. When you said 'scorpion' I wasn't expecting eight feet of scorpion. As far as the gadget, instinct kicked in. I still have mine."

Female Human

Sobeky drops her quarterstaff and grabs at her side.

"F~*#ing hells...godsdamned scorpion."

She breathes heavily and casts a spell. Golden light surrounds the wound on her side.

Cure: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (8, 1) + 5 = 14

Sobeky breathes a little easier, but her ribs are still sore.

Sobeky damage: 7

Female Human

"I'm not quite certain that cutting our offense by a third is such a good idea, but ensuring the safety of our transportation is something we really should do."

Female Human

Sobeky nods and takes the lead, quarterstaff in hand.

How do you want the rest of your marching order set?

As she reaches the first junction she turns back to you.

"Do you want to head for the known chamber, or do you want to explore the side passages? I'm sure you know more about scorpion behavior than I do."

Female Human

Sobeky yawns.

"Are we making camp for the day, or are you too excited to see what's inside?"

Female Human

Sobeky, bored and looking for anything to entertain her, manages to spot something out on the dunes.

"Guys, there's...something...out there. I can't quite make it out, but it looks big. What do we want to do?"

Female Human

Sobeky smiles.

I suppose you could say that. Sunburns are dreadful."

Female Human

Lurodis does look a bit worried.

The figure reaches up and lifts the guard of its helm. Beneath, you can see Sobeky's smiling face. She chuckles.

"Were you expecting someone else?"

She carefully removes her helm, shaking her hair out, and places it in her saddlebags.

"I'm sorry, but the shock never gets old."

Female Human

Sobeky chuckles.

"Why not? It's not as if I'm doing anything here other than fending off fools with more bravado than sense. When do we leave? I need to collect my gear."

Female Human

You can see that underneath her robes, her body is well-muscled. She's no stranger to physicality.

"Rasatjia? Hasn't that tomb been emptied a hundred times over?"

Female Human

The woman begins to wave you off before realizing that you haven't actually made a pass at her.

"That's quite the snake you have there. My name is Sobeky Nanefer, and I'm not so much looking for work as I am looking for adventure. And who might you be, flamekin?"
