Skarr settles his eyes on 'Rory.'
Stepping in front of Liam as the reclamator moves to the back, Skarr blatantly puts his hand in his sash, "Pray tell, adept."
"Idleness begets corruption." Following Liam in suit. It is the "I" that sent us into this bilge. I would say we got the "I" a little too much right now.
Turning to face Liam, Skarr will give him a motion towards the small man.

"I am wondering how I fit a mag-boot all the way up into my mouth..."
"The worst part is when they all turn to cannibalism... Or does that not happen dirt-side?" Skarr cracks mild grin
Maintaining a death grip on his gear, Skarr will push forth through the masses.
"Since it appears you have everything handled here, I will make my way to the rendezvous alone to prevent suspicion. If you have any more questions, seek me out. " Skarr will sling his bag more firmly and move out to the point mentioned.
"I was wondering about that the first time I saw all the food he was offering us. BUT in a certain light, one could say that the Emperor is merely giving the Inquisitor a taste of his eternal reward early. If we sacrifice everything in his service but our lives, I would like to think we may get the chance to enjoy having a little more to sacrifice as well." Skarr cracks a cheeky grin. "Right now, I feel like having the chance to serve the Emperor almost directly is our current reward for our faith and our actions. Corruption cannot break your immortal soul. Your body may wither, rot and become inhuman; your mind may shatter, twist, and scream; but so long as you have faith, your soul belongs to the Emperor and not the Empyrean. That much is absolute."
"The blood of martyrs is the seed of the Imperium.' Or so said Eccelesiarch Tertullian. The poor are more likely to give their lives as they usually have little else to give. That is the answer the Ecclesiarchy would like me to tell you. But since you are asking me for the truth, it is the man that gives everything in the name of the Emperor that is more pure of heart and faith. The rich rarely if ever meet that mark and because of that, they are not to be trusted and should be discarded once they are no longer useful. They should burn for their decadence and lack of righteousness. Keep faith in the Emperor and give all that you have, Reclamator. No one can ask for more than that. The rest will make sense in time. Now do you require assistance with your things? I have two available hands as my bag has this shoulder strap."
Skarr will return to his quarters and pack his things. Then he will check on Gaius to be sure his things are packed and handled as well. Lastly, he will check on the Reclamator to be sure he doesn't require assistance.
"Warp travel is subjective, Seth. We could be there yesterday or years from now."

"The ultimate goal of any cult varies wildly by cult, Reclamator. Per instances I have witnessed, two separate death cults trained and bred "pure bloods." One had the intention to replace the entire crew of a ship known as the Mirabelle via gene cleansing; the other served the Emperor saying that it was his divine word that led them to kill their targets. There is no telling what these 'pilgrims' are plotting, but if we are working together against it, it must be dire."
"Even then there is another element overseen: the why. What do they have to gain from this venture short of damnation? If we can figure this out, we can bait them with their goal or cut them off from it at the least. Rather than attempting to stop a larger organization with more resources and a scope we cannot fully understand, it is much simpler to merely deny them what they desire. That is merely my humble opinion. It is cleaner for the soul as well."
"When you study a crime, how do you find the culprit, Gaius? Where do you start looking?"
"Reclamator, we may have those very 'freaks' aboard this ship. Let us try to keep such mentions to a whisper here, lest we tempt our fates early. Death cults are common aboard voidships."
"After our previous clash in interests, I will divide myself from the underhivers until needed. I will approach the Abbey of Divine Judgment to see if they have seen anything out of place in their vigil. The Sisters of the Valorous Heart will most likely welcome me given my position and appearance. I suggest we all do what we do best until a lead is found. Then we should attempt to regroup and root out any taint remaining from the previous purge. Anything more detailed than that should be saved for a more secure location."
"I am amazed you cannot get this to work for you, reclamator. Once you get past the power glyph being a little sticky, it was pretty straight forward on this data-slate. I highly doubt you would be interested in the information I have acquired on the Ecclesiarchy's standing on Vaxanide though. There is a section on native orks, and another mentioning the hive's existence over a large body of water. It may be pertinent to study that sort of tech before we get there."

Skarr will spend the remainder of this time checking up with the voidsmen of the ship, and attending to what he thinks are his priestly duties for those who appear misguided. (Read 'misguided' as 'obviously ignoring him.')
All of this stuff... I see. I can see how this is going to clash with the different layers of background he has. Or at least, from the economic standpoint. It makes sense you would ally with them because in a hive, your gang is your family. The church would come second because it didn't keep you alive for X amount of years. But when you have to start sacrificing them... Yep, good stuff.
For 100 exp, you gained a +3 to every stat and +1 wound. Losing a fate point, as far as the package goes, is not that big of a loss when you get about 1k exp in bonuses. The ONLY drawback to that package is the fact that you develop a rule-set version of an acute delusion based on the righteousness of the inquisition. The chances of that not applying are slim.
Proven Innocent dictates that you believe the Inquisition is infallible. The Inquisition has chosen each of us to work together and that is a cell. You are compromising the mission with the intent of violence. Bond doesn't matter, this is law. I should have quoted the infallible part.
Solon just referred to Solvitus as "SlimJim." That's good stuff.
This is starting to look a lot like Diplomacy.
I enjoy your character already, even if we end up butting heads for some reason. Plus, you are certainly mission essential.
I think once the ball starts rolling, people will either die or things will run smoothly. Either way, things will run smoothly.

