Silver Crusade 4/5

I just realized I really want Eldritch Archer but need to reshuffle my abilities. Can I do that with that ACP purchase?

Also, I cannot find a full description of that ACP item anywhere!

Silver Crusade

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I love my PF1 Investigator (Empiricist). He seems sooooo much easier to deal with as far as rule complexity than what I'm stumbling into with a PF2 Investigator (Alchemical Sciences) that I'd like to start now. Plus, I plan on giving him the Alchemist dedication to allow him access to Alchemical Bombs abilities.

I see that he has access to 2 sets of formula books. It appears that one is for doing normal crafting and the other I can do quick crafting like during encounters. Do I have to have the Quick Tincture formulas overlap in the formula books? I would guess no. Do I basically start off with 6 formulas that I could craft in Downtime?

On the subject of crafting in Downtime...is it even worthwhile? It seems if I just want to have a bunch of Lesser Alchemist Fires, it's less of a headache and maybe marginally more expensive to just buy them. At what point (level/items) is it worth taking a serious look into using the Downtime Crafting skill? What would you craft?

I've chosen Minor Elixir of Life and Quicksilver Mutagen for my Alchemical Sciences Formulas (intended for Quick Tincture). For my Alchemical Crafting formulas: Lesser Alchemist Fire, Dread Ampoule, Ghost Charge, and Cognitive Mutagen.

When I "whip up" my 4 vials/day, what's the cost?

Also, is it worthwhile to do what I'm thinking of doing and doing the Alchemist Dedication for bombs?

Sorry...I feel quite dumb as I'm trying to figure out an alchemical class which I've never done before but seems like fun. And, thanks in advance for your responses and advice.

Silver Crusade 4/5

For instance, I wanted to be sure the Hireling Manager is sanctioned and okay to use with Hireling boons.

Silver Crusade

I've taken Intimidating Glare and now that I see I will be able to take the Intimidating Prowess feat, I have to wonder why would I NOT want to train out of the Intimidating Glare feat for something else? It looks like Intimidating Prowess basically overrides the need for the the Glare feat...right? In what circumstances if I'm in battle that I would NOT be able to use physical intimidation? Unless physical intimidation is only meant for when you're in physical contact with an opponent.

Silver Crusade

The rules state that if you have Versatile Font, you slot Harm OR Heal slots. Does this mean I have to slot how many of each ahead of time for the day's preparation?

Silver Crusade

I'm not sure what "similar form" means. Can I shift my Greatsword into a Great Club, so I can change the type of weapon damage from slashing to bludgeoning? I'm curious as to what benefits this power has otherwise.

Silver Crusade

One of my newest character builds is a Universalist Wizard with the Familiar Attunement thesis. He will have a tiny owl as his familiar. Is it within the realm of expectation that I can use that familiar to scout ahead and report back to me as to what it sees?

Silver Crusade

Is it okay to assume that when a cleric needs a free hand to cast a spell they can safely and quickly remove one hand from their weapon while still holding the weapon? I get that they'd need to take an action to regrip the weapon if they wish to use it.

Silver Crusade

I put this question out on Discord and the consensus was that since it only has ranged stats the Slingstaff is only meant for ranged. And, if you tried to use it as a melee weapon, it's just an untrained, improvised weapon.

If I'm reading correctly, in PF1, it was both, hence the bit of text that states: "A halfling sling staff can be used as a simple weapon that deals bludgeoning damage equal to that of a club of its size."

Is there a reason why it cannot be used as a simple staff weapon? If so, if the character is trained to use the slingstaff, is he also trained to use it as a simple staff? What damage would it do?

Silver Crusade

I'm assuming it does/can, but I'm not seeing anything specific in the rules as to how this would normally work in play. Armor is always taking a beating right? I can't imagine having to repair it after every single little battle because it took a hit.

Silver Crusade

I'm still trying to get a basic understanding of a number of rules. One thing I see is that Lay On Hands can be heightened +1. I'm not really sure what that means since a Paladin doesn't appear to have spell slots. Based on the rule of his powers are at a level of 1\2 his level rounded down, it starts off as a level 0 spell I guess. But how do you heighten it?

Silver Crusade 4/5

Encounter:
How many gems are there in this encounter for the haunt? I'm assuming that if I go strictly by what I see in the description there are EIGHT! That seems like a lot and can be extremely dangerous. Am I miscounting? I'm assuming one in every single room, including the center (everything with a B#).

