About Salmoryn Starpeak
Description
Salmoryn is a young half-elf with long flowing brown hair and dark eyes that are either cognac or deep brown depending on his mood. He normally keeps his hair bound and up in a tricorn hat. He wears form-fitting leather armor over dark common clothing with a black scarf at his neck. On his back are a longbow and quiver as well as the gleaming silver curved edges of two handaxes. At his side hang a scimitar on one hip and a longsword on his other, both of elvish make.

Criminal Contact (Background)
-Salmoryn has often had to pay his dues to the organized crime syndicate of Langtree, another situation which has often grated on his nerves. Still, at least they seem to understand his need for independence and beyond their flat percentage seem to have no interest in commanding or curtailing his activities. From time to time, their assistance has been effective in helping him get past mercenary camps or into and out of the city unseen. His primary contact is Ellgran Hedgewaters, a kender rogue whom he regards as a very accommodating accomplice if not a friend.

Trait The first thing I do in a new place is note the locations of everything valuable - or where such things could be hidden.
To say that Salmoryn acts first and thinks later might be an understatement. Salmoryn is driven by two emotional needs, revenge and justice, though his sense of justice may not be what most people think it should be. Sometimes, to add to this assortment, he even acts on his own greed, embracing the dangers that come in an effort to free valuables from undeserving hands. He is quick to draw blade or bow, come hell or high water, and has gotten himself in some conflicting social situations as a result of his impromptu aggressiveness.
Ideal Freedom. Chains are meant to be broken, as are those who would forge them.
Salmoryn does not really regard himself as a thief, though he admits that his goals require that financial assets be liberated from those who have an excess of it. At the same time, though, he is proud of such accomplishments. He values life, however, and will usually try to prevent from causing harm or injury when liberating wealth. He is a gentlemanly robber, if encountered that way, though he can be brash and excitable at times.
Bond Someone I loved died because of a mistake I made. That will never happen again.
It was during one such robbery attempt where Salmoryn met and almost instantly fell in love with a bored Elven highlady. The encounter went by most cordially until the lord who was present attempted to disarm Salmoryn and almost succeeded if Salmoryn had not rapidly drawn his scimitar and sliced the gentleman's neck. The shock and grief and emotional madness he saw in the princess's eyes still haunts him to this day. He is uncertain what it means for his future.
Flaw If there's a plan, I'll forget it. If I don't forget it, I'll ignore it.
Salmoryn's inability to follow orders well is why he never stayed long in a mercenary camp. That and the meager pay was not enough to suit his sometimes extravagant needs. Additionally, having to follow orders from wealthy snots grated his nerves to fire.
Raised in Langtree. His mother is still alive. He has no siblings and was born among peasants.
His mother was seduced by a traveling elf merchant selling mithril weapons to the mercenaries of the city. She was an attractive dancer at one of the local houses of ill repute but has aged quite a bit since his birth. Being a half elf in a predominantly human territory took its toll on his social graces, but he learned to get around, and more importantly how to survive in the streets when the circumstances of his low class and his halfbreed status poorly affected his social status. He spent most of his adolescence on the streets, sometimes working with mercenaries in the middle class or higher status, but never quite got over how his elven father chose to abandon his mother in her time of need. For a while, he expected that circumstances had just pulled him away, but over time he began to suspect that the merchant just did not care for his mother because she was the wrong social class. This set in his mind a poor response to any wealthy gentlemen, and depriving such gentlemen of their wealth and pretty baubles seemed an effective way to get back at the father he never knew. He resorted to pickpocketing mostly, some robbery, to fulfill his itch for adventure and for revenge.
Character Flaws: He rarely listens to others, and when forced to go along with a plan or receive commands, he frequently forgets what they are. He does have an instinctive drive towards wealth and pleasure, depriving it from the undeserving wealthy, and redistributing it when required, including to himself.
