First time entry...and mistakes were made. But this is how we learn, right? (I still can't believe I survived up until the final moment with a typo in it. My shame for that is endless.)

Description
This unassuming pair of dog-eared tomes appear to be perfect mirrors of one another, including a foreboding dark stain on the fifteenth page.
Any text penned within the pages of one of these books immediately appears on the corresponding page of the other, regardless of distance. Spells specifically targeting the written word, books, or parchment such as erase, illusory script, or secret page have their effects bilocated; the same spell existing on both pages of the pair. Such effects end immediately if they are no longer present in both books of one.
Due to their dual nature, holding one of the pair functions as a “possession or garment” physical connection for the purposes of scrying attempts to discern the owner of the other.

Thanks! When I linked to the Blog I didn't think to refresh it to see if there'd been new comments. Clarity achieved, disappointment fading, going back to life & working on a (potential) map. :D

There is, and the short version is we were trying to fix the problem, and we're just not going to be able to in anything like a timely manner. The announcement has been pushed to tomorrow, with our sincere apologies.

I'll ask the obvious question the chat crew was worried about: Does this mean the Deadline for Round 2 will be pushed back 24 hours as well?

Well...people did say all 223 remaining contestants should already be working hard on their map.
I'm going to take a deep breath & assume this is a mistake. And just work on my map. Because another day of working on it with uncertainty is still better than 48 hours of last minute certainty.

It's always weird to see an item that looks good in a book but if a player got it as treasure it would be a confusing pain the booty to have to scrawl on the back of my character sheet. Item, you know who you are.

Also: Praise the Cull! I now know what you guys were talking about when you said everything shark/fish/squid/aquatic was a trope this year. For the 1st week I had a couple of them. On the flipside, all the RIP THE FLESH DRINK THE BLOOD items haven't shown up in my voting for a while now. Weird luck or Culling?

Since Flipmats don't have keys on them (or at least the ones I looked at that're on my shelf/in the online store), does this means you can't have a visual as your key? (Similar to previous RPGSS map entries)

...Or can my "Note" explaining symbols/terrain be an additional image file? (Or on the border of the main map image)

I started to dive into this today & I keep feeling I'm missing some detail that's going to bite me in the butt. I hate to admit it, but up until a few moments ago, I was under the impression you'd have to design two maps in total, thematically linked, as seen on flipmats.

Rocking. I'm curious if what's expected is a map design outline/schematic or something akin to the work of a legit cartographer. My eyes shall remain open for more info on Round 2 as it...unveils?

Hey, I know I wish I'd known some of these before I'd submitted. The "New to RPGSS" thread explained Spell in a Can & Swiss Army Knife, but there's a whole beautiful world of submission tropes you don't know about until the Snark Train starts rolling.

That said, I have a hunch that doing it wrong might be a rite of passage in the RPGSS. Yes. That is what I shall think to sleep easy at night. So plausible, it is.

As a neonate of this contest, I positively love this thread. I thought having your creative baby stabbed a few times by the peanut gallery was part of the fun of being a freelancer.