Silver Crusade 4/5

[Please note this will use 6th level pre-generated characters and is a Special from the end of the 7th season.]

Even the limitless Plane of Air is at risk of eldritch instability, and a cult dedicated to the planes’ integrity has sensed an imminent calamity brewing deep within a primal storm. In this special adventure, the players portray a diverse coalition of elemental guardians that must embark on perilous journey into the maelstrom’s heart and avert a disaster that threatens the Inner Sphere.

Hero Lab states that I the Schooled Inquisitor trait I have for my Investigator is not a valid trait for PFS characters. Since when? Also, is this trait only available from Ultimate Campaign or is it in other sources (and which ones)?

Silver Crusade

I have a half-elf wizard setup in Hero Lab (for the Ironfang campaign) and on level up and I can choose the core options of +1 HP/Skill point, but I also have the option of 1/2 extra use of special power or +1 spell for spellbook. For the life of me, I don't know which source(s) those extra options come from.

Silver Crusade 4/5

I need 6 players and LOTS of alternates...players drop all the time.

This is a 5½ hour time slot!

As I'm sure most, if not all are aware, there is a higher than normal level of danger for this special scenario.

An enemy of the Pathfinder Society recently found a hidden dungeon in a centuries-old siege fortress, but despite his best efforts to convert it into his base of operations, he failed. When a pair of Pathfinders encounter disaster while scouting out the entrance, the party must explore the first level of the dungeon to determine not just what attacked their comrades but also what dark power their nemesis nearly acquired.

Silver Crusade 4/5

This is all a SPOILER!

I'm prepping to run this soon (assuming I can actually get a table of 6 players together that haven't already played!). I'm a little perplexed on how the diseases work when dealing with the end of the scenario.

Say for instance a player is down 4 strength (damage); do they have to reconcile that before leaving the table or can it just be assumed they sleep it off over the next week (especially since the scenario states that the disease fades away but any effect still exists)?

What type of things have to be rectified at the end with the players and what can be left alone?

My questions might also be a bit more generic since conditions affect players in all sorts of scenarios and I've often let them have ability damage that they can just sleep off.

Tall tales of hidden riches are common in the pirate-infested taverns of the Shackles, but when Captain Varossa Lanteri claims to know the location of the secret treasure hoard of legendary Captain Jemma Redclaw, it seems she may be telling the truth. Captain Lanteri hires the PCs on as crew to help her assemble the magic key that will open the door to Redclaw’s treasure... and the ancient cyclops stronghold in which it’s hidden! Can the PCs survive long enough to claim their share of the lost loot, or will their enemies—or their allies—send them to a watery grave?

Since the old AD&D Tomb of Horrors has quite a following, I was wondering if an official Pathfinder version of it (or equivalent) has ever come out?

PLEASE NOTE: This module is slotted for 9 hours. It might take a bit less or it could take a little more (but hopefully not much more).

Everyone in the fishing town of Ilsurian is excited when the legendary Umbra Carnival rolls into town—even if the show is run by members of the much-maligned Varisian ethnic group. With strange and exotic beasts, scandalous performances, games of chance, and all the other fun of a traveling fair, who could resist such an opportunity for entertainment?

Unfortunately for both the town and the circus, however, entertainment isn’t the only opportunity the carnival presents. Hidden within Ilsurian, a guild of thieves and scoundrels has been waiting for just such an occasion to launch a campaign of theft and murder—leaving the strangers from the circus to take the blame. With tensions mounting between locals and performers, and the body count rising on both sides, it’s up to the PCs to uncover what’s really going on and clear the circus’s name before the entire town erupts in a firestorm of ethnic violence.

If you take the Quiggong archetype,it states that you can replace a monk ability at 7th level and the next one at 11th level. What's the purpose exactly for dividing up the Ki powers to every even level, like 8th level Ki Powers if the monk cannot possibly take one of the until 11th level when he'd have access to 8th and 10th level powers?

For the Pharaoh's treasure, he has that cursed Periapt of Foul Rotting. Assuming the PC's don't accurately detect that it's a cursed item (DC=35), then I was going to ask which PC would carry the item. That PC within a day would know they've been cursed. This would be handled at the end of the adventure. This seems really mean and really expensive for a low level PC (a total of 4 PP or 960 GP). Is this the way I should handle it?

