Born in Kyonin, Samara widely considers herself a treasure hunter, and has since she was just a little elf. Whether those treasures were tucked away in alleys, at the end of some sort of grand adventure, or safely within the pockets of another person, Samara was always glad to claim what was 'hers'. She played in the streets pretty well constantly. Her family, which was really more a crime family than anything, made sure that Samara had all the proper tools and knowledge to do her treasure hunting. She thought (and still thinks) of it as little more than a game, where wealth is the scoreboard.
When things were getting a little bit hairy with her family, and some of the authorities started to suspect them of making money through illicit means, Samara decided to wander off in response to a better offer by the Qadira (at least a better offer than getting caught), who were interested in aquiring someone who shows potential in terms of 'business sense' and has found her way to Absalom and into the Pathfinder Society as a result.
