Where can we find the Nova chronicle boons?

So I agree that by rules a mechanic can use master control to control a drone that is out of his sight and hearing up to 2500 feet away. However if said mechanic does not have the camera mod, how much control can he exercise. 3 doors open up in front of the drone--how does the mechanic know that? Does he get the benefit of a camera even if he did not get that mod? Does he get to see the whole board the drone sees--even if he is not there? Could he direct a melee armed combat drone to go stand between the enemy and an open door (to block its retreat) and than attack? How would he have known it to go stand in front of a door that he could not see without a camera?

If a wizard starts summoning on initiative 10(full round action) and I double move up to him around a corner initiative 9, so could not charge; Do I get an attack of opportunity as he finishes casting the next round? Or did I have to be next to him when he started casting?

So if you take the summoner as a secondary class with the new unchained book, it tells you you lose half of your evolutions. Is that half of the free evolutions? half of all evolutions-to include your automatically assigned ones? If it is half of your automatic ones--how do you determine which ones?

Does Death's kiss affect a construct? The death ability it replaces requires the creature to be living. But Death's kiss just says "creature" so can it affect a construct?

So Jaunt boots are made with jesters Jaunt--which is a teleport spell. They allow you to move 15 feet when taking a five foot step. Do you move using teleport? or fast? or just using stretched legs?

Ie if there is a table or barred gate in the way--can you 15 foot step to the other side? How about 15 foot stepping THROUGH an enemy to get flank? If you can't go through a gate--I would say not an enemy either--both are solid. But if you teleport--you would. and the boots are made with a teleport spell--not a springing and striding spell.

Under the description of named bullet it lists (will save negates, harmless object) and spell resistance yes (harmless object)

I read this to be like the spell magic weapon--ie that those are applied when you are casting on the weapon or piece of ammunition--NOT that the target gets a will save. I know the specific description later states that you must overcome the targets SR when you hit, but it does not get a will save does it?

Otherwise everytime you hit something with a weapon with magic weapon on it (such as a constructed magic weapon) the target would get a will save to not have your weapon be magic.

Tower shield specialist easily get 40 ac and have a 28+ touch ac to boot. then add on the ability of feats to add ac to party members and it makes parties impossible to even damage in scenarios.

take a tower shield specialist level 8 (human)

12 str
24 dex (10 pt build=16 +2 human, +2 4th and 8th levels)+4 from belt
14 con
10 int
14 wis
8 cha exact spending not important--but 24 dex easily achievable

+4 mithril plate armor
+4 tower shield
+2 ring of protection
wayfinder with clear spindle ioun stone---or use mind buffering armor

feats

shield focus
shield proficiency
greater shield focus
shield specialization
combat reflexes
weapon finesse
agile maneuvers

he gets to take -3 ac penalty and +2 dex from mithril. and -4 to ac penalty and +3 dex from armor training. so overall he can have take 7 off the ac penalty

so he can benefit from +6 dex even with full plate and tower shield.

+13 armor
+10 shield (+4+4+1+1)
+6 dex
+2 ring
10

gives him a 41 ac at 8th level. and 28 for touch ac. They are untouchable. then with the shawl they can give a party member the + 10 ac for 9 minutes and give ac bonuses to everyone around them.

Not sure exactly what feat the one person was using but could actually give +10 ac to someone adjacent

sorry at level 8--41 ac with 28 touch ac--is just broken. What tiny fraction of a percent of monsters at those levels of scenarios can hit that?

a tower shield specialist should never get to apply shield to touch. heck trying to hit a tower shield specialist with shocking grasp should be EASIER. the + 3 is way offset by the + 10 from shield and getting to add full dex.

all they should get is the minus to ac penalty and cover from burst on relex checks

all that metal should make them almost a +10 to hit with shocking grasp

How does the cleric spell nap stack work with divine spells? In the description it says you get back spells as if you had slept for eight hours. But if a cleric needs to pray the same time every day, do they get the spells if they cast nap stack 8 hours after that time?

Silver Crusade 5/5 5/55/5 *

Since the new weapon cord will have significant impact on the way some classes are played, will people be allowed a one time rebuild?

Silver Crusade

Does greater shield ally replace or add to shield ally for a summoner.

Silver Crusade

Due to RAW in APs and scenarios, even though a character is immune to fatigue they still have to make the fort saves. Because often the description of the second save is if you fail, you are exhausted. It does not say if you are fatigued and fail you are exhausted.

So if a summoner has a staff of fire and can cast wall of fire as a 3rd level spell, can they recharge the staff once they can cast 3rd level spells? Or do they have to wait until they could cast 4th level spells, which is when a wiz/sorc would get wall of fire?

basically do you have to have the 4th level spells if you can cast the highest level spell on the staff at 3rd level?

Silver Crusade

What does it take to use a staff? Do you have to have all the spells on your spell list or just one? For example a magus with burning hands trying to use a staff of fire? can he use the staff to cast all three spells, burning hands, fireball and wall of fire and then recharge it with burning hands?

