If Skitter has a real name, they certainly don't seem to remember it. And really, the jury's kind of out on 'Skitter' sticking, but it's what the Chernasado Rangers call the strange tiefling, and they seem to answer to it well enough.
They don't talk much, to most people, but especially not of their life before they were found, half-feral and on the verge of starving, by a ranger in the Fangwood. The most anyone's been able to get from them is that they didn't have a home to return to, though whether they were abandoned or ran away, it's never fully clear. What Skitter does let people know for sure is that they were not welcome wherever 'home' might have originally been, and that even as a child, they knew they would have preferred starving in the woods to trying to go back. Luckily for them, though, the ranger that found them took a liking to them, and took them along in their travels, determined to give the child as good a life as possible while living as a ranger.
Skitter was a remarkably fast learner. While they never showed great aptitude for hunting and tracking, they proved to have a strong memory, learning languages and retaining information surprisingly well. They were especially fast at learning to make themselves unseen, quickly learning how to step as to not make a sound, where to place themselves to blend in with the scenery. They began to view it almost like a game, figuring out exactly what buttons to press and what to change in order to get their desired result. Which, usually, meant getting into places they weren't meant to be, and getting their hands on things they weren't meant to have.
Between this, their unusual appearance, and their offputting manner, Skitter didn't exactly gain much popularity with their Ranger guardian's compatriots. This is ultimately where the name 'Skitter' originated from - nicknames meant to be insulting, calling them vermin or some skittering beast, but each barb lost its bite over time, until Skitter really did just feel like a name. They've never forgotten where it came from or their treatment, and keep to themselves, usually preferring to give the impression of something half-feral, maybe less than human, to trying to interact. If the conclusion is made before they even open their mouth, they might as well just let it be.
Even after years, after reaching adulthood with these rangers and seeking to join them, Skitter has been kept rather at the outskirts of the organization, never really being given anything important to do or being granted any significant information. It's only gotten worse since the retirement of their guardian, and they've since been sent just to train with another retired member, and help scout the area around Phaendar. They don't entirely mind, the training is always interesting, and Phaendar may be a small town, but once they learned that Skitter wasn't a threat they've not been treated poorly, and they like that they have the opportunity to help these people if the chance arises. Still, they do feel as if their skills aren't being put to their best use.
Description:
Skitter is taller than they look, usually hunched or crouching to keep themselves smaller, lanky and a little awkward in the proportions, looking altogether just a little too long. Their appearance suggests a Varisian heritage, deep olive-toned skin and large, wide eyes, though the eyes give more the impression of a wild animal than of any human ancestry, with messy, short-cropped black hair. This is about where the human resemblance ends, though. Their skin fades to black along the top half of their face, and along their spine, shoulders, and the ends of their limbs, and continues into a long, furred tail. Their horns are thin and barely curve, sprouting from the front of their hairline and only slightly back and inward.
Not much aside from their eyes, horns, and tail are visible, however, dressed in plain leather armor and clothes that don't leave much of them observable, up to and including a hood and cloth mask they usually keep covering their nose and mouth.

Traits:
Chernasado Hopeful: You’ve pledged your skills and your life to the Chernasardo rangers, studying to protect your homeland from foreign invaders. You currently remain a neophyte in this secretive guerrilla army. You have yet to be entrusted with many of their secrets, and spend a great deal of time training with the old ranger Aubrin in Phaendar to hone your skills of hunting and tracking. In forest or plains terrain, you may reduce a single target’s effective level of concealment against you (from total concealment to concealment to not concealed) by studying your natural surroundings as a move action. This reduced concealment ends immediately once the target moves from its current location. At 10th level, you may study your terrain as a swift action instead.
Shadow Stabber: An instinct for dishonorable conduct serves you well when fighting opponents who are blind, oblivious, or blundering around in the dark. You gain a +2 trait bonus on melee weapon damage rolls made against foes that cannot see you.
Racial Traits:
Fiendish Resistances Resist 5 cold/electricity/fire.
Skilled +2 to Bluff and Stealth
SLA Darkness 1/day
Prehensile Tail Retrieve stowed item on your person as a swift action.
