About Zurk Gutripper

You're the demon that walks in the sun, terrifying all who gaze upon you. You are a scion of destruction and despair, and when they look at you, they know their time is come. You do not skulk in the shadows like some cowardly beast, you profess your power and destroy all who would oppose you.

We be goblins—we be best! Much, much better than the rest!

Treasures
Whole dead stoat “ruff: Taken from his first kill, the smell reminds him of that first thrill. The first rush. The first day he discovered the goddess.
Helm made of poorly welded horseshoes: Killing horsies is great fun. Dead, dead horsies make big yums. And apparently their shoes make for a good protector of the noggin'.
A jar of 20 year old pickled, peppered gnomeling toes: Doruk won't tell anyone where or how he found so many toes, who they belonged to, or where exactly he keeps the rest seemingly endless supply.
Unholy Symbol: Dried frog head, inner bits dried for snacks, the jawbone used as a clasp, half the tongue splayed out and reeking of pickle and spice. Only small patches of the white skin remain untouched. The rest seems to have either been picked off, peeled off, or covered with some inexplicable rot.
Dead Fred's Scale Bed (Scale Mail): Stolen off a drunkard off for a wander, Zurk tries to keep the metal on him as often as possible. Slippery little gobgobs can't gnaw through big metal scales like they can big, meaty fingers. The drunkard is probably wandering somewhere, scared for his life and probably missing a few necessary male parts. What Zurk did with the parts are a matter of great curiosity among the others of the tribe.
Giant Cleaver (Greataxe): Made from the weathered wood and a series of weapon blades bound together. Unlike most of the items created by goblin hands, it is strong, sturdy, and most importantly..able to cleave a man in half. Of course, that's only in the mighty hands of Zurk.
Pain Slinger (Longbow): Made from a sickly tree, ready for death, the clerics of Venkelvore felt it was appropriate for one of their newest champions to have something for when the foe was too far away or had a nasty boat to keep from his reach.

Personality:

Zurk enjoys the little things, taking sadistic pleasure in all of his activities, from small to large. Whether it's roasting a fish only to smother it in the hottest chile paste he can find to crushing small bugs under his boots while the bright ball of light is high in the sky. He sees the Goblin Heroes as the pinnacle of achievement, having stolen their power back from a god and creating their own race. He believes that the patron of his life, though, is Venkelvore, and he venerates her even above Lamashtu.

Background:

Zurk biggest, strongest honorary gobgob! But that isn't where this tale begins. It begins many moons ago, when Zurk's creation was not a decision of convenience or love, but one to strengthen the tribe.

Zurk's father was a feral killing machine, chieftain of his own tribe & scourge of Varisian longshanks everywhere. It was only an ill-fated detour that led Chippers, the Licktoads' grand trader, through the territory of the Great & Terrible Draug, a koblak of intedeterminate age and the most nightmarish being of pure hate. It was a simple business (and survival) decision to offer a trade, in exchange for a life long enough to enjoy his riches from trading, Chipper was convinced to setup a meeting between the chieftain of Toadlicks and the bugbear. At the end of the meeting, there was an agreement made. There would be a trade route through the bugbear territory, and in exchange, to secure this, there would be an exchange of offspring, each one important by being the offspring of each tribe's chieftain bred with one of the allying tribe's females. Nothing has been heard of the gobgobs of Gutwad's loins, but who would want to go and ask such a monster? But Zurk on the other hand...well, Zurk...

Zurk's mother died young, complications from birthing such a behemoth, and as child, Zurk was sentenced to the tender care of the village's shamans and holy men & women. This was done, not as a courtesy to the bugbear chieftain or to protect the treaty. It was, instead, as a means to keep an eye on the offspring of a monster. Specifically, he came under the tender mercies of the priests of the great Goblin Hero-Gods. And one night, he grew to what amounted to adulthood. It was that night that his world changed, as the priestess of Venklevore & her assistants read the weekly entrails.

As the followers of Venkelvore read the entrails of a still living (and screaming) captive longshanks, his future was revealed, not just one of convenience but one where the monstrous creature was tied to the Hungry Lady. Shrouded in death, he would bring glory to the consort of Hadregash, and to all of the Goblin Hero-Gods. He would be the implement of the Hungry Lady's ire and displeasure. When this would happen, or how, it was unknown. But the priestess set about grooming him.

And so life has been. Surviving, attempting to thrive in harsh conditions, and waiting for the time of his patron's first call to arms.
