------------------------------ SPECIAL ABILITIES ------------------------------ Fighter Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A fighter is proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with all armor (heavy, light, and medium) and shields (including tower shields). Bonus Feats: At 1st level, and at every even level thereafter, a fighter gains a bonus feat in addition to those gained from normal advancement (meaning that the fighter gains a feat at every level). These bonus feats must be selected from those listed as combat feats, sometimes also called “fighter bonus feats.” Upon reaching 4th level, and every four levels thereafter (8th, 12th, and so on), a fighter can choose to learn a new bonus feat in place of a bonus feat he has already learned. In effect, the fighter loses the bonus feat in exchange for the new one. The old feat cannot be one that was used as a prerequisite for another feat, prestige class, or other ability. A fighter can only change one feat at any given level and must choose whether or not to swap the feat at the time he gains a new bonus feat for the level. FCB (Fighter)
Focused Study (Alternate Racial Trait): All humans are skillful, but some, rather than being generalists, tend to specialize in a handful of skills. At 1st, 8th, and 16th level, such humans gain Skill Focus in a skill of their choice as a bonus feat. This racial trait replaces the bonus feat trait. Gear/Possessions:

Rosella Breban was born at the Bronzewood Lodge. Her parents, both druids, were among the small group of people who called the Lodge home. (As opposed to the many others who travelled there for rituals and communion but did not stay.) There weren’t many children at the Lodge either, and the small community doted on the chance to teach a new generation the ways of the Old Faith. Rosella was not a fast learner, but she tried, and learned to venerate nature in all its wild beauty.
Two years later her younger brother, Sorin, was born. Sorin was a fast learner. At the young age of five he found a fire pelt cub, wounded and alone, and took it as a companion. At six he cast his first spell and was formally recognized by Nogwier as a druid-in-training. As Codrin and Viorica focused more and more on encouraging Sorin’s natural talents, Rosella was left largely to her own devices. She spent most of that time learning archery from the various rangers who called the Lodge home. Which was fine, she liked archery, but it still hurt every time she came home to find her family talking in a secret language she didn’t know and could never learn. It didn’t help that Sorin enjoyed rubbing his successes in her face. He’d smirk at her while chatting in the druidic language with their parents. He’d cast Create Water and dump it all on top of her head, or use Entangle to trap her. Myst, his fire pelt cub, would hiss at and scratch her whenever she got too close. Codrin and Viorica were largely unsympathetic, viewing it as nothing more than normal sibling rivalry. (Of course, if Rosella ever retaliated, she was punished. She was older. She should know better.) This state of affairs continued until Rosella was twelve and scouts brought in a badly injured woman. Skala had been attempting to make her way to Magnimar for a job before she’d been ambushed by bandits on the road. Although she’d managed to fight them off, her injuries were too severe for her to keep traveling. The Lodge was a good place to rest and recuperate. Rosella was immediately fascinated by this new arrival. Skala was strong. Skala was friendly. Skala was beautiful. Skala was a lot of things the preteen girl didn’t really know how to put into words. Most importantly, Skala was the first person to ever acknowledge that how Sorin treated her wasn’t okay. Rosella spent hours with Skala, listening to her stories and being listened to in turn. If the Ulfen woman ever found it annoying to have a twelve year old following her around like a puppy, she didn’t show it. Sorin rarely bothered them. Perhaps he knew just how little patience Skala had for his antics. Unfortunately it couldn’t last. Skala still needed to get to Magnimar, and found most of the residents of the Lodge to be, in her words, ‘pretentious a#*##@!s.’ She couldn’t stay. The day she left Skala ruffled Rosella’s hair and told her, ”Rose, you ever want to get out of here, you can come look me up in Magnimar. Okay?” Rosella had never thought of leaving the Lodge before. It was her home, the only one she’d ever known. She’d heard horror stories of the corruption of the cities, how distanced from nature they were. The thought of just leaving was equal parts terrifying and intriguing. It was a thought she clung to over the next several years. Whenever she was hurt by Sorin’s cruelty or her parents’ indifference, she’d tell herself it was okay. She had an out. If things ever got too bad, she could go find Skala in Magnimar. (She never thought too hard on what she’d do after that. It wasn’t part of the fantasy.) Things finally got too bad when she was eighteen. Sorin