Serratia is true to her race almost to a stereotype. In fact, she almost has more in common with a house cat than Catfolk if it weren’t for the fact that she can walk and talk…and that she is an assassin for hire. Although, some might call what a house cat does if you pet its belly too long an assassination of your fingers. Serratia isn’t much different, but it’s more of a whole body shredding.
She is flighty, fickle, arrogant, and selfish. Despite all of these traits, she rarely works alone. She is smart enough to realize that utilizing others to distract the target makes her far less apt to have harm come her way. She is, after all, very fragile. She understands that in order to keep others willing to have her join their groups she must keep her personality in check. Make no mistake, though, she may be able to put on a show of pleasant behavior (or at least not completely off-putting), but her inner core is nothing more than pursuit of shiny things and everyone else is just a tool to help her obtain them.
There’s no question what her motivations are, and she is not quiet about it. However, despite her love of gold she isn’t a thief. Thievery, to her, is “less than,” and looks down upon those who would do such petty things like steal. She believes in being paid for her work, and that everyone should work for what they get. She takes pride in her work, and in a sense she sort of leaves a calling card. It’s not intentional, but it’s pretty clear when someone was the subject of her contract. They are basically flensed. She isn’t cruel about killing someone, she doesn’t seek to cause maximal pain and suffering, it’s just that she never found a weapon that is more effective than her own claws to get the job done.
As mentioned before, she is quite fragile physically, and she isn’t particularly strong. She also isn’t particularly smart spending most of her life struggling to learn things like basic math, science, and other such subjects most small children get in school. Despite her lack of intelligence, though, she is very wise about the workings of the world. She can put together causal relationships quite easily, which ultimately led her down the path of becoming an assassin. Sometimes people need to be killed, and she had a knack for doing it. It only made sense. What made her so adept at what she does is that she is very fast. She made the determination that she could work very hard on trying to learn new things or get stronger, but it made more sense to her to work on the natural gift she already had to make it better. This, ultimately, is her second largest drive behind money: to get faster. Obviously, the fast she gets, the better she can do her job. The better she can do her job, the more money she obtains. It’s only common sense.
