About Sabekh ib Badri

Sabekh grew up as a halfling orphan in Osirian. They took care of him well enough at the orphanage but the other children found him unsettling. So he spent his time playing alone and seeing how high he could climb. When he was ten a bully was beating him, and something snapped in him. They found the bully screaming in terror with claw marks across his chest. By the light of the rising full moon, the other children cried out "Beast!". Sabekh, seeing his canine features reflected in a window by the light of the full moon, fled, and took refuge in the necropolis. He found he could survive by selling trinkets he found to antiquities dealers. When he saw some ancient hieroglyphics depicting jackal headed creatures and a full moon, he wondered if there were others like himself. Venturing into the city, he climbed into an open window of the library and began to search for more information. He had no idea where to look, but fate smiled on him when an elderly librarian found him surrounded by scrolls, and decided to take pity on him rather than report him as an intruder. The librarian, Akentan, gave him a cot to sleep on in exchange for assistance with cleaning and other chores.

Now Sabekh listens for rumors of other skinchangers, especially the Hounds of Good, a legendary group of witchwolves. He has heard of parties getting ready to enter the necropolis and offers his services as a guide. "You wish to enter the city of the dead? Sabekh can show you."

[*Rules for skinwalkers allow them to be small-sized offspring of halflings or gnomes but with no changes in stats other than the size rules, so if I have it right, he has the same Str, Dex, and movement as a medium character, but his damage will be one step lower. If you don't like it, I can make him medium (human) but I like the added sneakiness and I thought it would be fun to try a small character without both the Str penalty and the reduced damage.]
