I'll try and make this concise; I apologize if this has been asked elsewhere, but I've been looking for awhile and haven't found anything but speculation. Short version: Does a Cleric/Exalted continue to gain domain spell slots and domain spells as per the spells per day table for higher spell levels gained through the Exalted class? Long version: If a Cleric takes levels in the Exalted prestige class, they gain spells per day as if they were gaining a new level as a Cleric. Under the "Domains" section of the Cleric entry on the Pathfinder Reference Document, it states: "Each domain grants a number of domain powers, dependent upon the level of the cleric, as well as a number of bonus spells. A cleric gains one domain spell slot for each level of cleric spell she can cast, from 1st on up. Each day, a cleric can prepare one of the spells from her two domains in that slot. If a domain spell is not on the cleric spell list, a cleric can prepare it only in her domain spell slot. Domain spells cannot be used to cast spells spontaneously." Obviously, domain powers are level-dependent and aren't tied to spells per day, so they don't continue to grow with Exalted levels. However, the fact that domain slots are tied to "each level of cleric spell she can cast" makes their status in this case seem ambiguous. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Will save: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
Much of this has been said, but I wanted to throw my two cents in, too! The medium's base mechanics seem really cool, and I LOVE the flavor, but I agree that the class needs either full BAB+d10 HD or 6-level casting progression to be viable at lower levels. Also, increasing the ability to use the trance feature seems like a good call to me, as so many of the things that make the class unique rely on it. Of course, a static "uses/day" increase won't mean too much unless the amount of influence one can accrue before possession happens increases, too... Maybe it could scale with level, somehow, to express the medium's growing mastery of his/her powers? While I do agree that the spirits' abilities could use some streamlining (I can see how the "counts as multiple ability scores" thing could get confusing, for example), I would be really, really sad to see the number of spirit options (and, by extension, much of the Harrow flavor) get cut down in an effort to clarify the class feature. Overall, this class seems super interesting, and I can't wait to see how it ends up!
(Heh... Sorry about the blank post; I misclicked.)
Either way, yay! I can't wait to make a Sczarni swindler. :3
Sounds like that's the case; I'm not sure where you'd find a deity that allows positive channeling and has undeath in their portfolio, anyhow, so I suppose it's just as well that there's no "heal" effect for undeath variant channeling. My question comes from a similar vein; the "heal" effect for the disease portfolio variant is pretty much awesome (heal a number of points of ability damage from one ability score equal to your channel bonus), but is there a deity who allows for positive channeling and has disease as part of their portfolio? Even with the original writer's RAI (assuming that harm and heal work for both positive and negative energy), how many undead are actually capable of taking the ability damage one removes with this variant? Is it even possible to make use of this version of variant channeling, or will it just sit there and taunt me with its inaccessibility for the rest of my channeling career? :( |
