Serentholos, or, as his friends call him, Seren, was born shortly before the War of the Lance began (in 338 AC), to a pair of musically talented Qualinesti, Athusana and Kierenotros. At this time, the Qualinesti had no idea how the coming storms would shake their home and their people. Born in the village of Ahlanost, where hill dwarves and elves lived in harmony, Seren was always surrounded by a variety of music and stories as a child, whether listening to his mother sing of Kith-Kanan or hearing the tales of the Neidar. His parents often entrusted him to Soot Steelshaper, their neighbor, where the elf child learned many of the words of the Dwarvish tongue, especially the curses.
When he was eleven, still barely a newborn by Qualinesti standards, the news reached Ahlanost that the Silvanesti had been attacked, and were even now on the run. Seren, having little else to do, continued his childhood. When the Speaker of the Sun issued a retreat from Qualinost, he followed his parents, patiently obedient. When the elves finally arrived at Southern Ergoth, Seren watched, listened, and often simply played. He even managed to befriend one of the Kagonesti!
In 355 AC, the Qualinesti finally made their ways back home, and Seren's parents decided that the far-out reaches of Ahlanost were too dangerous for such simple folk as them, instead deciding to move directly into the capital. For the next thirty years, Seren's existence was peaceful, unspoiled, though the declaration of Porthios and Ahlana's marriage did surprise him, as did the marriage of Laurana and Tanis (a half-human! Scandalous!). The Summer of Chaos and the Second Cataclysm changed everything for him, as it did for all of Krynn. His father, Kierenotros, was recruited by the elven forces against Chaos, and was slain in a battle with a daemon. Athusana was somewhat broken by this, and by the second abandonment of the Qualinesti by the gods in under forty years. Seren, ever a good son, looked after her, keeping his head down during the chaos that followed, as Gilthas took the reigns of the Speaker of the Sun, and was made into the "Puppet King."
The disappearances of the Qualinesti in 405 AC, though, provoked outrage in Seren, as did the kneeling of the Speaker to the Nerakans and Beryll. He began to attempt to spread hope for the subservient people, eventually meeting (and being scolded by) the Lioness (due to his young age, primarily), and he was eventually recruited by the resistance to help shepherd the elves away from Qualinesti, spreading word of the ways in which one could escape. Spreading hope.
Then came the time that Seren had been waiting for, as he helped usher numerous confused and terrified elves into the tunnels beneath Qualinost. Then, Beryl came, and she wanted the lives of the elves... To Seren's great horror, the city of Qualinost, his longtime home was shattered into the Nalis Aren. The horror at the losses that his people, and he himself had suffered took their toll on the young elf, for his mother had been one of those that died in Beryl's attack on Qualinost. He became deeply depressed, and though he still took part in negotiations with the Hylar and other dwarves of Thorbardin to help the elves, his mind grew ever darker. Then, one night, he realized something. If he suffered so, how must the others feel? Looking around him, he noticed the grim visages that were uniformly spread throughout his people. Bring them hope, he realized, and that was something he could do. Since then, he has told stories, sang songs, and reminded the elven people that though their present is bleak, and their future in doubt, they have suffered through such before, and can do it again. He has recently (and secretly) begun tapping into the wild magic that permeates Krynn, and has gained access to a small number of basic spells, though he rarely uses them, as he lacks a solid knowledge of what exactly he is doing. Now he is prepared, and he will help lead his people into a glorious future, even better than the past.
