![]() Thanks for the info on the +2str/dex info. My main objective with this Roc, is to have a flying combat mount. If there are lots of enemies I will land, use whirlwhind attack to target 12 squares, all the adjacent square to the Roc's 10x10 base. If possible use the roc to grab someone and drop them from high up do do fall damage. ![]()
![]() Universal monster rules on the Pathfinder srd Grab If a creature with this special attack hits with the indicated attack (usually a claw or bite attack), it deals normal damage and attempts to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. The creature has the option to conduct the grapple normally, or simply to use the part of its body it used in the grab to hold the opponent. If it chooses to do the latter, it takes a –20 penalty on its CMB check to make and maintain the grapple, but does not gain the grappled condition itself. A successful hold does not deal any extra damage unless the creature also has the constrict special attack. If the creature does not constrict, each successful grapple check it makes during successive rounds automatically deals the damage indicated for the attack that established the hold. Otherwise, it deals constriction damage as well (the amount is given in the creature’s descriptive text). Creatures with grab receive a +4 bonus on combat maneuver checks made to start and maintain a grapple. Unless otherwise noted, grab works only against opponents no larger than the same size category as the creature. If the creature can use grab on sizes other than the default, this is noted in the creature’s Special Attacks line. ![]()
![]() I am not sure if I can legally select that feat, I will have to look around for some rules, from the srd it has a list of animal feats that I can select. As far as the grab, the Roc can do 2 claw attacks if either hit, they can start a grapple, without an AOO. So the roc could also take a hold action with one claw, to not gain the grappled condtion, but with a -20 CMB to maintain a grapple. What happens when I have a grapple with one claw than a hold, can each claw increase my manuever, or decrease the penalty to a hold, attempt. Traditionally a Roc in D&D was feared because it would grab you fly up and drop you. Sunny with a chance of meatball's. ![]()
![]() 6th sentence "I have just leveled, and have the ability to get Boon Companion feat." It is from the Seeker of Secrets book, Which in fact would give me 7th level ac. Boon Companion The abilities of your animal companion or familiar are calculated as though your class were four levels higher, to a maximum bonus equal to your character level. If you have more than one animal companion or familiar, choose one to receive this benefit. If you lose or dismiss an animal companion or familiar, you may apply this feat to the replacement creature. So my god is Erastil, Animal is my domain, Feather is my subdomain replacing some domain powers of the Animal domain. Thanks for any input. ![]()
![]() I like the cleric and I think in fact he isn't generic. Oracles are perhaps more generic than clerics. I have actually seen 2 Oracles built the same way even to the point of one character in their name being different. That said clerics have 2 domains with a choice of 20 and counting as well as 60 so subdomains, with different sets of gods coming out. It would be hard to think of the possibilities of running into 2 of the same built clerics. So I guess the one problem is how different you can actually make a cleric, that is their strength and perhaps their viewed weakness. ![]()
![]() So, I am new to the world of creating an animal companion. I am a 6lv Inquisitor/1st level fighter. I have whirlwind attack, spring attack. I am armored in Mithiril Full Plate and a large darkwood shield. I was thinking of switching domains/deity via spell,Erastil Animal/Feather sub domain. I have just leveled and have the chance to pick up the Boon Companion feat. I was thinking of choosing the Roc for an AC. Mainly for the ability to have flying mount. I expect to only ride this mount for about 1/6 of "game" time. Roc Starting Statistics: Size Medium; AC +5 natural armor; Speed 20 ft.fly 80 ft.; Attack 2 talons (1d4), bite (1d6) Str 12, Dex 19, Con 9, Int 2, Wis 13, Cha 11; Special Qualities low-light vision. Roc 7th-Level Advancement: Size Large; AC +3 natural armor; Attack 2 talons (1d6 plus grab), bite (1d8); Str +8, Dex –2, Con +4. I expect to have a base ride skill of 4 ranks 3 trained 3 attribute. for total 10.
I getting an exotic military saddle and a ring of feather falling. Question time,
Thanks for any help. |
