You were recently hired onto a merchant ship, Mother’s Blessing, captained by Willie Longplank, a gnome of some fame. FYI: this Astri and Bri are familiar with this ship and the captain as it was the ship that brought them into Razor Coast less than a month ago.
You’ve been in Razor Coast for a few months often acting as crew and muscle on merchant ships. You were hired on by the quartermaster, Thalios Dondrel, a well meaning a man of with a flamboyant personality. You don’t know him well but he gave you 25 gold advance to join on. He always talks in the third person when referring to himself and he likes to sing a catchy (to you perhaps an annoying song about himself. You’d may even want throttle the bard who wrote it (Astri)). If you mention it she will probably sing it.
The ship was 5 days out of the Port Shaw making run up the northern coast heading towards Sammerlock Sails to trade with the elves, this area is just north of your current location “Beacon Island”. You rode out a wicked storm 3 days ago (the group was hit with this storm) , then you came under attack by massive ship crewed by three frost giant marauders out of the north. They snapped the main sail shortly after the storm hit and the ship was barely controlled but for bravery of the crew and the expertise of the captain.
To make matters worse, after the storm and as the giants were coming in to claim the booty an massive black shark and two minions struck (yesterday). Dragging crew, including, Henk Bash under the water. There is no doubt in your mind this is the dreaded wereshark avatar of the foul deity, Dajobas, who everyone has been talking about and the heroes are now hunting. When last seen the shark was headed south. This black shark is the pinnacle of the first story arc and the party is going shark hunting.

Thalios Dondrel – Quartermaster. The last you saw he was riding the back of large grey and white bull shark. This will only add to his legend!
Capt Longplank is actually hanging on the timbers with you.
A couple other tidbits of knowledge that you have in no specific order:
1. You have both been on ship attacked by the famed dread pirate Falken Drango, and you have served under him. You've alwys found his fair and honorable, never killing a merchant who would give up his hull without battle. "Why kill 'em when you an rob 'em again" was his motto. You don't believe the garbage about him killing his own crew...something fishy is there...something doesn't seem in character.
2. You were a crew man with a Tulita once (Me Leek) (a navtive to the RC) who was severly injured and he was brought to his gran pappy a great shaman who once regrenerated the man's arm. You've seen his powerful magic first hand. Unfortunately the died in a unrelated brawl on the docks on night. But you always remembered that the shaman Milliauka was a powerful healer. Rumor is he can even cure the uncurable afflictions.
3. You Sargenat Roland Lawrence is your drinking buddy and you know he has fallen on hard times since the incident where he was fired form the dragoon guard. Yo've always given him a few extra coins and you've tried to save his sister from the skin trade but you weren't that successful.
4. You have a treasure map you bought from a wizard...Sag ...some like that you were drunk at the time... that leads you to Garr Bloodbane's gold but you haven't found a crew worthy to look for it. You were hoping Capt Longplank and the Mother's Blessing would be it. You are confident this is "the map," not like those fake maps floating arund the docks.
5. Hargrove is basteard that owes you for three days pay. You take -10 diplo when his name is brought up.
6. You have a good friend who fights at the Broken Skull he is a half orc named Belok and he had is title stolen from him. For what is is worth you don't trust the fighter knows as "Amory Fairbanks."