graduated from dumping water on her head to summoning swarms of spiders on top of her when she was practicing archery. He still told their parents she got in the way while he was practicing, and they still believed him. Even when some of the other rangers confirmed that the incident had happened at the archery range, and Rosella had been there first. She’d had enough. One of Rosella’s few friends at the Lodge, Ava, also was ready to leave. She was a few years older, and had spent more time thinking about the practicalities as opposed to simply fantasizing about going. It was Ava who suggested they look for work at Diamond Lake. They would need money if they were going to set themselves up in a big city like Magnimar, (although Ava was far less certain that was where she actually wanted to go), and the mines were always hiring. It mostly worked out like Ava had thought it would, minus the ‘earning money’ part. The mines were always hiring, yes, but they didn’t pay well. Plus Rosella found the idea of stripping ore from the earth to be vaguely sacrilegious. In the end they both found jobs as bodyguards of sorts. Ava, (a half-elf), managed to talk her way into working for Ellival Moonmeadow. Rosella started working for Gelch Tilgast. Mostly they stood around with hands on their bows looking intimidating, but occasionally they needed to fight goons working for one of the other managers. (Rosella found it oddly satisfying to be able to punch her problems in the face. Or shoot them. It depended on how big of a problem they were.) They’d been working in Diamond Lake for a little over a year when messengers came from the Bronzewood Lodge. Nogwier was convinced there was something strange going on in the hills. He wanted every ranger to go out looking for signs that he was right, and apparently that included former rangers. Rosella may have left that life behind, but she still had a great deal of respect for Nogwier. If he said there were zombies in the hills, she believed him. (Also, she rather liked the idea of venturing out into the wilderness again.) She quit her job and went looking for signs that this ‘Age of Worms’ was real. Unfortunately hunting ancient rumors doesn’t pay the bills, and Rosella needs gold if she wants to continue. Maybe one of those old cairns has something valuable inside... Hooks:
Sorin is an obvious one. He could come back into the story in many ways. Given he’s Rosella’s brother/childhood bully, he’d be a good foil for her. Or he could turn over a new leaf and genuinely want to make amends, in which case he’d make a good ally. As I’ve written him he’s at least a level 3 Druid, but that can be altered as necessary.
Skala is the other obvious hook, given that Rosella is trying to make her way to Magnimar to find her. What’s she up to these days? Did she ever make it to Magnimar? Does she have any connection to the shapeshifting doppelgangers mentioned in the Big City Exile trait? Does she even remember that kid she spent a few weeks with eight years ago? Also a side note for Skala, since I wrote Rosella as having a crush on her and her suggestion that Rosella ‘come look her up’ could be taken the wrong way. She knew about Rosella’s crush and was rather amused by it, but there wasn’t any sort of grooming going on. From her perspective Rosella was more like a little sister/mentee. In terms of age I see her as being about seven years older than Rosella, (so 27 at campaign start). Class is ambiguous, but something martial. Posting Schedule:
I’m on EST, so three hours offset from your time zone. Weekdays I tend to check the boards once in the mornings and again around 4-5pm, (after I get off work). Weekends vary, but I’ve been able to get in at least one post a day. Content Warnings:
I’m personally fine with everything you listed as a potential trigger, including the Player Deception one. PG-13 levels of sexual content don’t bother me either, so long as we keep the ‘fade to black’ rule. I’d prefer any sort of sexual violence or graphic violence against children be kept off-screen. Botting Instructions:
Rosella will almost always use her move action to get in line of sight of an enemy (if necessary) and her standard to attack. In order of priority:
-If she is in melee with an enemy, she will bludgeon it with her bow. [dice=Composite Longbow]1d20 + 4[/dice] [dice=B. Damage]1d8 + 3[/dice] (Critical x2) -If there is a party member in melee with an enemy, she will shoot it. [dice=Composite Longbow]1d20 + 6[/dice] [dice=P. Damage]1d8[/dice] (Critical 19-20/x2) -If there are multiple party members in melee with enemies, she will prioritize them in the following order. Alaïs->Kata->Briar->Edrukk->Broccan (If the chosen party member is in melee with multiple enemies, she will prioritize whichever enemy seems weakest/lowest health.) -If no party members are in melee with enemies, she will shoot whichever enemy is closest to her. If her doing something else makes more sense, feel free to change things up as necessary. She's a fighter; she doesn't have that many resources to manage :P |