SUGGESTION: Try to bring in a character at upper end of tier as this can be one of the more challenging of the Free RPG Day Paizo scenarios.

The deserts of Osirion—land of pharaohs and ancient tombs—hide not just untold wonders, but also unspeakable dangers. When the vast sand dunes part to reveal the ancient pyramid of the legendary Pharaoh of Sphinxes, glory seekers from across many nations race toward it, each fighting to be the first to claim its wonders. But the storied pharaoh doesn't rest quietly within this monument, and his tomb was designed to slaughter any who would dare trespass.

A band of bold adventurers are the first to arrive, and stand poised to claim what’s risen from the sands—but they're unaware of the doom that lurks inside. With daring on their side and strange, rarely seen powers at their disposal, the heroes may be the only force capable of containing the force of evil within and defeating its curse!

Silver Crusade 4/5

This is a CORE campaign game.

The esteemed Blakros family—famous for their museum in Absalom—receives a large shipment of artifacts from Numeria but fears that the ever-vigilant Technic League will attack to reclaim its "stolen" property. When they request the help of Pathfinders to help guard the collection, the PCs discover that the Technic League is the least of their worries.

Silver Crusade 4/5

This is a CORE campaign game.

A decade ago, the Decklands family, a house of Chelish nobles, were exiled from Absalom for treason. Their fate made for an interesting story and when a Pathfinder agent in Cheliax studying the family's long history and exile from the City at the Center of the World ends up murdered, the Society sends you to the recently discovered Deckland Vaults in Absalom to see what connection their old home might have to your murdered colleague.

At 5th level the Wizard can start doing some enhancements (like +1). However, if the character switches over to Eldritch Knight progression after reaching Fighter-1/Wizard-5, does the extra arcane casting levels gained from the Eldritch Knight allow the character to do higher level enhancements?

For example, at 2nd level of Eldritch Knight they gain +1 arcane casting level. Does that mean that it stacks with the 5 levels the Wizard originally had and now the Eldritch Knight (Wizard) can enhance his bonded item to +2?

I recently created a thread if there are any items that give Breath of Life. I was probably too specific with that thread.

However, I know there's at least one item that does an auto-CMW when the wearer of the Aegis of Recovery falls below 0HP.

Any other items (other than the Talismans in Occult which will do a BoL)?

The ones I know of are very expensive like Armor of Determination. I thought there was some sort of amulet that would function that way, but cannot recall. And, of course, First Aid Gloves will only work if you're alive.

Silver Crusade 4/5

This is a CORE campaign game.

Rumors of an ancient settlement and its priceless treasure locked beneath Irrisen’s perpetual ice have reached the Society’s ears. The Pathfinders set out to the Land of the Linnorm Kings with a precious cargo of trade goods to buy their way into the witch-ruled nation, but even approaching Irrisen is fraught with danger. Can the PCs navigate the frozen wastes and recover the relics within, or will the icy climate claim their lives?

Content in “From Under Ice” contributes directly to the Year of the Sky Key metaplot as well as the ongoing storyline of the Grand Lodge and Scarab Sages factions.

Silver Crusade

I recall there's a resource that lists a wand capable of shooting 2 Magic Missiles (i.e. as a 3rd level Wizard) and possibly has another power. I can't recall what the name of this Wand is nor the resource.

Silver Crusade 4/5

I'm going to let you guys decide if this slot is run as CORE or NORMAL campaign mode. Please sign up for either (or both!) games for the time slot. I will run the game that appears to be the most popular. Perhaps if enough different players want both tables, we can find a second GM.

More than a millennium has passed since the "machine mage" Karamoss's failed siege of Absalom, and for years the Pathfinder Society has used upper reaches of his subterranean siege tower as a training ground for initiates. During a routine drill, the once-dormant dungeon springs to life, and it will take all the PCs' resourcefulness and skill to make it out alive.

Silver Crusade

What exactly is allowed by the spell storing in this armor? I'm guessing it's like the weapon property, any spell of up to 3rd level? If that's the case, then the armor already is of +2 enhancement? It seems cheap for 6950 GP. And, I take it that it cannot be enhanced any more since it's a named item?
