Phaedra casts Grease under the little fellow with the axe.
"Watch out, there is some little guy with an axe up there that took a swing at me."
Phaedra looks about for a place to secure a rope and then will descend back down to the group. No way I'm going in there on my own. I wonder what is in those vats?
Curious about the door up high. Phaedra takes a shot at climbing up to it to open it. "Let me check out the other door before we go to far in that one."
Phaedra tries swinging her morningstar at the doglike golem again.
Phaedra moves up and tries to what the golem doggie with her morningstar.
"A flesh golem hound? Well, we can guess what these people have been up to with any stolen parts. I would imagine any authority would have such a creature as this destroyed, so we should be within our rights to do so, especially as it is about to attack us." Phaedra casts Grease directly in front of the kennel where the creature must exit from.
"We knock one last time to give them fair warning. If no one answers, we head on in and search the place for evidence. I would prefer one of us to "unlock" the door ourselves versus just knocking the door down. I agree that we do not want to cause any unnecessary damage since they haven't been proven of committing any crime, yet."
"Well, we do have cause to think that they were involved in graverobbing, so I guess we could go and report it to the barrister and see about getting a warrant. Though there is no way to guarantee that they would let us be the ones to serve it since we have no official status. We also don't have very strong evidence since they could always say that the tool set was lost or stolen." "Maybe we should poke around a bit and try to find any more evidence of misdoing and we can check out who comes or goes from here?"
Phaedra scours her store of local knowledge for any information on Vorkstag and Grine’s Chymic Works as the party heads towards it. When they arrive there, she will politely ring the bell and when someone answer she asks to speak to Master Vorkstag on a rather important matter regarding some property he has previously lost.
Busy weekend, but I should get Phaedra finished up with her leveling today.
Persistent cough is not good. Have you seen a doc about it yet?

"We should go ahead and make haste back to the town and get to the trial. What we've found here does seem to point that someone or something other than the golem was responsible for the deaths here."
After the vicious wounds from from the manticore, Phaedra takes a step backwards and casts another healing spell upon herself.

Phaedra decides that she really doesn't want to be up here and alone in the manticore's nest when it land, so she climbs back down the rope that she had brought up and secured and rejoins the group and draws her bow.
No worries. Family should always come first, we'll still be here when everything is back to normal.
Phaedra takes a turn trying to identify the potion. "Huh, weird. This isn't even a potion, it's an alchemist's extract. Not really something that I would consider a Beast being capable of crafting." Phaedra ponders the large nest for a moment and tries to think of any animals that might have created it.
"Well, I suppose we should still check out that nest. Just not to leave any stones unturned and all that." Phaedra will take some rope and try her hand at climbing up to the nest for a quick peek.
Phaedra looks up at the nest in the trees. "Well, it doesn't look like there is much to search on this little island except for whatever may be up there." She looks around for a rope or ladder for getting up there.
"Maybe someone made more than one Beast?"
"We apologize for disturbing you and thank you for your time in talking to us. Now, the sooner we can find out what happened here, the sooner we can depart. Your help would make this go a lot quicker for us all.
Phaedra casts detect and just studies the Beast for a minute. "A quick run by the hut on the way to Morast Isle should be ok if we can make it in time. We do need to be back with any evidence before the trial begins though."
Phaedra remains quiet for now. She doesn't want to confuse the Beast with too many questions and waits to see if he answers what has already been asked. She will also cast Detect Thoughts and focus on the Beast.
"Apologies for disturbing you, but we were referred to you by Judge Daramid. Like any judge, she wants to ensure a fair trial, but noted a lack of evidence on the matter of the Beast. Given our interest in this case and the accused, we thought that we might be able to assist in gathering evidence on your behalf and attempting to speak with the Beast."
In my defense, I've been busy with a out of state move and no internet for a bit. Now I have to finish cleaning up the house before my husband's parents arrive for our first visitors before I'm even ready for any.
"The guard said "no visitor's by order of the poor guy who has to defend him", which means the defender can choose to ban or allow visitors. So let us simply go and visit the defender first. We need to talk to him anyway and then we can ask him to grant us permission to talk to the golem. The Judge said that the barrister assigned to him was Gustav Kaple, so let us go find him."
I'll be having limited internet access until Friday afternoon. Moving houses and will have to set up new internet.
"The whole story does not make sense, there must surely be more to it. And I can't imagine destroying such a unique creature without the chance to learn more about it. I am more than willing to assist in this investigation." "I suggest we start out by introducing ourselves to the defending barrister and finding out what he knows of the Beast and this whole situation."
Phaedra tries to recall what she knows about flesh golems. "If this golem can actually speak, has anyone tried to question it? Does it appear to have any measure of intellect or reasoning capabilities?"
"What kind of creature is the Beast, sir?"
"If she wants to share, she will. If not, there isn't much to be done about that. What we can do, is to head on over to the University for our last task here."
"Our main task had been to see to Kendra's well being. Now we are finishing up the remaining tasks and delivering this item to you ma'am." Phaedra waves in the general direction of the manual.
"Hmm, how about we deliver the manual to Judge Daramid first?"
Phaedra aims her shortbow at the spider creature and lets an arrow fly at it.
But it goes wide.
"Well, I guess we can figure out what happened to the girl from the caravan..." "And that bite was definitely poisonous. I'm not feeling so great right now." Phaedra casts cure light wounds upon herself.
Phaedra draws her morningstar as she follows Maria's lead in clumping together.
Phaedra lets out a shriek at the giant spider monster and attempts to cast Hideous Laughter upon it.
