Thanks, Starson! I've got other game plans currently, but I'll definitely keep an eye out for your games in the future.

Thanks, folks! Sorry I ended up disappearing for a little while right in the middle of things, but it was a pleasure to play with you all!

Thank you. Your support will be invaluable to the Worldwound's cause. Persephone gives Senator Bryton a small bow, then smiles at Q'lack. And it was a pleasure working with you as well. May our paths cross again.

First job of many. Now, it's time to get paid.

My friend is right. You'd handle these far better than we would, Persephone adds with a small smile. After all, you know your affairs and your cousin's...I'm sure your experience far outweighs ours in knowing who would best handle such a complicated situation.

Diplomacy to aid Q'Lack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

The Exchange

Persephone joins Q'lack in the search after reloading her gun, looking for any record of her possible dealings with Tercio Andares. Her hand lingers long over a promissory note from the Bank of Abadar, and she fights the urge to swiftly pocket it...but eventually she turns away. Don't get the Society in trouble...don't get the Society in trouble...

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

It would've been the simpler option to let Koriana take her... But Persephone had chosen to let others take the lead in negotiations - if this was their choice, so be it. She wasn't going to force her comrades to burden their consciences with a choice they believed wrong, even if she'd have chosen differently. And, truth be told, there was a bit of relief in knowing she hadn't forced Thalia into whatever existence Koriana had in mind...it might have been cruel or kind, but whatever it would have been, it would have been a prison for the liberty-minded young girl.

A new problem had arisen now, though, and it was time to solve it. The best way Persephone knew how.

For when my turn in initiative comes up, since I tend to post a little less frequently than everyone else:

Pistol attack, damage against the target she has the clearest line to: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 4 = 161d8 ⇒ 1

I'm okay, Persephone murmurs, as much to reassure herself as to inform the rest of the group. Everyone else all right? Her hands move almost of their own accord to reload her gun; while she does return it to its holster, she makes sure it sits only loosely. Myth's probably right - we should be prepared.

The Exchange

Whoa! Hopping back from the gnashing teeth, Persephone quickly tips black powder down the muzzle of her pistol from a horn at her side, then drops a cloth-wrapped bullet in the powder's wake and hastily jams it into place. Once again a shot rings between the buildings.

Pistol attack, damage against the dog what's tryin' t' eat me: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 5 - 4 = 101d8 ⇒ 2

Thinking quickly, Persephone pulls her loaded gun from its holster at her waist (move action for surprise round). She hadn't expected a fight, especially before they'd even gotten inside the alchemist's shop, but life had taught her to always be ready. Taking several light steps forward, she aims for one of the rabid hounds (move and standard action for first round), pulling a little to the right to avoid turning Bessie prematurely into steak. But at the thought of steak her stomach rumbles; there'd been no time for lunch in the hurry of rescue, and now her gut reminds her forcefully of that, distracting her enough that her bullet crashes uselessly into the nearby wall.

Pistol attack, damage against northeast dog: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 5 - 4 = 31d8 ⇒ 4

Persephone lets out a barely audible sigh of relief as the talk of politics wraps up. I'm glad we've found and released Thalia, but boy, this is not what I had in mind when I joined the Society...I never had the head for all this intrigue. It's good the others are more suited. And good there's someone else to take word of this to Lady Morilla... Her face heats up as she recalls the result of her only meeting so far with the Sovereign Court's leader. I hope her servants finally got those wine stains out...

Sorry, beyond-crazy week for me! But I should hopefully be back into it now.

Excuse me, but the African swallow is non-migratory...

When in doubt, in combat Persephone will move to get into her first range increment (or as close to it as possible) and fire her pistol at the most clumsy-looking or heavily-burdened opponent. She travels with her pistol loaded the old-fashioned way with bullet and powder. If she has a move action free, she will reload that way in combat as well, saving her paper cartridges for when she needs to move and take a shot.

To let you guys know, work is going madder than I even thought humanly possible. Suffice it to say, I'm doing four separate four-to-nine hour chunks of time there in the next forty-eight hours, and oddly enough, that means that PbP posts are falling by the wayside for the next couple of days. I'll be back this weekend. If you need to boot me and get someone else in, I completely understand.

