Appearance & Background
--------------------
Born in 4645, right at the tail-end of the Second Crusade, Piousa was born to a woman she never knew and father she barely knew at all. Her father, one Zindalo of the Stars, was a kind if distant man. She never knew her much of her mother saved that her father loved her and she gave Piousa to him before leaving to go somewhere.

She didn't know Zindalo well, either. He went missing on a mission heading towards the town of Gundrun in 4653 when she was only 8 years old. His friends, Marilis and Jal, took her in, raising her up in the faith of Desna as a homage to their lost friend who was, himself, a devout follower of the Starsong.

Piousa found Desna's faith comforting and natural, and over the years her skill with divine magics. Indeed, she often felt at ease with little more than the sight of Desna's holy symbol, and often had dreams of butterflies in a serene landscape as stars glittered and numbered the sky. Always she felt as if her goddess was there, comforting her, guiding her, in these dreams. Finally, at the age of 20, her adoptive parents allowed her to go study with the Desnan priestess, Charito Albercroft. In these formative years, Mendev was beginning to corrode and throughout her studies in the ways of Desna's priesthood, she saw the nation slowly wearing thin and ran ragged. Certainly demon attacks were infrequent, but infighting can often prove just as fatal.

She knows she's an Aasimar, standing distinct from the other races though just as mortal. Marilis and Jal never told her how she could have a touch of celestial blood, though they assume it is from her mothers side (having never met her mother but knew her father like kin and knowing that he did not have any celestial ancestors they could think of). Charito and most others simply accept her for what she is, though she would like to know exactly what that is herself.

Standing in at 5'5" and 140 lbs., Pious looks much like a beautiful human save for two distinguishing marks: Her ears taper up and back from her head like an elf's, though not as large; And her shadow bears wings of that of a butterfly. Charito and others claim that her shadow's distinct look must surely mean she's blessed by Desna herself, and in those rough formative years of her early life, seeing folk come, live, serve and die in Mendev, she took it as a comfort.

She is a kind and gentle soul, though steeled like all other crusaders. She has lost numerous friends and acquaintances over the years, and occasionally finds herself morose. But in those instances, she feels she sees signs of the Song of the Spheres, from a stary blue butterfly to entrancing swirls of leaves and smoke.

Piousa feels that she is there in the world, Kenabres in specific, to help those in need. Her healing is fantastic, and she has on several occasions saved a crusader's life with them. And all the while, she keeps her eyes open. Though lost all these years, she has never given up hope that her father might yet return, that one childish obsession she has never given up. In honor of her father, and perhaps to help him recognize her after his long absence, she decorates her clothing and armor in violet stars, and like her father she has taken the title 'of the Stars' as well by the people of Kenabres.

And like all Desnan's she likes a good festival. With Armasse now upon the city, what better time to try and liven the moods of the good folk of Kenabres. After all, a crusade without celebration is no crusade at all!

Unique and Rare Items
--------------------
Scale of Terendelev - Cloudwalking: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast levitate. A pillar of roiling clouds rises below the levitating object or creature, growing and shrinking with the target's altitude. This pillar is 5 feet in diameter (regardless of the target's size) and provides concealment (20% miss chance) to any creature or object wholly contained within.)

Mythic Ideas
--------------------
Pious of the Stars will be first and foremost a healer. Drawn to caring for those less fortunate, she will go out of her way to tend to the dying, sick and needy. That said, she will occasionally take an ability to make herself more formidable as well.
