Isfan's flurry of attacks finishes off the prone Centaur!

Out of Combat

With Thorn defeated the wind begins to settle down.

It's still windy and rainy but you can move normally now. There are no further dangers, I'll get some conclusion and wrap up later tonight. If you have not already posted your downtime in discussion now would be a good time to do so.

Speaking of errors, I realized a problem with my correction for Anri, 35ft halved through difficult terrain still only gets you 1 square, so to get where you are takes 2 strides, since the extra attack missed anyway nothing changes. Yay.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Slides

Anri casts shield as she pushes against the wind. Isfan also escapes the entangle and makes good pace.

Cariad slowly moves towards Thorn, making as good a speed as one might hope.

Zanderel sends his mephit underground and uses his own wind powers, largely to no effect.

Pawero (11/18 Poisoned?)

Anri (21/29)
Isfan (15/21)
Cariad
Thorn

Pawero is up!

As a reminder we had several hours after the previous encounter and for ease of play assumed we managed to get everybody back to full before this encounter.

Assurance still doesn't get you that far. Failing the entangle drops your speed to 25. Success only lets you move half speed so 2 moves at half speed is 25, which only gets you 2 squares through difficult terrain. Moved you 2 squares diagonally assuming assurance used for both strides.

Of course, then we put you back in the entangle anyways. Thorn's a jerk.

All the squares are difficult, with longstrider giving you a 35 ft speed your ending square is correct and out of the entangle at least.

Hey folks, while I suspect it was intended in a friendly manner...

In my opinion as gm challenging other PCs to fistacuffs is not an appropriate way to resolve a difference of opinion on how to proceed in Pathfinder Society.

OP Guide wrote:

The motto of the Pathfinder Society is “Explore, report, cooperate.” In keeping with the “cooperate” theme, do not engage in

character-versus-character conflict.

Not only does the action itself make me uncomfortable it serves to stifle future discussion as Anri has now threatened violence over those who disagree with them.

---
If we had been at a physical table and I was on top of things I would have stopped the action when the challenge was initially presented and brought up the PFS rules, discussed the potential issues and taken a quick break before continuing.

I'd like to play as though that's what we have done, as I don't believe such a challenge fits within the framework of the Pathfinder Society.

That said it sounds like the preferred plan of the majority is to press forward. Baring any serious objections I'll move that forward this evening. (Assuming things don't go horribly off track we are rapidly approaching the end of the scenario)

If you have further issues regarding this please feel free to PM or email me. vcRob@pfsprep.com

I now have a Download button for my playtest boon.

It downloads a seemingly corrupted file that pdf readers will still read that is missing almost all the text except character number and boon title.

So that's progress I think

There seem to be several reasonable and plausible answers to how this works, I keep trying to logic my way to one of them but none of them quite work for various reasons.

Definitely needs OP team sorting out at some point.

We're online at the moment so you don't even need to drive anywhere. If you're interested in GMing PFS2 1-10 this Sunday at 4 let me know and I'll walk you through our standard procedures, we're generally extremely chill.

Especially since there's no current need to maximize players at a table for efficient physical space usage at my frequently sold out venue...

For the venue I run I've moved warhorn's table limit to 5 for June and the rest of May. Going forward this will allow us some flexibility in an emergency. Also I suspect on average the 5 player table experience is superior to the 6 player table experience, especially with the way PFS2 handles scaling.

In some cases this likely means we'll need another GM but I've got faith in our local community that we can handle it.

And if not I'll shanghai Nefreet and make him GM all the slots. I've got that power right? right?

If needing extra space for flexibility is important cap your signups at 5 and allow 6 in an emergency.

Sorry for the late start here. The good news is I did 4 billable hours of tax work last night.

Each of the PCs has arrived in Minkai within the past few months. Since then you have been working with Venture-Captain Amara Li to help lay the groundwork for a lodge in Minkai, performing a variety of tasks that are well-suited to your individual skills.

Amara Li has been collecting relics from across the world to house in a new museum with a focus on relics from Minkaian history that have been kept in
other nations. To this end, she has been traveling all over the nation to
pursue leads. These relics have come from a combination of purchases and donations, and she has occasionally called on both you and local Pathfinders to guard the relics.

You are currently working in Sakakabe, a prosperous city famous for its trade in silver and pearls.

Venture-Captain Li has summoned you to meet with her in one of the gardens of the Kiniro Kyomai teahouse where the quality of the Kiniro Kyomai’s tea, food, and samisen music make it a popular destination for locals and travelers alike.

There Amara Li treats you to a wonderful meal.

Feel free to introduce yourselves and enjoy a fancy meal, you've likely at least met each other if not worked together on several projects in the last few months

Klatzu: I totally learned last week more about reactions at the beginning of combat:

CRB p 472 wrote:
Your reactions let you respond immediately to what’s happening around you. The GM determines whether you can use reactions before your first turn begins, depending on the situation in which the encounter happens.

Reactions at start of combat

So it's GMs discretion rather than clearly no.

Also can't cast magic weapon on a +1 weapon. Target is 1 non-magical weapon :(

Also: I do think it's non-compelling. The +25%/50% AcP bonus doesn't hold a lot of value for me. I'm sure my experience is fairly far outside the average curve though. (Over 250 AcP earned so far).

The +50% is definitely not enough incentive to convince me to say GM at GenCon.

Is AcP really the only reward that's being provided at your conventions for GMing though?

No comped/discounted admission? No priority signups for other slots? No heartfelt thanks? No increased social prestige?

Which part are you describing as "minor," because not being able to get GMs to volunteer is a pretty major problem as far as I'm concerned.

Minor: Missing out on a few AcP because a slot doesn't happen.

Is the lack of ACP for GMs who's slots don't fire a barrier to GM recruitment for you? I don't see it, but understand that PFS runs very differently in different places so suspect there's something I'm missing.

Alright... Since 6 weeks ago when this was posted. The update that set pf2 boon points equal to scenarios gmed/played, ignored quests. Disabled spending playtest points, messed up pf1/sfs table count and star/nova displays.

Chug Chug!

Dr. Ripfang is a field commissioned agent and has the alchemical crafting feat. After spending 4 days of preparation I am going to spend 6gp to begin crafting a set of 4 antidotes(lesser).

craft DC 15: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Success, that gives me 8 days of progress at 2sp each, reducing the remaining expense by 1.6gp. Additionally I have the Junk Tinker Goblin feat which grants me an extra day of progress, leaving me at 7.8/12

Nefreet isn't talking about the starting values, but occasionally I've had online GMs insist in filling out the totals after spending and such as well.

Which is both the incorrect way to do things and detrimental to proper record keeping. In such cases it seemed to stem from an incorrect understanding of the instructions to fully fill out chronicle sheets.