I hadn't placed myself before (busy day), so I moved myself to where I would have been before my action, then moved and took the shot for this round.

Heading toward the south end of the building, Persephone lets loose a sharp curse as assailants appear at every west-facing entrance. Moving between Nigel and Aiden, she takes aim at the attacker in the south window, deliberately keeping her barrel a bit to the left to avoid Aiden. But the adjustment turns out to be an overcompensation - her bullet crashes squarely into the window's frame, showering the opponent with tiny splinters but doing no actual harm.

Move action to get in line with the window, standard action to take a shot with a penalty of -4 for shooting into melee.

Pistol shot against touch v. southmost enemy - attack, damage: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 5 - 4 = 61d8 ⇒ 8

The Exchange

Agreed. I'll keep the south side in my sights. Quietly, Persephone creeps toward the building's southern end, trying to keep under whatever cover she can find while watching for any signs of movement.

Stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 As Myth said, if we need it, it's here.

Hard to be certain, but it certainly could be the place the scrying saw. I'm not particularly gifted with quiet approaches, but I'm quick on my feet - I'll come along and back you up if you like, Aiden, or cover your backs from a distance.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Sorry, crazy handful of days for me at work. I've barely had time to breathe and sleep, let alone get in gameplay posts.

I can do that, Persephone replies to Aiden's suggestion before turning to Deborah. Don't worry, ma'am - I wouldn't dream of invading Thalia's privacy, or disturbing any of her things. Well...maybe I'd dream of disturbing her things...but that's not going to help the Society gain the Consul's investment. We'll be quick and quiet. It's a good thing you're doing - there's no telling how much information this could give us, and anything we can know going in is that much more chance that Thalia comes home.

The Exchange

Female Human Mysterious stranger gunslinger 1

I'm not much for politics myself, Nigel, Persephone adds. Maybe I'd be better off looking for anything else we can discover. Physical clues - footprints, something the kidnappers may have dropped, anything. And we do have the advantage of knowing it's an older-style building she's been taken to - there can only be so many of them around. It might be smart to wander town a bit, see if if we can find any buildings like Telfyr said he saw in his scrying.

Excuse me? she calls to Dorabeth. Do we know what room Thalia was in before she was taken? Has it been disturbed since then, or is it still as it was when she disappeared?

Holy wall of text, Batman!

Can't say I'm the authority on Andoran's local politics, but I'm just like my guns - point me in the right direction and pull the trigger, and I'll make sure your problem is taken care of. Persephone smiles slightly. Nigel is right; we've got an heiress to find, and there's no sense in letting time waste. We'll be far more likely to find this decades-old fire-damaged building if we're nearby to stare straight at it.

No questions from me. Good to go!

A bit of charm, a bit of smarts, a bit of luck, and a bit of magic - of a different kind, Persephone replies to Nigel's question with a half-smile. Withdrawing a small metallic weapon from the holster at her waist, she sets it carefully on the table, deliberately positioning it so the handle is away from her. It's called a gun - well, this one is a pistol, more specifically. It uses a small explosion to shoot bullets faster than any sling can, fast enough even to go straight through armor if you get close enough. My father and I make them. Her voice catches almost imperceptibly on the word "father".

The conversation is disrupted by the room's door opening with a crash; a young Garundi woman stumbles in, hastily tucking a stray wisp of curly hair into a crimson bandana struggling mightily to keep the rest of the mass of curls in check. Sorry - sorry, the messenger carrying my summons got delayed. I had to book passage on a Chelish mail ship last-minute, and I had to finish all their blasted record-keeping for my passage before they'd let me disembark... I hope I didn't miss too much? I'm Persephone, by the way - Persephone Alleria. Slightly out-of-breath, she sits down in one of the seats and sets an old battered rucksack down with a thump. Its strap catches on a full-to-bursting bandolier around her chest, and she nudges it back in place as she settles in, readjusting a small holster at her hip so it clears the side of her chair. Do we know yet where we're going, what's going on? The missive didn't say much.