Silver Crusade

Another question which has come up is do stone giant's keep their natural armor when you animate them as skeletons? Was their natural armor part of their skin or part of their bones?

Silver Crusade

If a creature has trueseeing and you blind it, does the trueseeing still function? Do you need to see something to see through its illusion or whatever.

This came up because we were fighting an eriynes with trueseeing. We blinded it but the GM ruled that it's trueseeing let it see us anyway. Wouldn't you need to see anyhow. Low light and darkvision quit functioning if you get blinded.

I see a lot of Eidelon builds that have the eidelon taking the improved damage evolutions and also choosing the improved natural damage feat (which is a monster feat). It is my understanding that Eidelons can take character feats but not monster feats. Am I wrong?

so looking at the fetchling, it lists the shadow summoner as an archtype--with the only basic changes being that it uses the shadow template instead of good or evil and that it changes some of the summoned mobs.

1. can you still make a master summoner fetchling?

2. If you do, do his summoned monsters have the shadow template? or good/evil?

3. do you basically just combine this archtype with master summoner--ie as above in 2 and can still have the extra two evolutions?

if a half elf took the adopted trait--could he use it to get the elfs failiarity with longswords, longbows and short bows?

Could a summoner use linguistics to learn animal languages to speak with his summons?

maybe not speak with animals as a whole--but perhaps canine or feline?

I am looking at a half-elf summoner. Taking the alternate racial trait of arcane training would do what for me? Not sure if I see how the trigger items or item completions figure in. I just know I will not be multi-classing so the two preferred classes do nothing for me.

Also how do things like gifted adept or spell specialization work on a spell like monster summoning? I take it monster summon 2 is a totally different spell than monster summoning 1, but would increased level get you a chance of more mobs of the level 1? or are extra Cls wasted on a conjuration spell?

for spell combat and spell strike it says you have to use a spell from the magus list. but since shocking grasp is on the magus list, what would happen if you had a 3rd level magus/1st level wizard/1st level sorc? would you have to take the broad study for both wizard and sorc? or just one? or neither since shocking grasp is already on the magus list? and do you get the shocking grasp spell for each of those? ie full allowance of 3 from magus, 3 from mage (with bonus and evoc specialize) and 2 from sorc--for a total of 8 shocking grasps a day?

and do all the cantrips run together or do you get the 3 from magus, 3 from wiz and 3 from sorc (or whatever number each give) to give you a choice of roughly 9 cantrips a day to choose from?

I have two questions regarding using wands.

1. If you have a high enough UMD to succeed even if you roll a 1 and roll a natural 1, do you succeed? Or are you locked out for 24 hours. The rules say if you roll a 1 AND fail.

2. What would the DC be for a 9th level Magus trying to use a wand to cast a level 4 spell that will be on it's list, (however it can only currently cast level 3 spells)? Is it a 20? the same as a level 1 rogue who would never get that spell? I don't see a DC for trying to emulate a level.

Keep in mind, one of the points of a contest like this is to see how well people do under pressure. The number of folks who can meet deadlines when everything is calm and normal is much larger than the number who can deliver things of high quality, on time, while their spouses are sick, their cars get flat tires, and their day-jobs demand overtime. The ability to overcome these challenges is a big part of being a successful (and beloved) freelancer, and it's one of the things we're looking for in an RPG Superstar finalist. A map in three days, done on lunch breaks and evenings and sleepless nights while washing dishes with one hand and dialing a plumber with your toes, is par for the course for professional game designers.

Too true. And to add to this:

In the publishing world there are often extremely tight deadlines centered around specific events, milestones, and other factors (conventions, holiday shopping seasons, prime release schedules factored out by the marketing departments). Niches need to be filled, copy needs to be written, and the content needs to be in so that all of the other departments can move forward. Doing freelance literary editing has taught me that there is very little leeway in your time table. You get it done and get more work, or you don't...and you don't. Part-timers and the occasional contractor are held to the same standards. In fact those just starting are held to higher, more rigorous standards than the pros. Everyone and their brother wants a freelance contract. Those that distinguish themselves by cracking down and getting it done are the ones that get work.

It reminds me of the general advice given to starting literary copy editors: promise the impossible...and deliver it. Can you turn around a 300 pg. manuscript by the end of the week? Yes you can. You edit that thing while you're brushing your teeth, at a stop light, at lunch, whenever you have a spare moment. And in the end it looks good on you and you're more likely to get the next project.

If I make it to the next round, I'm sure going to wish that I had more than three days, but I'll forgo sleep if I need to. Part of the that test is making sure the winner will deliver the final module on time. It may be relatively little for them to put RPGSS on (though I imagine there are some costs involved with web setup, monitoring, man hours ect), in the end they're investing in the winner to produce a product.

First RPG Superstar entry and I made it past the cull! Nice.