"You presume to understand how this conversation took place to begin with. This was a stretch for comraderie that devolved into this after the psyker, Seth, lied to my face. Take that into account before you speak of this matter again. We are still priests and judges in the Emperor's service, just as we were before we came here. You are still a penal legionnaire, and you are still a warp conduit. If you were not, you wouldn't wear that collar. Nothing has changed other than we are acolytes in the Inquisition's service now on top of that, and we are the only ones to know this. Presume to command me again, and I will show you how equal we really all are. As of now, I will show you respect so long as you earn it and reciprocate it. My name is Skarr, yours is Seth, and yours is SlimGrim, and my new-found friend here is Praetus."

Consider this a clash of personal interests, and not a manner of pride this way, when we have the so-called conversation after the mission, it doesn't end with either of us dead. The fact that you stand untouched by my flamer should already be a sign that I had no intention of killing you to start with but rather to understand you. And as of right now, you have only two choices. You can step back and realize that this is an event of your own shoddy craftsmanship, or you can be burned to what will soon be faithful cinders and ash because I am positive Mr. Grim is about to try to use that las weapon in hand on me as soon as I give him the chance. AND if the Inquisitor wishes to be in the company of or demand the services of a rogue psyker, it is well within his means and rights. Noticing the conversation in a foreign dialect between the hive scum, Skarr procs the igniter on his flamer resting on his shoulder. "It would appear you are intending something unsavory. Reveal your intentions, and we can let this go."
"I find your answer wanting. I understand that you are a pariah in the eyes of the Ecclesiarchy. However, rather than burning you for a witch, I will rather offer you my service in return for yours. You have confessed your seemingly most prime sin to me on a mere inquiry. I shall watch you for corruption, vouch for you in the Inquisitor's stead and in return, I would be most pleased if you would teach me of your kind and your ways. What is heresy to one is an infallible tool to another. The dark holds have taught me such. That is, so long as the Emperor holds sway over your soul. The forces of Chaos will hold no dominion in my presence."
"I should say it makes me more curious than anything. The 'Black Ships' must be those who take away the psykers for sanctioning. Aboard the Enamoured Shield, we knew them as the ebon keepers, ships that appeared without warning and within a few days, people would be found missing from the crew. That must leave you to be a rogue psyker and a prescribed threat to the Imperium of Man." Skarr looks deeply into the appearance of Seth. Taking a moment before speaking again. "I should burn you where you stand if this is true. The Imperium does not abide witches and the like. Yet, I must ask this first. Was it the Inquisitor who saved you or the providence of the Holy God-Emperor upon the Golden Throne?"
"I am uninitiated in the terms you are speaking of. It appears dire. Should we wait until we are alone to speak of this?"
Catching Seth before he leaves the area, "May I inquire as to what skills you exhibited in order to be present on this mission? The more information we have on each other, the better suited we are for survival."
"The Emperor protects, Inquisitor." Skarr moves swiftly out the door to ask Marson where the cargo vessel will be located. Upon finding out what the name of the vessel is, he will board as soon as possible and take to his quarters.
"The Sisters are led into combat by priests like myself. I am beginning to understand the value of Solon and I, Inquisitor. The best tactic, Gaius, is faith in the Emperor. Purity of heart and devotion are the greatest weapons we have against the foulest enemies of Man. Have unyielding faith in your comrades, your wargear and your very soul as all are provided to you through the providence of the God-Emperor." I had forgotten that Liam's name has not been revealed. If you will replace all mentions of Liam with "reclamator," we can restore that aspect of the rp. My apologies for posting before work in a rush.
"Liam is correct. From what I can gather from the Inquisitor's briefing on the Pilgrims of Hayte, they will focus their efforts on the bilge rats. If they target the nobility, it will be only for resources to arm the lower hive. If they were seeking something other than numbers and anonymity, they would have struck a different world other than a hive world. It simply makes the most sense. They will repeat their previous methods since they were near success before. I suggest we start from the beginning, investigate previous files and return to the cult's point of origin in the hive. If anything remains, we may find a more stable lead on what their goal is or how they plan to accomplish it."
"The mission is not linear. We are not to find the cult by opening a door. Praetum's service experience and Gaius's thirst for knowledge provide two avenues of approach. Liam is a hiver with proficiency with tech; he is essential to keeping us alive. The legionnaire is here to provide the 'muscle' for IF we have to engage the Pilgrims of Hayte, while it is on Solon and I to keep the faithful strong and on mission while looking of signs of corruption. Our political ties can grant us sanctuary within the hive and confessions can grant us hidden routes to information that can not be found by mere inquiry. That is my summation. That leaves Seth out of my summary. His skills must be more discreet, or he is an expendable addition much like the legionnaire, Solon or me. In order for this group to operate, the key members are Praetus, Gaius, and Liam. All other members' survival is tertiary or trivial. We are merely support."
"As you wish. I now see why you have considered us for this mission." Unsettled by the Inquisitor's lack of trust with the artefact, Skarr will turn to find Marsun for something to eat.
Shifting eagerly at the mention of the artifact, "How do we call for assistance in the underhive? Won't the depths block all vox chatter? More so, how do we handle the artifact if we do discover it?"
Setting his full glass on a nearby table, "And so it begins." Skarr moves past the gentleman and into the next room.
"Judging from this arrangement, we may be waiting for awhile." Skarr will sit down on one of the leather couches after pouring himself one of the smoother looking beverages. Sitting with one leg folded over the other, he looks content to smell and look at the cocktail rather than drink it. |
