Background:
Second daughter of Lonjiku and Atsuii Kaijitsu, Seiko was born in 4693 AR, in the small coastal town of Sandpoint, in the south-western reaches of Varisia.
A stern father, a distant mother, and a loving older sister. Seiko doesn't really remember much more from the days of her early childhood, nor she cares to. There was the scowl on her father's face each time she would get distracted during the interminable hours she was forced to sit still and study her lessons, his frown when she would make the smallest mistake, the way he would look down at her, his eyes filled with disapproval, each time she'd ask, yet again, to be allowed to stay outside and play with her friends, just a little bit longer. There was the cold presence of her mother, always a little too distant, always a little too indifferent, never really able to give Seiko the warmth and love she desperately wanted. And then there was the warm and loving presence of her sister Ameiko, always ready to comfort her, make her laugh, and show her new and exciting things. She certainly took from her big sister her love for the legends and mysteries of the world, and her deep desire for adventure and the freedom of the open road, if not her quick witted irreverence and exuberant nature. When her sister Ameiko ran from home to go adventuring on her own, Seiko was still far too young to accompany her, and was left behind, with the solemn promise her big sister would come back to her and bring her along, when the time was right. Seiko was determined to follow in her sister's footsteps, and started counting the days until she could join her on the open road and embrace her freedom, but her father had other plans. Tired of his unruly daughters, he was adamant if he couldn't control his oldest, he would at least impose his will on the youngest while he still could, and arranged for her to be sent away to the nearby city of Galduria, home to the Twilight Academy of Magical Teaching and Experimentation, where the strict magisters of the esteemed institution would be able to instill much need discipline in her unruly daughter, while helping her develop her full potential... Or so he thought. He was only partially correct, as while the lessons of the academy certainly helped the bright and precocious child to fully spread her wings and quickly become and accomplished spellcaster of her own, the relaxed and permissive atmosphere on the magical campus further cemented Seiko's love for the unknown, the open world, and the freedom of an adventurer's life. After her father's death and the end of her studies, Seiko returned to Sandpoint to find her beloved older sister waiting for her, her past adventuring days dead and buried. Despite being more than ready to go adventuring herself, or so she thought, Ameiko was adamant not to let her younger sister venture alone in a world she knew was far more dangerous and cruel her little sister could imagine. Eventually she managed to convince her to at least postpone her desire for a few more years, until she'd be really and truly ready to face the world out there, full of wonders, to be sure, and deadly perils too. These days, Seiko spends her time helping her sister run the town's tavern, refining her magical prowess, and dreaming of the day she'll finally be able to leave Sandpoint and go on a real adventure, just as her sister did years ago, and become a true adventurer. Physical Description:
A lovely young woman of Tian descent, she strikes an exotic figure even in cosmopolitan Varisia. Her figure is short and supple, but her lithe appearance belies a surprising amount of speed and grace. She often wears her hair in an eccentrically long style, well past her waist, although not really as any kind of fashion statement, but simply because she can't be bothered to properly cut and style them, or coaxed to stay still long enough for someone to properly do it for her, for that matter. Her eyes are bright and shine with wit and intelligence, and her voice is melodious and pleasant, if just a touch shrill at times when she gets too excited talking about things she cares about. All in all, she bears a striking resemblance to her older sister Ameiko, although being quite a few inches shorter, a fact she has decided to "remedy" by trying to wear high-heeled boots when around her big sister, or even just trying to stand on her tiptoes as much as possible, a habit that has earned her quite a few raised eyebrows all over town, Ameiko's definitely being first among them. About the Character:
Seiko is meant to be played as a support character, with a focus on summoning, but depending on the needs of the party she can be easily altered to fill many roles, at first level and during the campaign as well, including front line fighter (with her summons). Outside of combat she can help with any kind of Knowledge checks, scouting, and casting all sorts of spells when needed (thanks to her UMD skill). In a pinch, she could be altered slightly and function as the party face as well, if no one else wanted to fill the role. Still, I'd like to stress out that in no way, shape or form was this character meant to steal anybody's thunder! On the contrary, I love nothing more when playing my characters than helping others play their own characters to their full potential, so everyone can have a great time as the adventure rolls on. If you have questions please feel free to send me a PM and I'll try to respond as soon as possible! About the Author:
I have several years of experience with tabletop role playing games in general, and Pathfinder in particular (although I've never played Jade Regent). On the other hand, I'm rather new to the play-by-post scene, and I've never played Pathfinder here on the forums in such a way (You'll notice this account is brand new). I fully understand if you decide against taking on board a "rookie", all I can say for myself is I read your post on the forums closely and I strongly agree with what was written about perseverance, communication and role playing in general, and that's what convinced me this was the right time to give PbP a try. Just so you have at least some idea on my general style, I'll include an example below. Thank you very much for your consideration. Posting Style Example:
Situation: Let's go with the classics, the GM told the players to meet at the local tavern (run by Seiko's sister, in fact!), and wants them to role play their character's entrance. The following post isn't meant as the absolute best and most wonderful post I can make, but as a reasonable expectation of what an average post by me could look like.
The tavern's door swings open and a short, young woman swiftly comes inside. She stops after taking but a few steps in, quite oblivious to how she is clearly blocking the entrance, and promptly starts scanning the room, one hand on her hip and the other leisurely playing with a long lock of dark hair. After a few moments she visibly frowns, sighs, and with a small hop she dexterously stands on the very tip of her toes, her amber eyes still darting every which way around the room, until she finally manages to catch a glimpse of the person she was looking for. "Ameiko! Ameiko! I was looking for you! I... Ah!" she waves enthusiastically, and promptly loses her balance nearly falling face first to the floor, only managing to catch herself at the very last moment. "Uh... Oh! I was looking for you. Can we talk for a moment?" she finishes, quite unperturbed, and happily skips toward her sister. |
